Chapter 13 - Time is unbreakable. Even for an Immortal.

So you managed to find your way into a cloud island then? Be sure to get a view of the lands below. There are not many sights like this on our plane so enjoy the air of the sky serpents but don't tread too far. It's a long fall. Trust me I've lost a lot of lives making the same dumb mistake but you are here for a reason. This land holds a decrypted castle in the skyline. You can see it from here. I know you can. I stared at the setting sun looming above the castle from here writing this. It was once the house of a budding god of time. From a smaller pantheon and boy...did his skills show it. I also gained a nickname that is said to be used as a ghost story to fresh faced gods. The blur on the battlefield...Rather fitting if I do say so. Here is his tale and the reason that time, even for a god that holds it as his domain can be broken by its will.

In my endless lives, I've seen the tricky sands of time take their toll on all who tried to live in its madness. Degrading and corrupting the ideals of the past that define what everyone sees as our future. It's hard to believe the changes one life can make in the eyes of the lords above. I should get to the story...Around the halfway mark of the second era is when I meet the god in question. A war in a country that has stood the tests of time. I was given a fair amount of Dragons. Both the currency and the best of the sky so no one thought we would lose. I have never decided a battle before a body goes limp. Each skirmish was faster and easier than the last, all until the final bout where an unknown gods temple stood. Never will I shy away from burning the gods' lands and I will never cry at the results.

The last battle was all but over in minutes. The king we faced spread his men so far that it was easy to break through with a central charge...Hells...Any line would be demolished by a horde of Dragons. I had left its back to now scan the warzone and see the god for the first time. He did not reveal his face but his eyes of pure crystal white were dazzling. He seemed to notice me moving towards him and stepped back in fear. His arms that were preparing his godly influence now went to his sides, shaking faster with every step I took. This was the first time I heard my nickname amongst the gods and it will burn in my memories in every lifetime I live forevermore,

''NO! T-TH-The Blur of the Battlefields! P-PLEASE! Father save me!''

The sands were now resifting around us. Only problem is control over time, be it from a mortal or god needs complete focus. Where did the flowers lay before the trampling of warriors? What did the minerals that lay below their feet take shape like? What was the strength of the emerald grass before it was painted red? These things and everything in between is a serious factor...One this young god did not account for. The battle was started anew but ended in half the time. Double the men burned away and the deity stood with his eyes welling from his mistake. The battle was one as he returned to the father he wished to save him. I wonder what god he was?

I'm not sure what became of that god...Maybe he honed his skills and did his pantheon proud, maybe he gave it up and accepted he was not right for the powers he could possess. Good thing about this is it showed me the most valuable lesson I've learned in my many lives. Time is unbreakable...Even to me...The lesson here? Stay away from stasis magic.
