Many Moons Pass By
A Month Goes By In A Flash
"Haaa, huff, almost done I think. 3.467, 3,468, 3,469, and… 3,470." He takes a break as he falls down in exhaustion, leaning his back on The Great Tree. "I was lucky to find so many bodies intact but, there should be at least another 2 thousand bodies. There were some body parts around but most of the time the limbs were too fragile to the point that if you pick it up it just turns to dust, and yet, all of these bodies and still no sign of the Village Chief. Did he also get turned to dust? At least I moved all the rubble to the side, even with my child's body, I still managed to gather the strength to move all the rubble into one big pile."
He lifts his head up as his arm is sitting on top of his knee as his other leg is stretched out.
"There's plenty of room to run around now that the Village is cleared out. The floor where the burnt houses still left a mark on the dirt and grass. I wonder if anyone would bother making another Village here. No, what I'm I thinking! Aerhhhh… Maybe I could try looking at the entrance of the Village to see if somehow the Chief is there, just, laying down in the scorching sun."
He talked to himself for the past month to keep his sanity as he shed countless tears of pain, he had to bury his fellow people, It only got worse when he saw children who didn't even reach the age of 10 or worse 5 years old. Some of the bodies were clinging to each other and the thought and the horror they had to face at the time, it deeply pained Sirus to the very core of his soul. Sometimes he would go wild and sometimes beat himself up or even starve himself to death at certain moments. As a sort of punishment for not being able to save a single person. He went sane from day to day as he buried body after body, day or night, sunny or stormy, he didn't stop working. Day after day he worked his body to the bone just to give a resting place to his people.
"Finally made it to the front entrance, these two big mountains covering the front of the Village." He muttered as he looked heavenward towards the mountain to either side, he glanced down and tried to see if the Chief remains laid here. Surprisingly enough, something did lay far down the road, as nature started to grow over the road, nature was also growing something down the road. Sirus took a deep breath as he walked towards the grassy small hill. As he got closer by every step, he had a feeling that this overgrown blanket of grass is the remains of the Chief. He got close enough to the point where he saw red and yellow flowers growing on top of it.
"Hello… Chief." He whispered as he sat down in front of the overgrown blanket covered in roots, grass, and beautiful small flowers dancing in the wind.
He leaned his body on the Chief's remains and closed his eyes and whispered.
"Chief, everyone is waiting for you back home, it's time to go. I'm sorry for letting you get killed by the same Humans who killed all your people. I promise and I never break a promise." He leaned back and placed his hands together on his lap and with a serious face he says.
"I will murder, torture, and kill every single last Human who serves under their disgusting flag! But, I can't bring myself to kill random Humans, although they deserve for what they have done, I will only punish those who I see fit. Unless, I just feel like murdering a whole town's worth of people." He laughed at the end as he widened his eyes and grabbed his hair from the side and started pulling. Strands of silky white hair caught between his fingers, he laughed like a psychopath as he raised his head and stared straight at the sky, a few moments goes by and he went blank and let go of his hair pulled out the strands of hair in his hands and started to pull and break apart the blanket of grass.
"I'm going sane ain't I, hahahaha, ahhhhh… Chief belongs with the Village with his people. Not laying in the middle of the road like a rodent ready to get chewed on by ravaged dogs."
He grabbed an armful of bones, as he walked back to drop it off by The Great Tree. He notices there were clear burn marks and several cracks in the bones. But he ignored the fact that he may have been tortured or made fun of after he died. This did not matter to Sirus as he would do the exact same to the fates of the Humans, no, he would make it worse, the worst possible death he could imagine. He smiled coldly as his body swayed side to side as he walked to Village, he dropped off the bones and walked back to gather the rest. He walked back again to gather the last bit of remains.
He dug over 3 thousand graves with his bare clawed hands. He reeked of filth, worse than a homeless drug addict. His slickly white hair tainted by the dirt, his claws filled with dirt and other kinds of things. His body was so thin that you could almost see his bones. He barely ate or drank anything. He was truly sane and depressed over the month. For the bones that weren't attached to the charred bodies, he simply dug a small hole and planted seeds that fell from The Great Tree as he did the same with the charred bodies. He left a gap of 20 metres so the trees wouldn't grow on one another but also not too far apart from each other. He wanted the top of the tree branches to connect and form a beautiful scenery once all 3,471 grow into beautiful strong trees that would last for thousands of years.
Already the first few 500 to 1 thousand graves grew a small sapling as it sprouted out of the ground. After Sirus finished digging the hole and planted the seed after burying the remains of the Chief, he laid his head on one of the roots sprouting out of the ground of The Great Tree and slept. His hard work finally came to an end.
The Following Morning
"Huff, now what, right… I need to find the Humans who owned that flag that they carried. Probably they live in some Kingdom or Castle. In that case." He stood up quickly and stretched, he patted his clothes and headed over to the river to bathe, he took off his clothes and dipped in the cold water without reacting. He washed his clothes first then hung them up on a nearby tree where the sun could dry them. He washed his hair from the filth and once again his silky white hair returned.
"Weird how it's so simple and easy for my hair to return to normal after giving it a simple wash, though. I still need a brush." He said as he rolled his eyes and went under the water. He came back up and exited the river.
"If only I had a towel to dry myself, this would be a lot better than walking out butt naked in the sun, I would wear my underwear but It seems I have finally grown out of them. The shirt still fits fine, and my pants or should I say shorts since it only covers up to my knees still I guess hasn't fully grown out but it should soon, which is not something I'm looking forward to." He paused for a moment and thought of something. "I could return to the Human Village and steal clothes from them, well if there are no Knights around. If there is then I will just take clothes from the Humans who imprisoned me once. And leave again"
Sirus hid behind some trees to cover himself, he knew no one was here but even yet, he hadn't fallen to the point where he would walk bare naked. After all, he is surrounded by the monster forest so anyone could hide in the forest and make fun of him. His body became dry quickly after soaking in the sun. Another feature of a Demon it seemed, he wore his clothes and headed to The Great Tree one late time and grabbed his bone sword and bone knife. He didn't have any way of storing the weapons so he simply held them in his hands.
"Right, I need to eat and drink, I haven't been eating well for the past month, so I need to hunt before heading to the Human Village. Wonder what will be on the plate today." He said as he stretched one final time and headed towards the monster forest.
