~She changed me a lot~
Every time he had time, Victor would visit Evelyne's place and do his work there. For him, not seeing Evelyne for a day would make him not at peace. The memory about the past would come and disturb him. In order to make sure Evelyne was in good condition, he would visit her, even though he could ask her about her condition via chat.
This morning, when he just checked his phone, a chat came.
'I will come to your place today. So wait for me!!!'
Victor's lip curved as he read the content. It was indeed from Evelyne. "This girl really surprised me from time to time," he let out a small laugh then typed his reply.
'Okay, I will wait. Be careful on your way!'
After he checked his phone and took a bath, he went to his study room. There he was reading his book while waiting for Evelyne to arrive. Yet, the thought of Evelyne would come, disturb him. "When will she come?"
Every five minutes Victor checked his phone, waiting for news from Evelyne. "What's she doing that takes this long?"
A few minutes later, a beeping sound from his apartment door was heard, which meant Evelyne had arrived. As he knew Evelyne's apartment pin, she knew his as well. It was her birthday. He set it that way because he was inspired by how Evelyne used his birthday as her pin.
"Victor!!!" Evelyne shouted while she was walking toward Victor who just left his study room and closed the door.
"What took you so long to come here?" Victor walked toward her. "Wait," he stopped. "What are those?" His eyes widened in surprise. Evelyne brought a big bag that was full.
With a giggle, Evelyne answered. "I'm going to give you a treat for today." She entered Victor's apartment. Her eyes shone bright, which showed how her heart was doing.
"Whoa, Victor! Your apartment is always tidy." Even though it wasn't her first time visiting his apartment, Evelyne was amazed by how organized it was. "You know, I'm always envious of this!"
"Well, I know you're too lazy for that," Victor snickered, which made Evelyne pout. He followed Evelyne to his kitchen.
Evelyne pouted. She slammed the bag on the table and took a deep breath while her hands took out one by one everything inside the bag. "Yeah, yeah. I'm too lazy for that." When she took out an apple, she stopped. "But, how about cooking? Without me, you won't have healthy food!" Evelyne continued unpacking her belongings and storing them in Victor's kitchen.
There were plenty of differences between Evelyne and Victor. First, their living. They both live in an apartment with almost the same size and facilities. Yet Evelyne put more attention to her study room only while Victor organized everything in his apartment.
Another big difference was their kitchen. Victor rarely cooked and mostly bought fast food. That was why his kitchen was relatively empty - he used his kitchen mostly just to store mineral water and emergency foods. Unlike him, Evelyne liked to cook, even though she rarely had time for it. So her kitchen had plenty of supplies at least for simple daily cooking.
Since Evelyne and Victor knew each other, Evelyne used to cook for him, and that was what she was to do now. She brought a bag of food ingredients and fruit supplies. Thanks to her, Victor looked much better compared with how he was before.
When she finished taking out the ingredients, she began to cook. Started with the spices she needed, and continued with peeling then steamed two potatoes. While waiting for the potatoes to be cooked, she cut the beef into small pieces.
"Hmmm…. hmmm…" she hummed as her hands worked.
"Is this the first time you prepare this meal? I have never seen you make this before." Victor asked in curiosity.
Evelyne took a short glance at him. "Yeah, Jovan taught me before. So, maybe this one is my second try?" While smashing the steamed potatoes, she continued. "Don't worry, I'm sure it'll be delicious."
Hearing Evelyne said Jovan's name like that, Victor felt his heart ache weirdly. He felt jealous that Evelyne had a smile because of someone that wasn't him. 'Oh come on. They just talked about recipes! Why should I feel this weird?'
"I know. Your cooking is always the best," he smiled. "You know, other than fast food, I only eat your cooking."
"Really?!" Evelyne almost dropped two plates of potatoes that were ready to bake. "No wonder the first time I saw you, you looked like a monster," she continued after she put the potatoes into the oven. "Only when I start to cook for you, you look better."
"Monster?" Victor tilted his head. "Did I look that scary?" He pointed out his finger toward himself in disbelief.
Evelyne started to tidy the kitchen back as she nodded. "Yes. That's why I really want to cook for you. I was even wondering why you looked like that when you're a medical student."
"Stop it, I will clean it," Victor took over the tidying. "You have cooked for me, so I will tidy everything up."
"Haha, it's because you can clean it better right?" Evelyne said sarcastically and walked back to have a seat.
"It's not that. I meant it," replied Victor. "Anyway, thank you for taking care of my meal. Honestly, it's boring and not healthy to only eat fast food. But I don't have time to learn and cook for myself."
Ten minutes passed and the potatoes were ready. Evelyne took a napkin and opened the oven. "Here, it's potato pie," she served it on the table.
"Thank you."
Both of them were sitting on the chair, enjoying the pie together. "Talking about your meal. I enjoy making it and looking that you look better makes me happy. You can say cooking is my favorite routine."
"Thank you for that." Victor smiled. 'This girl changes me as well. I wonder what would happen if I didn't meet her that day.'
