Chapter 32 - Devastated

"This round is simple, you just need to fight each other. No rules, just do whatever you want." Katara wanted to laugh, yeah it was just simple. Simple my ass! He just told them to kill each other, she took a deep breath to relax. She scans the arena, the remaining playing number is five.

Player 050 Armos who she fought in the previous rounds, and number 030 the woman who entered first on the portal in the very first round. Play 020 a man, his name she remembers Leo. He's a fire user, and he's strong too.

Professor Alan continues to announce further pieces of information but Katara feels something strange on her body. She felt her energy gradually getting drain by something or someone, she look at her hand and tried to lift her finger but she can't. What is happening? She looks at the ground, and her sight becomes blurry. Her breathing slowly gets heavy, her head is aching. She closes her eyes tightly, damn! She's slowly getting out of balance, she needs to seat. She finds something to seat on, she walks to the bench. She walk the same as a drunk person, she tried to walk straight but she can't. Her sight getting more blurred, everything she sees doubled or tripled.

Her energy, fuck!

Katara can't help but to cuss in the corner of her mind, she can't understand. For just a second earlier she felt a strong power in her body, what is happening now? She prevents herself from closing her eyes, she forces herself to get conscious as long as she doesn't help it. In the blink of an eye, Katara lost her balance completely and fell to the ground. She lost consciousness, she fainted and darkness consumed her completely.

Desmond turned around and immediately saw Katara on the ground, he instantly approached her. He quickly checks if she's breathing and analyzes if she's still conscious.

"Ave, ave!" He calls her, but she's not responding at all. He held her arm and it had no energy at all, like dry vegetables. He didn't waste any time and carried her.

"I need to send her to the hospital, open the portal professor!" He said while looking at the screen, the professor looked at Desmond. His eyes are cold, Professor Alan is surprised by the way he reacts. Desmond never cared for anyone before, never involved himself in any situations that are not worth it, and now seems like he's ready to go to war if he wouldn't let him go.

Professor Alan didn't respond for a second, he just remained to look at Desmond while thinking what response he made.

"Open the portal, Professor Alan," Desmond uttered again, a cold wind blowing. Professor alan took a deep breath, he is sure this woman is here for something too bad she lost her consciousness.

"I'll let you go, and I'll give her one hour to wake up. After that, she'll be officially disqualified."

What options did he have? The game should be continued, she can't play the game that's why she'll just be disqualified. He can't let her fight unless she wakes up, and decided that to herself. Professor finally opens the portal to return to the Empire of Feronia, Desmond walks into it.

The whole Arena was filled with whispers, every person murmuring their opinions of what happened. While the prince, together with his Majesty, tries to stop himself from moving from a wainscot chair where he is seated, he needs to act like he doesn't care what happened because many people have eyes on him. But deep inside there's a burning desire wanting to run to Ave. He closed his fist trying to compose himself.

"Is she part of the selection?" The Queen asks besides his Majesty, Deimos silently nods.

"She must be good, for surviving all of those obstacles. A strong woman like her will make a good queen."

"But she's not supposed to be in this game, why is she part of this?" The king said.

"She is part of the Selection, and it's your responsibility to take care of Deimos." The majesty looked at him, and Deimos suddenly realized something. That's right, she's his responsibility. If anything happens to her, he is to blame. He should not let her enter this game, how stupid of him.

He suddenly stood up from where he was, the princess looked at him.

"Brother, is something wrong?" She asked, he gently shook his head and turned around to his majesty.

"Excuse me for my rudeness, but I have to check her." He says, the king is emotionless. He just looked at him blankly, and silently nodded.

"As you should."

Deimos didn't waste any second and mobilized himself, he walked out to the arena. People are watching his serious face while wondering what's going on in his mind.

The game resumed after one hour, Katara didn't wake up and it's been

one week since she's in a coma. Slowly she regains her consciousness and immediately She feels something is aiming at her, for the blink of an eye an arrow strikes and she almost hits it if she doesn't move herself causing her to fall to the ground from the bed where she's lying. She skipped a bit, who wouldn't? She just almost died! Her backaches because of the solid ground, damn! She can barely stand up, she holds the edge of the bed to support her weight and lift herself. She's struggling to even lift herself because her strength isn't back yet, she falls back plenty of times. Her legs felt like jelly, and she felt too feeble.

"Fuck!' She cusses silently and after a few minutes, she successfully stands straight. She picks up the arrow that is standing on the top of her pillow, and right before she could hide it Deimos entered the room holding a basket that was filled with fruits and saw Katara holding the arrow. The feathers from the pillow start to fly in the air and fill the room as the air from the window side from her bed blows, their gazes meet and Deimos wastes no second and immediately runs into Katara.

"What happened? Are you okay? Are you hurt? This you feel pain tell me" Katara hides the arrow in her back, Deimos puts down the basket on the bed and then caresses her face to check if she's okay. She feels his warm palm on her cheeks, she looks at Deimos who seems so worried at her, her cheeks slowly turning red when she realizes that they are so close to each other. He continued to throw some questions at her, so she nodded as she responded.

"Thank god you're okay, I am so worried about you! You slept longer this time." He said in a soft voice, Katara's heart began to beat so fast. As she analyzes Deimos's face, he is still handsome as ever but he has a black circle on his eyes and some eye bags. Katara simply hides the arrow under the bed and smiles at Deimos.

"I am fine, thank you, Prince Deimos." She implied.

"No, you almost died. I shouldn't let you enter the game." He said, wait! A light bulb suddenly turns on. Katara remembered something, that's right, the game!

"Gosh! The game, I need to go back!" She said she was about to move when Deimos held her hand and then pulled her.

"You can't, you still need to rest."

"What do you mean I can't, I still can. I heard the professor, he gave me one hour!"

"M'lady you can't, you've slept for one week. It's impossible because the game has already ended."

"WHAT?" Deimos nodded, and Katara felt so devastated.
