The night was bright and the moon up. Warm air blew over them, making the night even more comforting.
Fryssel had insisted on taking the first watch even against Sharen's wishes. He had given in at last, giving the boy the chance to do as he wanted. There was something about him that made Sharen agree in the end. The boy seemed desperate to prove himself to the team—and mostly to him.
Sharen had a vague idea that the boy was warming up to him so he would change his mind and take him as an apprentice. But Sharen found that idiotic. There was no way he could take the boy as an apprentice. He had no magic that he could train and for physical powers, Sharen too wasn't that strong with his hands.
