Chapter 341 - Dragon [#8]

"...You're married!?" Heather shouted, surprised. Her brother bashfully held his hand behind his head, and for the first time ever since she had ever met him, he looked... shy. "I mean, yeah. Marriage, that stuff you do with someone you find and get to do all... that... yeah, I'm married! Recent event, couldn't really invite you because there hasn't been a ceremony yet." Shrugging a little to try and look uncaring, Dagur looked around hesitantly: "So... You're gonna let me go now? I'd hate to be late for dinner, y'know, Alrik wouldn't be happy with me if I turned up late for dinner the 7th time this week - I mean, it's not my fault that beheading someone makes your whole body be covered in blood! How am I supposed to know that destroying a ship full of people with the power of lightning makes you smell like burnt human flesh!?"

Dagur took a deep breath in, his body falling down as he sat on the wood floor of his cell, his eyes downcast as he spoke to his sister with sincerity: "I mean, I did upset him by setting fire to the very flammable house... And I almost killed his son because of an accident. He normally tells me he still loves me before going to cool down somewhere else, like, blow up some steam because he doesn't want me to see his angry side! He thinks I'd be scared or something, but that's his wish, so I respect it and keep to myself... The thing is, this time, he didn't say anything! He just left, and I ran here to talk to Hiccup and see if he has any advice for me on how to unfuck this fucked up fuck, and that's how I found you." Having finished his recounting of the events that brought him here in the first place, Dagur sighed heavily as a serene expression came to his face, he grinned widely as he said: "Oooh! That felt good. Thanks for listening to me rambling about my maybe possibly perhaps failing marriage that isn't going to fail because I am going to apologize to my match!"

"...Match?" The previously silent Dragon Riders all turned to look at Hiccup, who had a dawning realization upon his face. He grew up in Berk, the son of the Chief, and he had to learn about the costumes and traditions of their allies so as not to offend them when diplomatic talks were involved, so he of course learned about the Berserker way of finding a partner. "Hey, Dagur...?"

"Yes, brother? Oh, wait, maybe uncle?" Dagur's finger went to his chin as he thought of what to call Hiccup - Uncle? No. Brother seemed fine enough, but it lacked something. "What did you challenge him to do...?" Dagur's eyes lit up with a flame of excitement, nostalgia, and... love? "Ah, it was glorious - he was such a good warrior Hiccup, the best warrior of them all! He was fast, he was strong, he was deadly, and he was even crazier than me! The only person to ever match me in physical combat!" Yeah, they're probably fucked aren't they? Someone who can win against Dagur in physical combat must be a beast! "Ah, Little Brother! That's it, that's what was missing - Younger Brother." Nodding to himself as if he was a sage, Dagur chuckled a little maniacally as he fiddled with his fingers behind his back.

"Okay, so crazy guy is married now?" Snotlout sounded perturbed, I mean, who would marry Dagur?

"And worse." Hiccup said: "To someone stronger than him."

There was silence for a moment - someone stronger and crazier than Dagur was married to this madman, someone who would miss him and come to find him.

"That would be me." A voice startled them all, making them look towards the entrance to see this large shadow blocking the sunlight from entering their cells in the Dragon's Edge. "Baby!" Dagur's excited voice echoed as the man fully entered the room, and - He looked so peaceful. Contrary to Dagur, whose whole body expressed how deranged he was, this man gave the complete opposite vibes! He looked so peaceful, so calm, and so... positive. "I'm sorry if he caused any trouble, I'll be taking him home now." Even their dragons, who would normally be growling or hissing at the intruder, seemed to be peaceful, pacified before his very presence. "Uhm, sorry, but you can't simply come barging in and taking a prisoner out of someone else's holding cell!" And leave to Snotlout to stand before the man that could beat Dagur up easily! Dagur, a bloodthirsty man who has possibly killed thousands, and was bested by a single man.

Hiccup took a step back and alogside him, and so did all Riders and their dragons, even Hookfang.

"...what?" A simple word, a question, echoed. It was so heavy all of a sudden that no one moved, no one spoke, no one even breathed. The man before them was no longer a peaceful, gentle giant man but rather another bloodthirsty beast made for killing and destroying. "You're telling me I can't bring my husband home?" His hand reached out slowly. At first, it looked like he was about to touch a frozen Snotlout, but his hand touched the thick bars of solid wood and reinforced to their core with Gronkle Iron and simply clenched his fist. There were splinters everywhere as he pulled his hand back, tearing the cage up with his bare, bleeding hands. "I will take my love back, and I'll not let anyone get in my way."

"Awn~." Of course, the one to break the tension was Dagur himself, who wrapped his arms around the other man's waist. "You still love me even after I almost killed Kamalu?"

"Kamalu wasn't hurt, a little scared, but not hurt... Besides, you know I can't bring myself to hate you, my love -" he was about to kiss Dagur when the smaller but crazier man pulled back and shouted: "Oh yeah!" He pulled his husband towards his sister and stopped right before her: "Alrik, this is Heather, my sister! Heather, this is Alrik, my husband and match!" Just as quickly as he changed from a gentle man to a murderous beast, he once again changed into that same gentle and caring expression, his whole vibes just being generally good. "Oh, Hi!" He took her thin hand into his big amd meaty one as Dagur watched from the side: "Dagur has spoken about you a lot! And also about gruesome revenge against a few people in this room, I think, but I managed to convince him not to... It'd be messy to clean up after all!" He shaked the hand of the hesitant Heather before turning to look at the majestic beast beside her: "And oh my Gods - A Razorwhip! She's beautiful... Although she seems a little hurt? Have you been taking care of her well? Her tail looks damaged, not enough to be a serious issue, but enough to cause some discomfort on her. It also looks old, like, really old."

But before she could ask him how he knew about Windshear's old injury, he simply went over to Hiccup and Toothless. The Night Fury lowered himself to the ground and growled to show his aggression, but he lowered himself alongside the Night Fury and raised his hand in a flashing single gesture that made the dragon go limp, tongue lolling out of his mouth in a cutesy way. No one could say anything because what just happened was amazing! Everyone thought that Hiccup was the dragon whisperer, but then this man came along and subdued Toothless with a simple hand gesture!? "A Night Fury - They're so rare, even rarer than my baby Kamalu, and rarer than Thunderstorm too Dagur, just because you were obsessed with this fine dragon and is jealous that Hiccup is his rider, it doesn't mean you should diminish how awesome and adorable he is." Dagur grumbled something under his breath before nodding along to his husband's words: "Huh, you're the same age." He just smiled towards Hiccup before continuing to pat the good dragon.

"Wow." Was all they could really say - Until Dagur's smug face made Heather want to punch him. "Anyway, nice to meet you, Hiccup, Dagur has spoken a lot about you... After I convinced him that murdering you wasn't a good idea if he wanted to be closer to his sister, considering the fact that she is now part of your little group of dragon riders." To that Hiccup could only say a hesitant "Thank you...?" while sending some concerned looks to Astrid and the others. Before they could continue on their conversation, a booming roar made everyone stop.

Everyone except Alrik.

"Oh, I'm coming, Kamalu!" He quickly raised Dagur above his head and left the room in a hurry, prompting the others to follow him only to come face to face with one of the largest dragons they've ever seen. It had these massive horns and a mean face - "Dagur, you didn't even say goodbye to Kamalu, say you're sorry." Dagur practically threw himself towards the big dragon, apologizing profusely - until a small, purple dragon fell from the horns of the massive Crimson Goregutter right into Dagur's arms. Immediately, everyone could recognize the baby as a Skrill, but... Why was it wearing bones? "Thunderstorm!" Raising the weird baby Skrill, Dagur smiled brightly.

"She was crying that you left her behind, so I brought her with me to find you." Alrik slowly pushed a bone to Dagur's hand, who took it wasily and shoved into a small hole where the armor clicked in place, making the small Skrillknapper let out this pleased growl and letting out this stream of fire. This was not a normal Skrill, but a hybrid between a Skrill and a Boneknapper, making this small dragon have both the characteristics of a Boneknapper and a Skrill They aren't loners like a Skrill, they are friendlier like Boneknappers, they have horns that curl backwards, and they cover parts of their bodies with scales to protect them!

"And there, now you've completed her first armor." Dagur little delight giggle was adorable to Alrik's eyes, but everyone just ignored it in favor of looking at the baby in Dagur's hands.

A new dragon species?
