Chapter 19 - THE LOVED ONES

Wilfred looked sadly at the grave of her dead mother. For a minute or two, he didn't had the awareness of his surroundings. Then, his father came and said that it's time to go home. "Let's go to our home and let your mother rest in her new home", his father said. They returned home all the way, Wilfred remained silent. Wilfred was a thirteen year old boy whose mother was shot dead. The police were trying their level best to catch the murderers but till now there was no good news. The murderers would have been very clever because they left no clue. Wilfred's father started to make him happy because now that child had to live on even after his mother's death. He used to give him time and he used to take Wilfred to the movies. Slowly and slowly, their life was getting back to normal but one day.... Wilfred's father was going to his workplace and Wilfred was left under the servant's care. A man came towards Wilfred's father and killed him. Before dying, Wilfred's father recognized the man. "Is it really you?" And then he fell to the ground. The mysterious man laughed and kicked the dead body to see if it was dead. When he was sure about this, he left. During the murder, there was no one on the street so it was easy for the man to leave without being the one to blame. Then, one of Wilfred's neighbor was going that way and he saw the dead body. He recognized it, of course but it was no use taking the body to the hospital because Wilfred's father was already dead. A funeral was arranged and when this news reached Wilfred's ears, his tears won't stop. At the funeral, Wilfred cried because both of his parents left him alone in this cruel world.

Wilfred's father had a brother who was married but didn't have kids. He was a man of tall height and fat body. He was totally amoral. He along with his cunning wife took Wilfred with them. But what was surprising for Wilfred was the fact that his uncle and aunt moved in his parents' house. His uncle and aunt then lived as a king and queen in Wilfred's magnificent palace. The house was actually Wilfred's inheritance but they didn't care. Wilfred thought about the old times when his parents were alive and he used to enjoy hot soup in a cosy lounge. They would go on tours and to different other sites but mostly he remembered the love his parents gave him. One night, he couldn't sleep. This happened often because how could a boy sleep when he knew that his parents were then a past. He was wide awake. After a while, he saw a strange light. The light went out of the room to another room which had once been Wilfred's parents' room. Then, the light quickly transformed into his parents. He was watching the illusion of his dead parents. Full of love and passion, he ran towards his parents like a toddler. In a loud voice he said," Mom, dad, why did you leave me in this cruel world? How can you do this to your only son?" The illusion of his dead mother stopped him and said to him, "No dear. You can't come near us. Remember we will always be watching you and please for god sake don't cry. You are the flower we waited for years to grow. If you cry it will cause us pain. Promise us that you will remain strong." Wilfred promised and the illusion of his parents suddenly vanished and Wilfred went to sleep sadly remembering his parents.

Wilfred's uncle Mr. John and his wife Susan comforted him for a day or two but after a week their attitude totally changed towards Wilfred. Susan said, "Look Wilfred. We are not financially stable as your parents were so from now on you won't go to school instead you will have to work in the house. Don't worry. We will feed you and take you out sometimes." Susan was lying about the fact that they had low amount of money so they couldn't send Wilfred to school. As Wilfred was too young to inherit what belonged to his father, John and Susan were keeping the money and the house with them. Wilfred cried thinking that his cruel uncle and aunt were then stealing the right of education from him. He would cry every time, he used to see the kids going to school and himself bringing the milk, bread, cheese, etc to the house like a servant. Wilfred used to write in his diary, " Mom and Dad, you always wanted me to become a doctor but how can I do so seeing the circumstances." For Wilfred time was passing slow. His cruel uncle and aunt kept taking advantage of him every now and then.. If he disobeyed them, he would be punished badly. Sometimes he would not get food and other times he would be put in a dark room which had a little source of light. Once, he was going to buy some groceries that his uncle had ordered him to do so. He then found a boy of his age crying on the street. He was hurt on the leg. Wilfred saw that the wounded place was bleeding. Wilfred had a bandage with him. He quickly healed the boy and the boy was very thankful. The boy's name was Harold as he told Wilfred. They became good friends and would hang out when they were free.
