When Luna stomped out of the forest she noticed the town was still and slow.
An older woman was passing by and Luna stopped her.
"Excuse me, but what happened here?" She asked
"Last night all our torches had gone out, We could only hear shrills and shrieks in the night. Most of the livestock and guards were found torn apart. All that was left were these symbols everywhere in the village" She explained wiping her tears away as she carried on.
Luna's heart broke looking at the sorrowful faces of the village. It pained her that she couldn't help them.
'Getting rid of Kahnum will be the best way to help these people.' Luna thought as she started to roam the broken village.
The wind began to pick up and familiar dark grey clouds started to fill the sky. Bright purple lighting began to flash with thunder booming after it.
Luna watched the people panic and rush inside their homes.
A maniacal laugh rang through the dark sky. Leafs began to spin with black dust to reveal a tall figure, Kahnum. Enraged at his appearance, Luna started to stomp her way to the Warlord.
"Kahnum," She spat at the man
Shaking his finger he clicked his tongue and held out his hand. Luna couldn't move. She felt frozen as Kahnum only smirked at her state.
"Ah ah ah, no need for hostility" he grinned as her temper began to rise.
"No hostility?! After what you did to this beautiful village! Ruining it with your filth" she shouted, Kahnum walked closer, waving his hand he bound her with shadows. Luna fell to her knees and was looking down at the ground. He grabbed her chin and got closer to her face
"Filth? This village is rotten. Selling there wares to the greedy. Only after their own gain." Kahnum says as he walked around the destroyed market kicking away the wood and fruits.
"But that doesn't matter now. After all, I have already taken the true prize here." he boasted, stepping away. Before Luna could speak another word, a shadow tendril covered her mouth as he turned away.
Rage filled her mind with dark thoughts. Luna couldn't help but remember seeing the pain of Imani's face and of all the innocent people suffering from their losses.
Anger and hate began to burn within her chest.
Kahnums began to chuckle deeply.
'Perhaps if she gives in to her rage, her soul will be tainted and then no one can stop me' Kahnum planned
Turning back to the princess he was met with Luna's eyes, glaring daggers at him. She would struggle under the binds, trying to break free. He could feel her frustration and vengeance through it all.
"Has it gotten under your skin? Not being able to help these low-lives," Kahnum began to taunt, circling the girl like a vulture. Hoping to reach a breaking point within her.
"Poor Princess, cannot defend those who are beneath her. What does that say about you as a future Queen? " Kahnum says as he laughed at her.
But Luna couldn't hear him. Unknown voices started chant words in her head as drum beats started to resonate within her soul. She couldn't understand what was happening but she gave in.
Kahnums ears perked up at a sound. She began to chant the words while closing her eyes. The Warlord rolled his eyes.
"What now? A final prayer to your gods for a merciful death?" Kahnum smugly asked
But before he could say anything else the sounds of a steady drum beat started to fill the air.
Kahnum looked around to find where the noise was coming from, and found it coming from his captive. Before he could do anything else, flashes of golden light began to flood out of her eyes and chest.
The drum beats had gotten more intense as the chanting words were now crying out in the air. The shadows binding her fades away as the light began to swirl off of Lunas body taking shape.
Astonished, Kahnum could only watch as a beast started to appear. It had a long form towering over the village. It's face had a narrow snout snarled showing off it's sharp teeth. The Warlord couldn't help but look at the beasts eyes. They were a bright gold and narrowed on his form. Its mouth opened as it began to speak in sync with Luna.
"Prayer? Hahaha. I'd rather pray to see you perish by the hands of your shadows than ever pray for a merciful death." They spoke in 2 voices,.
Luna's eyes matched the beasts as they pierced the warlord's gaze.
Angered, Kahnum began to use his dark magic to summon a beast of his own. It resembled a giant canine. Its mouth had teeth curing up its snout as it began to drool dark purple fire, burning the ground below. It's eyes were a swirl of purple and white as it frowned and growled at Luna's light beast,
"Let the best win," Kahnum teased as the beasts flew at each other.
Dark and Light began to fight ruthlessly. The light would bounce off the shadows creatures at every attack. The villagers watched the flashes of battle in terror and hope. Striking down the light beast, the shadow stood on its neck. Luna was struggling herself to keep the light beast from fading away. Kahnum laughed at her state.
"Give up now, it's only fruitless to struggle, it causes weakness, just like your insolent father!'' Shouted the Warlord. Luna took a deep breathe and collected her thoughts.
"No, it gives me strength. If I have something to fight for I will fight for it till the end of the line" Luna yelled whipping the light beast's tail at the shadow's head knocking it off her. With her new opportunity, the light beast curled itself around the shadow wolf and started to constrict it. The wolf began yelping and whimpering at the light beast's attack, with a final howl, the shadow beast disappeared.
"NO!" Shouted Kahnum. Luna, seemingly dancing, sent the beast towards Kahnum. Forcing him to retreat from the village. The attack sent all the clouds away leaving the sky clear again. As if nothing had occurred.
The light beast circled back and retreated back into Luna as she fell to the earth.
