"Long live your majesty" the masked oracle began and at once everyone snapped at attention. As a custom, no one was allowed to see the face of the oracle or who the oracle was. This was to maintain the air of mystery around the figure.

Being such a public figure, no one could be allowed to have a personal connection with such a person or it would go against the natural flow of things. So the mask was an integral part of that ceremony, or so was how it was described to most.

However, rumours always made their way across so everyone had an idea who this masked figure was, or at least they thought they did.

No one was aware of just how outdated their information about the happenings inside the temple was.

In this situation, an ordinary person should have kneeled in front of the king and paid their respect but the oracle did not need to follow such formalities. Instead, a bow was enough to convey his respect for the authority.
