Chapter 24 - A Close Victory Ought to be Celebrated

Without a second thought, Solis automatically jumped back as far as he could and was barely able to dodge a lightning bolt that struck him. Unfortunately, the resulting afterblast and residual electricity that scattered outwards still hit him, as he was now reduced to only 1 HP.

"F**k me…!"

Bolts of lightning were still incessantly pouring down on him, all of which originated from Yahtorn's electric field. He had no choice but to go back to where he came from.

"What's wrong, little worm? Can't handle a tiny bit of residual lightning? Wait, of course you can't! Bwahahaha!"

"This sick son of a b**ch…!" Solis cursed under his breath. "But at least this time, he's definitely out of mana. His Character Window even displays his mana bar to be all used up. He can't strike back now after his lightning skill ends!"

That's what he thought, however, reality can often be disappointing. Crushing his hopes that the magic power assault would no longer continue on, Yahtorn slowly took out a blue bottle from his clothes and made a move to drink it. When he saw this, a nerve finally broke inside Solis' head as he screamed out loud,

"That's f***ing it! I've had enough of this! SCREW EVERYTHING!"

Willing himself to even die, Solis charged straight at him to make a last-ditch effort attack, which caught Yahtorn by surprise. As of now, the Charging Force skill's duration had already ended, so he didn't have to care about anything else other than reaching his target at the fastest speed possible before he could ingest the mana potion.

When Solis got really close to Yahtorn the gravity suddenly multiplied, but he already anticipated this change. In a panic, Yahtorn hurriedly threw out a straight punch, to which Solis promptly reacted by ducking down and then executing a sweeping low kick to his feet.

"Ahh!"

As a result, the fat ogre tumbled down without much difficulty due to him being overweight. Wasting no time at all, Solis then slithered onto Yahtorn's wide neck and raised his dagger up before quickly bringing it down.

"ORAAAAA!!!"

Solis mercilessly embedded the dagger in Yahtorn's throat, causing a fountain of red blood to gush out and splash everywhere; some even getting on his face, bloodying it malevolently. The following scene of him repeatedly stabbing someone's neck looked extremely horrifying and demonic that it would make anyone who witnessed it have a heart attack and faint on the spot from fright.

"Die! Die! Die! F***ing die b**ch!"

[The Rising Attack Scroll's effects have ended.]

A notification abruptly popped up, snapping Solis out of his crazed state. He blinked his eyes and came back to his senses. When his focus was now a bit clearer, a terrifying bloody image of a dead body lay before him. Not paying the gore any mind, he instead heaved a sigh of relief that he finished the job just in time prior to the effects of the scroll wearing off.

"Good lord. The ugly bastard's finally dead…"

[Ding! Congratulations! The player has leveled up 2x and has now become level 3!]

His experience bar was amazingly filled up twice from defeating a level 10 opponent, and he only needed a little bit more to get to level 4. Additionally, when he had leveled up, all of the injuries accumulated on his body instantaneously disappeared when a warm light enveloped him out of nowhere. The green bar which was his health points was also back to a full tank, as well as the blue mana bar.

He felt refreshed and anew like he was reborn out of a grueling tribulation. But, as much as wanted to bathe in the afterglow and take a nice rest, Solis knew that there was still another pressing matter to resolve.

The sounds of weapons clashing together and rapid quick movements could be heard even until now. Solis took a cursory glance at Valedd and Gaius' battle, but it seemed like no one had a clear upper hand in their bout.

'Even though you said that you would quickly deal with the horseman and help me. Man, what a piece of sh*t. He probably expected me to die anyway; he just wanted to have some leeway even for a short amount of time.'

Still, there was something he had to do first before joining Valedd and jumping back into the fray. Solis voice-commanded the Game Menu to appear and quickly went to the Character section, then pressed his Status Window to reveal it.

He currently had four available attribute points to spend, so he added plus one to Dexterity to make it five, then put the rest of it to his Strength stat. Done with that, he closed the Game Menu and placed his attention back on Yahtorn's corpse. Solis didn't notice it earlier, but the face Yahtorn made after he died was quite awful: the fat ogre looked to be so horrified out of his goddamn mind that he was frothing at the mouth and his eyes were rolled over. He considered him to be deader than dead.

'I wonder what sort of loot this guy dropped. He's still a game mob, after all.'

Solis' thoughts soon digressed to more important things. He inspected Yahtorn's dead body closely, and that's when he discerned a blue outline on the fat ogre's loose-fitting robes that wasn't there a second ago.

"Hmm? The heck's up with this?"

Somehow feeling like he was being urged by an unknown impulse, Solis reached out his hand for the robe, and just when his fingertips touched the fine silk, a notification window popped out.

[Place the 'Magician's Robes' into your Inventory? Yes/No]

"Oh, so it apparently was an item."

Realizing this, Solis nodded to himself and pressed the 'Yes' option next. Immediately, Yahtorn's corpse was left with only a loincloth to cover his nether regions, as the robe on his body suddenly vanished into thin air.

"What the…?"

Solis couldn't help but let his gaze wander all over Yahtorn once more, and he instantly regretted not controlling himself. Droplets of blood then trickled down unto the ground, splashing one after another with a soft pitter-patter.

"This ugly bastard… He still wants to leave a mental scar on me even after death."

What he saw… he didn't even want to describe it unless he means to create an indelible imprint of the nasty image forever in his mind.

"Sh*t…! F**k you, you f***ing fat f**k! Since you couldn't kill me you want to leave me mentally scarred instead, huh?!?"

Solis abruptly stood up from his spot and gathered every ounce of strength he had on his right leg. Then, without further ado, he kicked the disgusting corpse away to kingdom come!

"Haaa… Haaa… Hauuu…"

He started panting afterwards, taking a couple of deep breaths to calm his raging heart down.

"Dammit. I think I need to bleach my eyes after seeing that…"

Subsequently, Solis started rubbing his eyes roughly before ultimately letting out a fatigued sigh. He dropped his head down unconsciously, yet that's when he spotted several other items lying on the ground.

"Oh, there's still more… I guess all of the other drops were hidden away in his robes before I removed the—"

He abruptly cut his sentence one word short, realizing that he would be making a massive mistake here if he continued, as it will definitely trigger something unholy that he'd already done burying deep within the recesses of his mind.
