Lux quickly looked out into the corridor to see if there were any ants heading towards him. The hallway was empty, Lux sighed in relief. The NPC just sat in her usual yoga pose and didn't react at all to the commotion.
If the ants were now out of their break, Lux had to leave quickly but it wasn't as easy as it seemed. He went out of the tunnel and went back to the main storage hallway to find it plugged in. Lux bit his fingernails while nervously thinking. If he waited the ants would of course open the hole back up but he wasn't sure how long that would take and what if they discovered him in there.
He then thought of the other tunnels the hallways had, he could probably find a tunnel that looped around to the main entrance. Gritting his teeth, Lux entered the middle tunnel. It was the same as the other but was just longer. It was darker too, Lux couldn't see much but felt around the walls. He could make out a silhouette at the end of the cave, it looked like a kid- was it another NPC?
He got closer and saw that it was a little girl, behind it was the entrance to a room. Lux stared at the girl as she stared back at him with her innocent eyes, Lux didn't feel any hostility but was still cautious.
"What the heck are you anyway?" Lux looked at it some more, she had short brown hair and a round head- she was pretty cute. She also wore a little black striped shirt that was tucked into her black skirt that reached down to her knees. Lux then looked at her hand and saw a barcode on it.
It read:
"Test Sub-190Pro.Igrus.V-5".
Lux frowned, he didn't have a clue what it meant and was ready to go through before the little girl grabbed his hand. It looked at Lux with an innocent expression, like it didn't want to be abandoned.
Lux curved his lips, he had no idea what the hell kind of NPC it was and was doubting that it was even an NPC. She acted just like the other NPC Lux met but she seemed more humanoid and didn't know how to speak.
Lux put her hand down and passed her, entering a room filled with tons of black orbs. He froze in place, what the hell was this?
The whole room was filled to the brim with black orbs, they seemed to be intact too, meaning that the creatures that belonged to these orbs were still alive. On the ends of the room stood statues of stone men which surprised Lux, one of them held a battle axe and the other held a sword which was each also made of stone.
Lux laughed, "They are smart, they really are".
The ants did something Lux never even thought was possible, they took their orbs out of their own body and hid them away and that was the reason they hadn't been eradicated.
They probably weren't even level 85, Lux estimated they would be born around level 15 and would grow up to become stronger. Every time Lux saw them fighting they had tremendous strength because they had been killing the most powerful creatures with no sweat. No matter how hard a creature tried to fight they couldn't kill the ants because as long as their black orbs stayed intact they could just regenerate back up to their original state.
Lux looked at the hundreds of small black balls, but one stood out from all of them. It was a light gray one with the top of it cut off. Tons of little cracks reached all over the top as it was preserved on a pedestal.
It was encased into a weird-looking glass that looked more like clear amber, Lux used the dragon tooth dagger to cut into the amber. After some struggling Lux managed to cut into the amber which surprised Lux. The dragon tooth dagger was extremely sharp and still struggled to cut the amber.
"This amber isn't normal, is it? I wonder what created such a strong casing!" Lux managed to carve a hole into the casing and grabbed the grey orb.
Inspecting the weird grey orb, Lux looked back at the little girl. Was this her life essence? She stared at Lux in confusion, showing no signs of hostility or nervousness. With one hand Lux crushed the grey orb, the girl stood there just staring as if nothing happened. Lux suddenly got a notification.
He got a new rune, it was called Queens Crown.
But its appearance was like nothing Lux had previously seen as it was a clean diamond-shaped rune, with a white highlighting and golden sigils Lux felt like the rune was incredibly powerful.
"This must be really good!" Lux smirked but like Ice touch, Lux wasn't sure what it did exactly and was scared to put it on the wrong item.
Lux sadly didn't get any XP from breaking the ball, more explosions were heard in the distance. Lux felt a fierce force tug on his coat as he was thrown back, falling on the floor Lux looked up and saw the little girl holding the end of a sword like it was nothing.
The stone statue that Lux saw in the beginning when he entered the room was the one holding the stone sword, the other statue with the battle-axe at hand stood in a stance and stared at the little girl with anticipation. Lux was in shock, the girl saved him from getting decapitated by the stone giant!
In the midst of shock, the little girl crushed the stone sword into bits as the other stone giant swung his battle axe at her. She blocked the attack with her arm like it was just a foam sword and leaped at the giant's head, with one clean kick to the side the giant's head popped like a balloon.
Lux didn't even get to see the black orb get kicked and only saw the end product of the kick, black powder. The other giant tried to smash his hand on the back of the little girl but met his demise instantaneously as the moment the giant's hand reached the body of the girl it exploded into rocks.
The little girl then grabbed the head of the giant and raised it up in the air, clenching her hand, and the head of the giant crumbled into stone powder. She looked back at Lux and stepped in front of him. Tilting her head, she resumed her usual innocent expression.
If Lux hadn't seen what she did to those giants he would still believe that she was harmless.
"I really need to learn that even if a monster or whatever looks innocent doesn't mean it's harmless" Lux scratched his head, but the good thing was that she wasn't attacking him. She crouched down and looked at Lux with a confused face, she tilted her head down showing her silky smooth hair.
Lux felt like she was hinting at something but didn't understand, she drew her head closer to his hand.
"Do you want me to pet you?" Lux was confused. Then the girl then nodded.
Fearing she would do something if he didn't, Lux patted her head. She seemed to enjoy it really much and rubbed her head on Lux's hand. After 20 minutes of doing this, she fell asleep on Lux's lap. Lux smiled, she reminded him of the cat he left back on earth.
"It's been only a week in God's mercy but it feels like I've been here for a month, I wonder how that little guy is doing" Lux felt bad that he had abandoned his cat Nibbles and tried to think of something else.
There was a battle going on outside of the tunnels and yet the little girl managed to sleep through all the noise. Lux tried to get up but since the little girl was sleeping on him he couldn't. He carefully moved her head out of the way and used the sheep wool he got back in the storage room as a pillow for her head.
Lux looked at the orbs, he spent the next hour crushing each and every one of the orbs still everything was but dust in his wake.
Lux looked at the little girl and sighed, so far she has been nothing but useful to him so he figured he would keep her. Lux grabbed her and put her on his back. She didn't wake up at all during this and just slept like a baby. Lux looked at all the black powder, scratching his head he left the room.
More crashing was happening, Lux wondered what was going on now since he had now killed all the ants. He made it through the third tunnel and found that it was the one that actually looped around to another set of tunnels.
He took a right guessing it was the exit but ended up going back into the ravine he had previously been in.
He then saw what was going on…
A war-
