As the two walked towards the carriage, Estella gave Fenrir a quick brief down about his role, and what exactly she had planned to do.
"My brother will be going to war, and while he's away I want you to lend me your power upon entering a contract, when he returns it should be after a few months. Enough time for me to just improve." Estella said.
"You want a contract for just enough time to improve? Why did you even bother me then?" He questioned, slightly insulted.
"It's much easier to just gain the power without practising. I just want a relaxing future with handsome guys." She replied, her voice a whisper at the last part. Soon, the maids bid her a good journey, unsure who the knight following her was.
He rolled his eyes, pouting. "And committing treason is easy and relaxing?" He questioned, trying to poke at her, to no avail.
Thinking it over, she agreed. "Very, for the sake of my future it is simply the best option." If the imperial family had no support from the Von Blackwood family, everyone knew the sheer amount of chaos it would ensue, treason would be best for the sake of the people.
"Why exactly do you want power, isn't your brother the one going to war?" He asked, as they were nearly to the carriage.
"Because darkness magic is useful? Even if I can control darkness, imagine how great it would be to just not move and be able to grab everything through your shadows?" She responded, clicking her tongue.
Fenrir's eye twitched slightly as he let out a "huh", before laughing. He really couldn't pinpoint her, but she was entertaining, at least.
Never had he, a great and powerful demon feared by other demons for a myriad of centuries, ever imagined to be summoned be a crazy girl who was willing to go to absurd lengths to be lazy.
Unknown to him, Estella was also thinking of other things, as well. If she managed to improve her darkness magic, she would easily be able to build her duchy up. Although she disliked the idea of taxes and doing work again in her second life, she wanted a vast harem! If she improved Estella's reputation, or had a great duchy, just imagine how many men and women would crawl to her begging for her hand in marriage.
Suddenly, Fenrir felt a chill go down his spine, causing him to look side fo side frantically, but felt no one watching him with malicious intent, "weird" he muttered.
As they approached the carriage, Aesterix happily took Estella's hand, to help her onto the carriage, paying no mind to Fenrir at all, even as Estella tried to mention him.
"Be careful, you're so tiny." Aesterix said changing the subject, laughing a little, he was a great big brother, but perhaps not a great person.
As Fenrir was about to join them in the carriage, the door shut in his face, causing him to look baffled and annoyed. How dare a mere human slam a carriage door in his face?
Estella would be lying if she said she didn't expect that to happen. "Elder brother, open the door please. My escort will be riding with us." She said while putting on her best poker face.
Unwillingly, he opened the carriage door and glared at Fenrir. As the taller blonde tried to take a seat neck to Estella, he was grabbed by the hand and forced next to Aesterix.
Crossing his arms, Aestetix finally turned his attention to the mysterious escort. "I've never seen him before, Estel, where did you find him? Couldn't he of just ridden a horse?"
Estella internally sighed, of course he would be difficult. "We're going to be traveling for a few days and we aren't taking anything much, it's better this way." She responded, completely ignoring his first question in hopes he'd forget about it.
Normally, Aesterix wouldn't of acted like this if she brought a regular knight, but he felt threatened from Fenrir's good looks almost immediately, he felt as though his sister would be led down a life of debauchery with such an unbelievably handsome man by her side.
There were plenty of blondes and plenty of blue-eyed people in the country, but just where did he come from? It was like his beauty and height was inhuman.
It was now Estella's turn to feel a slight shiver down her spine, brushing it off as feeling cold, returning to her far off daydreams of starting a harem as the carriage took off.
Aesterix let out a disgruntled whatever, as he had one arm on the carriage window, head leaning on it, while staring at Fenrir.
Fenrir's feeling was mutual, or so he believed, glaring at Aesterix as well. How was a human this rude to such a high an almighty demon? He was looking down on him, right?
For the next three days, Estella found herself stuck in the most awkward carriage ride of her entire life, to be fair, she's only ever ridden a carriage twice within the past month. Both boys had glared at each other the entire time, convinced that the other one was the worst scum.
As the sun began to set, they reached a small border town between Uriean and Aeziran, a perfect spot to finally sleep in an actual bed for once, and to stretch their legs, before continuing in early morning.
Although Estella wanted to relax, she felt it would be best if she separated the two men, and decided to take advantage and go explore, asking her brother to pay for the rooms and stay there in a small inn they had found, while she explored with her escort.
Of course, Aesterix adamantly opposed the idea while Fenrir looked extremely smug about the whole thing, but he lost in the end when Estella refused to give even an inch.
The town wasn't small, but it was extremely large either, however it was plenty lively, with little children running around. The scenery was also very pretty, plenty of green and open land, and even cattle could be seen grazing nearby.
"Maybe I should have a large field by my estate for cattle." Estella thought out loud, ignoring the stares she got from the townspeople. It was already attention grabbing that a noblewoman of probably high standing judging solely from her dress and accessories, with an escort was in town, but the two just had to be extremely good looking too.
Although it boosted his ego to be looked at, Fenrir opted to ignore the stares he got as well. "Why does a future duchess wish for cattle by their estate?" He questioned, normally someone of high standing wouldn't exactly want to be near filthy farm animals.
Without a second of hesitation, Estella responded ecstatically. "Do you see how cute those cows are? It would be amazing to be able to see them each morning and possibly pet them!" She turned her attention back to the cows, wondering if the farmer who owned them would let her pet them.
Fenrir had to hold in a snicker. Truly, he couldn't tell what was on her mind. The previous ancestors to the Von Blackwood duchy would be too stuck up to touch a cow, and yet here she was calling them cute. How times have changed. Perhaps for the better.
While Estella ran around, tugging at Fenrir, she had a lot of fun, it felt really good to be a sightseer for once. There were a few handsome men, but unfortunately they all seemed to have wives already, or were simply not her type.
After an hour had passed, the two decided to head towards a small restaurant, feeling a little bit hungry, wanting a warm meal.
When their orders came, a woman came up carrying the plates and sat them down, before quickly fetching their drinks, upon returning she accidentally tripped due to nervousness.
The coffee flew out of the cup, about to fall onto Fenrir when Estella quickly used her umbrage magic, struggling a little to put the catch the coffee into the cup.
Although she was successful, she had to quickly grasp the cup again before her shadows lost grip. She was nearly exhausted by a simple activity in the game.
She also didn't need to use her magic at all, since he could of change his clothes, but this was a much more humerus sight. Here she was out of breathe, coughing a little from using a small bit of her power for some demon who keeps making fun of her.
He did appreciate the thought though, since he couldn't just reveal he was a demon towards a regular person, and only the Von Blackwood family descendants can use darkness magic.
As the woman realized what was happening, she fell face first onto the floor and a loud smack was heard. Perhaps she should of saved the woman instead?
"I'm so sorry!" The woman said as she quickly got up and apologised realising now just who Estella was. There was only one infamous woman who controlled darkness, Estella Vyx Von Blackwood.
It seemed as though she was shaking, clearly afraid of being reprimanded and being sentenced to death or something of the sort, but Estella quick brushed it off.
"You're forgiven. It's getting late so you must be tired, but don't slack off." Estella said, an air of nobility around her.
The woman bowed and thank her for her forgiveness as she quickly ran behind the counter again, not willing to risk anything like angering her.
Fenrir hated to admit it, but Estella was much more fun than he originally thought she was. She had her moments where she seemed bold and confident, nearly crazy with her ideas as she held a poker face, but she was also childlike in others.
Smiling, he took a bite into his sandwich and looked at Estella, who only raised a brow at him. Who knows how these next three weeks will go?
