Cynthia and Conrad sought out Herald and Glenda. "I want to apologize for spacing out earlier. I am a werewolf and for 150 years I have relied on my wolf and our abilities. We are strong, fast and he is angered by new abilities only our human side can wield."
"Alpha, I ...we understand that. However, fate called YOU to have these special abilities so you must be deemed by the Moon Goddess herself worthy. When new weapons are developed do you not learn of them and train with them? Of course you do. Consider these abilities merely new weapons to be used for good,to keep evil at bay and to draw all species together.under your reign."
Conrad agreed. Cynthia smiled as she could see.her mate/husband was warming up to all this.
"Let's go another round. I think my wolf is gaining understanding too. He is an Alpha.He is highly protective. He sees the good of these abilities now as a means to protect his mate and pack, which is really all he has ever cared about." Herald nodded in agreement and all four went back to work.
Conrad had figured out how to compliment Cynthia's attacks. Cynthia had figured out how to hang onto Conrad and not be sick as he teleported from one place in the pack to another. After several hours it was time for dinner. All four were hungry and tired.
"Conrad?"
"Yes, my love?"
"Do you think we can pull this off? unite all supernatural species?"
"I don't know. But we will do all we can to persuade them. If we don't I do beverages the human hunters, who fear and hate us all will slowly but surely eliminate us all in a short time."
Cynthia was quiet.
FOUR HOURS LATER (nearly 1 am)
BOOM! HISS! BOOM!
The pack house shook. Cynthia jolted from sleep and Conrad darted to the bedroom door, flung it open and raced for the front door, shifting mid staircase. Cynthia shifted and chased after him.
Howls were heard in the distance. Another BOOM! More howls. Both Conrad and Cynthia mindlinked with the various border patrols. It was not on old Moon pack territory. It seemed to be coming from the south. The Red Creek pack, a smaller, peaceful pack was south.
Conrad and Cynthia, Timothy and Steve and 4 warriors raced to the southern shared border. When they arrived, they saw what they had smelled about a 1/2 mile away. Blood and sulfur mixed. It was a blood bath right at the border. How much worse would it be as they actually penetrated the packs land?
Conrad shifted, grab shirts from the border tree and walked to the line between Blood Moon and Red Creek lands. He had a treaty with Red Creek. It was a mutual interest treaty and meant Blood.Moon would go support the smaller pack if attacked. It was obvious they were attacked but by whom? How bad was it? Cynthia had not shifted back yet so Conrad approached her and asked her to do so. She went behind a tree and did so, finding a large t shirt and some shorts she dressed and came out.
Cynthia was upset by the smells and the carnage. Not that she hadn't seen that kind of destruction before but because the Red Creek pack was so small and did bot pose a threat to anyone...human or werewolf or any other species. They just did not deserve this. She was getting more and more worked up each passing moment. Conrad put his arms around her waist and held her close."We do not know how bad it is in the interior of the pack yet,my love. Maybe it is just the border that was attacked." But he didn't believe that because there was NO way whatever or whoever did this could have done so here. Not coming across his territory,which meant this came from the inside out to the perimeter.
"We need to cross over nd find Alpha Jack."
The team crossed into Red Creek territory and it was eerie. It was too quiet. Cynthia felt the hairs on her arms rise. The smell of sulfur and explosive materials was stronger and stronger as they moved deeper into the territory. Then they smelled smoke. Cynthia ran forward about 500 yards and stopped dead in her tracks. The small packhouse was ...well... it was gone. What remained was a hole. There was a giant hole in the ground and smoldering ash. The trees near what was the packhouse were on fire. "What on earth?" she said choking back sobs. Conrad stepped beside her and held her as he looked at the devastation. All were silent.
No one moved. Their senses were heightened.
Then Cynthia noticed movement to their left. She sniffed and she knew this was the work of rogues and humans. Rogues working with humans? She smelled both. And she say a flash off to their right. They were now being targeted. Cynthia became highly alert. Conrad growled. Steve and the warriors formed a circle around Cynthia,Conrad and Timothy. They got into fighting stances and faced outward. Cynthia mindlinked them all, "Do not move a muscle. Conrad, teleport the team out to our territory except me."
"No!" he mindlinkee back, "We go together!" " Not yet. I have to find out why rogues and humans did this? I can snag one of them. Now move fast! Get everyone out! I will follow." "No!" Conrad was NOT leaving his beloved behind.He just found her after waiting 150 years! No way! Leo was growling and scratching to come forward and take over. "We will kill those rogues and humans! Now!" "Leo," it was Athena, "Not now. Soon. We must not attack now."
Conrad would teleport the team back but he would stay beside his mate. "We do this together!" Cynthia nodded her ok. "What now? Once I remove our warriors, they will know we know they are there."
"Once you remove our warriors we will instantly send fire...you send it left. I will send it right.Once they move I will raise up roots to snag them and drive them into the ground before they can get a shot off. They have silver bullets,Conrad."
"I see. Well, good we get our warriors out of here. You and me are resistant to silver and wolf and, so we will be able to withstand a shot or two. Ok, one the count of 10...warriors be ready to be teleported back on 1."
"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1"
Instantly the warriors disappeared.There was an autible gasp around the two and before that gasp even finished Cynthia and Conrad sent fire out from their hands into the surrounding bush. Screama were heard and pounding of multiple pairs of feet were heard running...Cynthia raised her hands onto fists and lifted both arms aboutb6 inches and tree roots came out and like a lasso snagged wolf and man.She then fisted her hands and brought her arms down to her side rapidly. Conrad could hear bodies hitting the forest floor and muffled screams as they hit. Conrad then raised his right hand and circled ut above his head and a cyclone emerged. He directed it towards the right first, collecting bodies ...then crossed it to the left and picked up more bodies. Screams were heard as the whirling twister picked up more bodies and increased rotation.
He directed the twister towards their territory and mindlinked Timothy and Steve to be ready to subdue nd bring to the cellar the men and wolves that would soon drop at their feet.
Timothy mindlinked for more warriors and more silver cuffs. Moments later 8 wolves and 5 humans were deposited. All were sick and throwing up.As soon as they were coughed up from the twister, thebqolves shifted intontheir human form and passed out. The humans had already passed out. All 13 captured were handcuffed and brought to the cellars as per the Alpha's order.
"Hmm. My love, it appears we learned how to control our new abilities. Yes?"
"Indeed. Now we need to see if anyone is alive from the Red Creek pack,my dear."
She started towards the giant hole in the ground. Blood and body parts were everywhere. Tears ran down her face. Conrad held her hand as they walked looking for any sign of life. There was none.
"They are all dead?" Cynthia sighed.
"Appears to be the case, my love "
"No! No! It cannot be so!" Cynthia was distraught. Men, women, pups...all gone. An entire pack, albeit small...less than 70 in number but still an entire pack wiped out! Cynthia mournfully howled! Conrad joined her.
Conrad teleported them both back to their own packhouse. It was going to be a long night.
