Chapter 4 - Farewells

"We need to prepare you for your journey," Seiko said, walking into the room.

"Wait, What about the people? What about you?" Luna said looking at her parents. "We will have everything under control, Now you two need to find the other warriors. Whoever or whatever they may be," Arlen said gesturing to the guards to escort them out.

"Violet, you must hurry back to prepare. Your mother and sister have taken the secret tunnels back home, you must do the same, I will be here to help Arlen in any way I can" Oleander said leaving the girls outside the door.

The girls walked in silence, only their echoing footsteps could be heard. "Violet," Luna asked "Yes, Luna?" Violet replied, "What will happen if we don't find them?" Luna said as she looked at the floor. Watching their feet move in sync until she slowly stopped. Her thoughts began racing. All Luna could think about was Kahnums eyes peering into her soul, the safety of her family and her kingdom, and what would happen if she failed.

Violet watched her usually optimistic friend, question her next steps.

"We cannot think like that Luna. We must keep our heads up. A wise girl once told me 'With an open mind and an open heart you can achieve anything.'" Violet quoted making Luna look at her. It was something Luna had heard from her grandmother at an early age. Luna told this saying to Violet and Zen many times growing up.

Taking in her words, she started to calm her thoughts.

"You're right" Luna stated and began walking again.

The tunnel entrance came too quickly for their liking. Violet pulled Luna into a hug."I will meet you at the border. Be careful, ok?" Violet said descending the stairs with her guards. Luna watched until she could no longer see the light or the shadows of her best friend.

Luna went back to her room as she began to change out of her now ruined dress. A knock was heard at her door. Pulling on her day dress she called out.

"Come in" Luna called. The second the door closed, she heard little feet walk across the tile. Taking a deep breath she turned around.

Luna saw the youngest member of the family; Althea.

Although being 10 years old, and the youngest, she was smart and intuitive for her age. Luna knew that Althea had something important to say. She came into Luna's room often, but when she knocked it was usually their private sister talks.

"Sissy, can I asked you something?" Althena asked messing with her hands. Luna knelt to her sister. "What do you wish to ask?" Luna replied putting her chin up.

"Can I...Can I come with you?" She asked Luna looked at Althea with saddened eyes.

"I'm sorry Angel, but it'll be too dangerous for you" Luna explained.

Tears began to well up in Althea's eyes. "B-but what if you get hu-hurt. I can help!" Althea tried to reason. Althea had been training to be a healer and has even help Luna with a few scrapes and bruises.

Luna took her face and wiped the tears that began to fall on her cheeks.

"Yes, while you are an excellent healer, you are still training and studying. But most importantly you are my little sister" Luna felt her voice crack as tears began to build up.

"I will have Violet with me, I'll be wearing armor, and you forget the gift that this family has. I have my magic. Angel Baby, I will -no- when I return with the other warriors we will protect our kingdom." Luna promised putting their heads together as both girls began to cry.

Pulling apart from each other Althea wiped her remaining tears away. "If i can't go with you maybe I can help Zen with healing the soldiers here." She hiccuped, wiping her nose.

Luna threw her arms around her figure once more.

"You are the bravest little girl I know. I will be back before you know it. I'll even send letters when I can." Luna whispered into Althea's shoulder. The next few minutes, the sisters gathered the rest of the necessary things Luna would need on her travels.

She dressed in her riding armor. They looked like normal gear but they were enchanted to be as strong as the best armor in the land. The shirt was black and had long sleeves that had cuts along the arm. Tan leather pants with a gold belt that held her small sword, a horn, and extra arrows. She had silver armor that covered her chest, arms, and parts of her legs. She also had a white-furred collared cape that was crushed velvet.

Luna also wore knee-high black riding boots. with silver plating. She braided her hair and put on her battle crown. A battle crown was meant to show nobility in war. It covered her forehead with intricate designs in the front. Luna met her family at the gates with her Clydesdale stallion, Crofter.

"If you are in dire need of help, blow this horn and Zen with his guard will come help." Said Seiko hugging her tightly.

"We love you My starlight," Arlen said joining his wife and daughter. Luna let go of her parents as she faced her brother. Grabbing each other's forearms they shook arms.

"No matter where you will end up, when you call we'll be ready," He said stiffly as Luna smiled pulling her younger brother in for a hug. "I'll miss you" she whispered "Me too, be safe" he whispered back. Still, a bit teary eyed from earlier Luna kneeled to Althea.

Althea handed Luna a handmade necklace of colorful stones on a small string.

"It's my own good luck charm. So it can protect you" She explained as Luna bowed her head as Althea put it around her neck. "I shall keep it on me at all times" Luna promised, hugging her sister once more. She kissed her head and stood again.

"I shall return as swiftly as I can. But I must be off." Luna announced as the guards stood at attention and shouted

"All Hail Princess Luna Grimaldi!" Giving Luna proper guards goodbye. Getting on her stallion. Luna took off to the borders to meet up with Violet.

Luna rode up to see Violet giving her final hugs to her parents and her older sister, Jasmine. Violet stood before her kingdom as the guards had yelled out

"All Hail Princess Violet Juro!" Violet turned to see her best friend ready to go.

Waving to her family Violet hopped onto her Shire mare, Bonnie. Riding up to Luna at the borders gates, they looked at each other as they rode off into the forest. Following their way to the Kingdom of Deir, where they would start their search.

Luna couldn't explain it but she started to feel a pull towards their next destination....
