A rather pleasant evening befell the people of Clegane, and peace was restored to the city. But nothing pleasant would ever be given upon the Wolf Queen during her time in Clegane. The city itself looked decent, yet it still reeked of demon blood and filled with a dark curse. Sorcery from the kingdom of Midland would always protect the demon kings who served Mephiles. The Demon Wolf gave a sample of his magic to those who vowed to rule the other kingdoms of the world in his name.
As Lagertha continues walking to Clegane's castle, she feels the icy wind breezing quickly towards her body. She had the strength that would only take her halfway through her journey. The Wolf Queen knew she needed the purple flames inflicted inside her blade to fend off against greater opponents. She heads to the castle to release the dark curse surrounding Clegane and its people. She then places her hand on her hilt to fight against whatever force should come against her.
Unlike most of the humans, Lagertha feared no creature of the night, and she never feared the traps set before her. Even though she had lots of connections to the king of Midland, she only cared about protecting her best friend. Brant was the only person in her life whom she had the most sympathy for as she traversed the cold earth. She kept walking until the dark castle of Clegane was the only thing she could see. The Wolf Queen kept following the road leading to the castle until the road stopped her in her tracks.
Lagertha was ready for any creature with a sharp weapon in their hands to put her out of her misery. She awaited those who served the Demon Wolf to make her blood rot in the air. But alas, she gazed at the mighty castle to see how many souls she could take to make her blade much stronger. As she took a long look, she was still thinking about Brant and wondered if lifting the curse would let him fight another day. She did not know; standing before the front doors was simply a waste of her time and the demon king's time.
Without hesitation, Lagertha opens the front doors of the castle and walks inside as the moon becomes visible. She then pulls out her longsword and prepares herself against an onslaught that would make others flee. The humans who saw her as an enemy knew she was too powerful for them to handle. They could not care less if she would die in a ditch in some forest somewhere. Lagertha did not want to be enemies with humanity; she did not want her soul to be as dark as the Demon Wolf's soul.
The power of Bloodbringer was enough to make the souls of Lagertha's enemies tremble before her. She took enough souls of the night creatures to make both humans and demons fearful of her presence. The Wolf Queen had no reason to back away from the power of demon kings and servants of Mephiles. She holds aloft her longsword to fend off against any opponent who is ready to have a taste of her flesh. She ventures deep into the castle to make her way towards the throne room.
"Your time… grows ever shorter, yet who walks in endless shadows. You have no power over me. Your petty humans will fear us and fall to their knees before the lord of the earth," a dark voice said. Lagertha checks her surroundings to see where the voice came from and wonders if she is hearing things.
Lagertha's blade grows hotter every time a demonic presence is felt, and it will continue to side with its master. The demon king feels the Wolf Queen's presence inside his castle, and he tempts her. While doing this, the candles lit around the castle glowed brighter than the time Lagertha stepped foot into the castle. It was as if the palace itself knew the daughter of Midland's king would come and kill the leader of Clegane's castle.
"You will not see the end of this night, queen of the wolves. I will devour your soul and feast on your flesh. Your power will never save you," the demon king said.
"Why don't you come out and face me, demon king? There's no point in hiding in the dark. Your fellow servant, Mundis, is dead by my hand," Lagertha said.
"Mundis was one of the stronger servants of Midland. Bound by King Mephiles's magic. It would be impossible for a commoner to defeat a servant with sorcery," he said.
"So much potential wasted by that beast. You need better minions and a bigger supply of creatures to do more of your bidding. You'll have to do much more of that if you're going to fight me."
"You dare insult me, foul scented mortal? A servant of the conqueror of worlds?"
"A loyal servant of Mephiles does not hide, demon king! Leave your throne and face me!"
There was hardly anything happening for a short while as Lagertha waited for her new enemy to show himself. The Wolf Queen continues holding her longsword and waits for whatever sorcery the demon king of Clegane has up his sleeve. Lagertha had no time to be dealing with those who had no desire to leave their habitat and fight her. She holds her longsword against the atmosphere and wonders if anything unusual would happen to her. Then, a man appears in a puff of black smoke coming from the ceiling, and he stands in front of her.
"Your presence… your form. So you're the demon king of this castle," Lagertha said.
"You learned much during your travels on this earth. There are many tales of your travels on Earth, Wolf Queen. Your blade can cut down even the strongest servant of the one true king," the demon king said.
"And I will gladly do it all over again. It was proven yesterday that your feeble servants and your hellish magic hold no power over me. I will hunt down every creature of darkness and rid their existence from the earth," she said.
"I am Ronove, the king of Clegane. Those very people will bow their heads before me or they shall suffer. We are the superior force on Earth… you are just a human being."
"You can tell your master that I am not ready for Hell. Your people, your master, and your king. They already know me for the demon slayer I am. The king of Midland already knows that I have defeated even those that even an earl will find impossible to defeat. Mundis would have defeated me without my sword, but I've always fought back against your kind. I'm beyond that of a human. I suppose you know that by now."
"Again, Mundis was a fine servant. He was one of the more… loyal servants of King Mephiles. I see now that even the most obedient servants will meet their end. Your luck will eventually run out. However, I give you this one offer. Surrender to me… and your boyfriend will fight another day. Surrender… and Clegane's people will be free from my grasp."
Lagertha continues holding her longsword and begins looking down at herself after receiving such an offer. Her blade would never leave her side, nor should it ever fall to the wrong hands. She understands the offer would be something that a commoner would not throw away; it would make the weakest man accept it without a second thought. It would make the vilest offender of a certain city give in to the demon king's power. Lagertha holds her blade and starts pointing it at Ronove's face.
"Or...?" Lagertha asked.
"Or I will slice you open, rip your heart out, and deliver your head to the greatest of all kings. You will never escape me," Ronove answered.
"I can try," she said. Without a second thought, the Wolf Queen dashes towards the demon king with her longsword.
In a blink of an eye, Ronove pulls out his greatsword and clashes his weapon with his new opponent. Neither of them hesitated in fighting against each other, and they were both determined to survive the night. Their swords were much more powerful and more durable than a common blade; their weapons could skewer even the most powerful carnivore. They were both expecting their souls to never escape their bodies and take the form of something far greater. Both Lagertha and Ronove swung their double-edged swords against each other; the night was still very young as the castle's power grew stronger.
It appeared to Lagertha that Ronove was certainly more fierce and more contemptuous in defending his castle than the other demon kings. Because of the way he appeared and moved around, the Wolf Queen has the assumption that Ronove is just as challenging as Mundis was in combat.
