...
Wait, he's in a fanfic AU world!?
He couldn't believe it himself, but that's the truth.
How did he learn about this? Well...
-Scene Cut-
It all started after he completed another quest. This time, it was for him to have 3 cantrips and one level 1 spell up to Level 2, which was easy enough to do! The moment he completed the quest, his Druid level went from 1 to 2, making him unlock not only Lvl 2 spells but also Wildshape and more Spellpoints. He also received a [Feat Point] so he could get a feat, something he did instantly, choosing [Spell Sniper] and taking the [Eldritch Blast] cantrip immediately. He also got, after completing the quest, the opportunity of getting one Level 1 spell and one Level 2 spell from the seemingly endless list of spells he could choose from, which he did choose!

At level two, he chose the spells [Entangle (Lvl 1)] and [Pass Without a Trace (Lvl 1)] to help him in his quest for revenge against that specific Monstrous Nightmare that burned his flesh. His plan was simple! Because he had [Spell Sniper] now, his spell range doubled, meaning he can shoot said Monstrous Nightmare from 240 feet away! 'But he'll get close quick, so I gotta use [Entangle] on him and then [Dracobolt] with the ice damage...' Monstrous Nightmare are Stoker Class dragons. Their bodies are made to burn, so when intensive cold is introduced to their body, they try to warm themselves up by setting themselves on fire! He had a plan because he couldn't kill a dragon by taking it easy. He's not a super strong guy like the father from the protagonist of the movie! "Fuck." He groaned, a headache assaulting his mind as he felt blood dripping from his nose.
He's been getting headaches for reasons unknown to him. He wouldn't take any damage. He'd just get this annoying headache!
In the end, he chose for his background the [Love Survivor]. Why? It gave him a pretty useful feature and knowledge!
[Lone Survivor
You were the sole survivor of a major life-threatening event. Maybe your village or city was attacked by some great evil, or maybe you were tricked by some greater power. No matter the details, everyone other than you died, and you survived. Where were you when it happened? What age? Were you a small child or a young adult? What attacked you? Was it one thing or a group? What effect did this have on you? Were you traumatized, or were you strengthened by it? Did you run away, or did you fight it? Are there any remnants you kept or anything left, or was it all destroyed? Whatever the case may be, you walk on, carrying the weight of those who died. You might even be able to "hear" the voices of the people who died. They might be angry with you, or they might be forgiving. Maybe you lost a loved one or a childhood sweetheart, and maybe they also survived, or maybe they died. If they died, have they forgiven you? If they lived, do you seek to find them and them you? Regardless, you carry on without anyone but your memories of the ones you'd lost. You are a survivor; the lone survivor.
Skill Proficiencies: Survival, Perception.
Tool Proficiencies: Artisan's tools (one of your choice), or vehicles (water).
Languages: Choose 1
Equipment: A trinket of your past (a necklace, ring, sword, severed finger or hair, etc.), a set of worn travelers clothes, the set of tools you are proficient in, a scroll detailing your life up to this point, a backpack, and a belt pouch with 15 gp in it.
Feature: Survival Instincts
Having survived for some years, you are able to make simple survival necessities. You can make fires, craft shelters, cook food, etc. Also, you have a keen sense of danger and dangerous situations]
This might seem really angsty, but he chose this background because it gave him the knowledge he needed to survive! [Survival Instincts] is a really good ability because not only is he aware of the things he needs to do to survive, but he is also able to feel whenever danger is approaching him! It was incredible to live in the wild with this knowledge... Also, the items he got were actually useful! He had proficiency in Herbalism, which meant he got the herbalist kit. The momemt he chose this background, which is kinda cool too. "Let's see..." He looked through the herbs he found. Many were not that useful alone, but together? They produced this powerful, although temporary, paralyzing toxin.
Ah, mushrooms, how he loves them.
'I also love how [Druidcraft] helps with that.' He was able to make small mushrooms bloom (?) out of the bark of fallen trees with the cantrip, making him able to make this powerful toxin. Well, venom? Poison? Who cares anyway.
It's time to kill a dragon.
-Scene Cut-
It was a serene morning when the flames of the Monstrous Nightmare burned bright upon the blue sky - The giant beast roared in sheer anger at the little pest that dared attack him in his territory! The several small fist-sized projectiles of pure green energy slammed against the dragon, making the angry Titan Wing fly towards the small insect. The insect did nothing to move out of the way but instead kept firing these annoying blasts of energy that slammed against his thick and powerful scales, doing almost no damage.
Well, if you count a tiny scratch as damage, that is.
The enraged dragon quickly approached his prey, opening his massive maws to release a giant plume of pure red flames that made the air sizzle and vibrate with how hot it was.
But it was all for nothing, as this column - barrier? - of water blocked the flames, making them obsolete and useless, further angering the dragon. Fine, if he isn't going to die by flame, then by tooth and claw it is! More of these projectiles kept firing as he landed before the pest, opening his maw wide open in a roar - only for this bright red blast of fire hit his open mouth.
Pain assaulted his senses, his throat felt raw and hurt, and his anger was burning so hot his whole body was set ablaze - literally. But oh, the pest was smart! "This is your end, fucker!" You see, before coming here, Hastur had finished a quest that let him choose one cantrip and one level 1 spell, so which ones he chose?
[Create/Destroy Water (Lvl 2):
Create Water. You create up to 20 gallons of clean water within range in an open container. Alternatively, the water falls as rain in a 35-foot cube within range, extinguishing exposed flames in the area.
Destroy Water. You destroy up to 20 gallons of water in an open container within range. Alternatively, you destroy fog in a 35-foot cube within range.]
He raised his hands as below the Montrous Nighter, a bunch of roots started to rapidly grow and wrap around the wings, tail, and neck of the beast, tightly holding the beast where it stood. "Payback!" From above the Monstrous Nightmare, 20 galons of water started to rain quickly down, wetting the dragon and making the gel it produced useless - Meaning? It couldn't set itself on fire! "Freeze, motherfucker." From the dragon's wet body, ice started to form, as he casted:
[Frostbite (Lvl 1):
You cause numbing frost to form on one creature that you can see within range. The creature has a harder time attacking you with its weapons, and it also takes (6 × Spell Level + Your Level) cold damage]
Now, what happens when you start to reduce the temperature of a flame breathing dragon? It tries to warm itself up! But what if the dragon cannot because their self igniting gel has been rendered useless because of water? Easy! It opened its mouth to trash and try to free itself from the wines and roots holding it down.
But, uh oh! Teeth and claws? They're natural WEAPONS! If the dragon opened its mouth to fire him, he'd just have to do the same he did a few moments ago, which was easy enough. He kept using [Frostbite] every single second, and the frost started to spread over the dragon's body, taking over it more and more until -

It was a... book?
"[The Four Great]?" It wasn't a particularly long book, so he managed to read it quickly. And it wasn't a book. It was a fanfic! "Oh, by the Gods." He was in a fanfic world. How did he know that? Well, because the moment he finished reading the book, information entered his mind about his background...
It seems like he is a side character now?
