Ephesus stare at her and feel the pain that she is feeling run through his body in full force.
"I mean... My Mum died and... It's been a bit hard for me... For us... In this Castle. We just feel like we lost a battle that isn't ours"
Ephesus stare at her with pity.
Who would listen to him in Azariah? His mum?
If it's his mother, that's a "No-Go" Area. Because she don't listen. She don't even want to understand.
"I am sorry to hear that" Ephesus says briefly and Diane just nod faintly and with a smile in the same category, she raised her head up from staring at the ground.
Staring at his face made a striking question to come up in her mind and then Diane smirks and Ephesus stares at her, completely confused.
"So... Mr... Ryan... I have a question for you"
Ephesus stares at Diane with a completely different expression as he listens and the smirk on Diane's face enhanced.
"Go on" Ephesus replies shortly
"Why did you say no when my father ask if you will like to marry me?"
Ephesus stares at Diane shocked. What would possibly make her mind to divert to that question at a time like this?
Diane have been earnestly waiting for this moment to interrogate a man before and feel the pleasure in it. Her mates that are married always tell her to interrogate a man and make it hard for him to get her.
"Why... Why did you ask?" he stutter
"Because I am curious. No man have ever told my father no... " She then eyes him with the same awkward smirk on her face.
"But you surprised me. So answer the question" Diane say and Ephesus can't help but stare.
Does she actually mean it right now or is it a total joke?
"Well... I guess you don't need some villager like me. A soil tester and land surveyor and... "
"I know you're lying" Diane objected and Ephesus does nothing because his heart is gradually breaking to unrejoinable pieces.
He stare at her like he saw his father's ghost.
"I am not lying"
"Yes you are. You can never be a soil tester and speak such English. You can never be a land surveyor and wear such clothes"
A reasonable girl ~ Ephesus thought
He then smiled, still staring at her.
"Land surveyors can be tattered and still have a reputation"
"I didn't say you don't have a reputation. Your appearance don't just match your quack occupation"
Ephesus nearly gawked. Did she just call him a quack? This girl really needs to learn some manners. It's very obvious.
"Are you trying to say I'm a fake?"
"If that's how you think about it, yes"
Ephesus narrows his eyes at her and she smiled like a little girl.
"Anyway, you can go back to answering the question. Just know I know you're lying about your occupation. You're something bigger than that, and I am going to find out real soon"
Ephesus says nothing to the Princess that have a very stern face on. He just stare at her with a faint smile.
We'll see about that.
"I just think you need a Prince. Someone more- "
"The Princes around here are useless. They have nothing to actually offer me so why them?" She snaps before he even end his statement.
Ephesus can't help but wonder and imagine what else this Princess have gone through in this Royal lineage. With the way she even talks about all these Royal thingies, one can know she have gone through a lot and when I say a lot, I mean a lot.
"So you don't need a Prince?" he ask, readily awaiting her reply.
Diane takes her time to answer this question. Following the question is a short silence, and then she replies.
"I need someone humble and sincere. Someone that cherish what he have. That can maintain me and see me as the only one in his own world. Someone that... that... "
She keeps quiet as she try out all the words in her brain to match it up with what she's saying.
"Someone that won't go after other women and when I die, he will never marry ever again and will never... never... "
"Never be a pursuant of women even when you die?"
Diane looks up at Ephesus and stare.
"Exactly" she whisper and he nods slowly.
"I can be a very ignorant and arrogant person when it comes to human beings, but the funniest part me is that I only relate well with people who understands me... "
She pauses and then glares at Ephesus as she proceeds.
"And you are the only person that seems to understand me"
Ephesus heart melted.
What is she trying to say?
"So... How about you be my mentor? You can teach me how to get a Prince for myself and-"
"Before I teach you, you will teach me"
Diane stare at him and the awkward smirk he have on his face.
What does he mean by that?
From the window in the high Castle of Azel, Andrew and the rest of Diane's siblings stare at the two on the swing in the garden and Thaddeus can't help but wonder what type of charm this man have used on his sister.
"So... That guy is gonna be my brother in law?" Roy asks and instead of his senior siblings to shoot at him deadly glares, as they usually do, they just stared at the two people down in the garden.
"We don't know... But he got her easily. Let's just see what happens next" Xelilah whispers and they all look at Thaddeus to see his reaction.
He don't look back at them, nor does he move. He just stare down at the two people and knitted his eyebrows in wonder.
And them something suddenly hits him.
If Ryan(Ephesus) can get to Diane, then he must be of the Royal blood.
That's the law of Royalty.
Only the Royal Blood of a Kingdom can attract the Royal Blood of another Kingdom. That's the rule and it spread all over the Kingdoms in the North.
As they stare on, Ephesus and Diane laughs about something one of them must have said.
"Is... Is this some kind of charm?" Andrew ask and they all stare at them, wide eyed.
If it's a charm, they won't be so surprised, cause charms work everytime.
But not all though, some are useless.
And then they realized...
That not all men are the same.
