Chereads / Ephesus And Diane / Chapter 16 - Your Looks Doesn't Matter

Chapter 16 - Your Looks Doesn't Matter

"How can one traveler, just a soil tester, get her that easily?" Andrew ask as the three seated siblings watch Thaddeus pace back and forth in the room.

Ephesus and Diane aren't outside anymore. They are inside the Castle in their separate rooms. The conversation they had wasn't long nor was it short.

Say middle length.

"It is possible but what is bothering me is if that Ryan guy did something to her. I still can't really put the misplaced pieces in my head together. There have to be something that Ryan did to make her just give in like that" Thaddeus say and sigh as he stopped pacing and just stood in front of them with his hands folded in thoughts.

It is a mystery to them that Diane have probably found someone who have won her interest. Normally, if any man come to her and ask for her hand in marriage, she flushes them.

Like literally.

But for her to start talking to a man, just like that...

This is impossible.

They all stared at the ground for a while, trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together.

"Or maybe they just want to be friends and not go into marriage. Perhaps we are the one misinterpreting them" Roy say and for once in sixteen years, he gained attention from his siblings.

"Can we place it that way?" Xelilah ask as she stands up from the cushion in the room and walks upto Thaddeus.

"We can't just conclude on something we aren't sure of. They just met. The first interest isn't anything. Let's see how far they might go" Roy say and they all nod.

He spoke sense this time.

Andrew's face becomes lighted up all of a sudden as he turn to Roy beside him.

"Since when do you speak proverbs?"

Roy smile like a little boy.

"Is that a proverb? Or some sense"

They all laughed and Andrew playfully and lightly smacked Roy's head as they laughed.

Meanwhile, Samuel is seen in the room he was placed in by King Luke with his men.

They are all staring at the mirror and the men are trembling greatly but Samuel stood like a gentleman in front of the mirror and staring at it as he spoke to whoever's reflection that is brightly displaying on the glass.

"The Princess is a hard nut. I think we might have a sharp edge on our necks" Samuel say and half of the female Queen's face that reflected on the mirror showed her lips raised up like she smiled.

The Queen that is bodily decorated, beautifully smiled. From her nose upwards is dark and so Samuel and the other men can't see that region, but from the two nostrils downwards is visible. They can see that region quite well.

Her voice is majestic and at the same time dangerous. When she speaks, even the flies around her trembles which is not known for any other Queen except her.

"So you are saying that even the charm I gave you can't get her?"

Samuel don't fidget not shiver as he faced the woman like the man he is.

"I haven't tried it yet... But it takes something more powerful than just a man to get her"

"Use the charm and stop complaining, you idiot. Do you think your looks matter to her anyway?"

The young and handsome Prince smiles wickedly both outside and in his heart. Of course, he just want to get Azel and its Princess and after that he kills this woman that orders him like he's a portable servant.

"It doesn't. Does it?"

"It does not matter, Samuel"

The wickedness in the voice of the Queen can be felt even if it's just words she uses to express it.

Samuel said nothing in reply because his looks is the major priority if he is to get the girl to like him. No girl will ever want to marry someone who looks ugly.

And if they do is because of the riches of that man, period.

Samuel smiled at the thought of this woman trying to say his looks don't matter. He is a handsome Prince after all... If he can't get the Princess herself he'll get a bride from either the maids or the female citizens of Azel.

It's an obvious and good plan to execute.

"I will do exactly as you have said, Mother" he says and the reflection of the woman faded, the mirror becoming a normal one the way he met it in Azel.

"Y-your Majesty... Is that going to be easy?" One of the guards ask and Samuel says nothing immediately.

He remembers everything.

His mother being a ruthless Queen and his father...

His father being killed at war.

The scene of his father's death was planned by his mother. They had a disagreement a night before the war and his father's health was not in a very good position. Because of the fight, his mother didn't go to war as she said she would minding her husband's health.

So the King went to war and due to his health condition, was killed by a guard unknowingly.

From that day, even to Samuel, the Queen was cruel, wicked and ruthless. She cares for no one but herself.

And the main reason why he is here, is because he have planned with his guards back in Harun.

"Even if it isn't... She will be dead in some days times, hopefully"

The guards says nothing and Ephesus sighs as a tear escapes his eye. His father's death is still affecting him and is affecting him every single day that passes by.

"In the meantime, find any girl of this Kingdom that willingly want to give herself out. If she rejects you both the first time, that is the girl I want, but if she agrees immediately, don't bring her to me"

And so be it. The two guards bowed deeply, stood up and exited the room to go and carry out their assignment.

Samuel sighs at the thought of snatching a lady from here hits him hard.

It's going to be hard to live with a girl like that, but...

All he needs is hope.

Diane is seen in her room just staring up because she is laying flat on her back and on her bed.

The thought of Ephesus (Ryan) can't just make her think straight. This thing is happening all of a sudden and it's unlike her.

She sighs and sit up on her bed and stare out the window.

For years, her father and siblings have been searching for a husband for her and now two men are at the doorstep.

Prince Samuel and Ryan.

What's going on with her emotions, now?
