Chereads / His Childhood Playmate / Chapter 2 - SOFIA

Chapter 2 - SOFIA

Meanwhile, Sofia stared at the three boxes in front of her. Her mom and Aunt Rose went shopping today, and she had no choice but to wake up early and helped. She grabbed two boxes and made her way into the house.

She dropped the boxes on the table, and returned outside, picking up the last two boxes left. On her way out of the house, she reached for the door handle and open it. When she was about to take a step, a tall, handsome man stood in front of her. She was stunned for a moment, lost for words, unable to speak.

"Everything okay?" Sofia spun at the sound of the voice, that was Aunt Rosie, her Mom's friend, coming toward their direction.

"Oh, I see you two have met. Sofia, this is Steven, my son---remember?" Aunt Rosie said.

"Hi! It's good to see you," Steven said looking at her, still couldn't believe the girl in front of him was the ugly Aya he had known before.

"Hello!" Sofia grins.

Steven sneaked a glance every chance he can to observe her. Sofia looks at him twice, but her face still registers the indifference earlier.

He stared at her as she went in. This woman isn't just beautiful but also very stubborn. He mumbles as his mind wanders back to her. As far as he can remember, she's not that pretty ten years ago. "How did she become beautiful like that?" he asks himself.

Sofia's mom soon came out from the kitchen and saw Steven come in.

"Sofia, my dear! Go and prepare some snacks."

"Okay, Mom," Sofia answered.

Steven cast a glance at her and offered, "Can I help?"

Sofia's mom replied, "Well since you want to, why not?"

Sofia looked at Steven in surprise, wondering what's gotten into him. In the past ten years, he seemed to have changed a lot. He was so arrogant, cold, and distant before, he didn't like to be with her and even called her ugly.

"Why do you look so nervous?" Steven asked.

Sofia looked at him in surprise. "No, I'm not," she said, walking to the dining room and Steven followed her.

Meanwhile, in the living room, Sofia's Mom and Steven's mom were busy chatting.

Steven insisted on helping, but Sofia didn't dare to speak or ask, and surprisingly Steven didn't bully her this time.

After they finished preparing the snack, they decided to go back to the living room.

Steve asked her in a sweet voice, "Aya, do you have something to do today?"

"I woke up so early, so I need to take a nap," she replied without looking at him.

"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow then," Steven answered and give her a warm smile.

"Gosh! He's so weird!" she murmured.

"Huh---?"

Oh, no! Did he hear me? "Uhm, nothing," she said and shook her head. After saying that, she stood up and left. She walked to the staircase and ran upstairs before Steven can respond.

Steven crossed his arms and was about to speak to her when suddenly his mom came in.

"Where's Aya?" his mom asked, holding a glass of juice.

"In her room, I guess she's tired."

"A-right son! Let her rest, I'll go back to your Aunt Helga in the dining."

Steven grabs the remote control, turned on the television, and stayed there until lunch. Not only that, but he was hoping Aya would come out of her room, but it was almost getting dark, and Sofia didn't even come out for many hours. It was evening now, and he is about to leave and so sad he didn't see her before going home. He had this strange feeling within him since he saw her after ten years. He thinks he likes her, but will Aya believe him?
