The next day, Sofia's alarm clock is ringing, and she stretched out her hand to the bedside table to stop it. Yawning lazily, she struggled to open her eyes and looked at the time. It was almost seven in the morning.
In a haste, she got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to freshen up. Afterward, she went downstairs for breakfast. With a bright smile on her face, she quickly walked into the kitchen, only to be surprised when she saw Steven sitting at the dining table together with her Mom.
What is he doing here? No, no! It's impossible. How can he be at my house this very early? He looks so handsome when he smiles. Our eyes met just now, and I felt my heart beats faster than usual. Sofia thought that she would no longer feel that with him, but at that moment it was difficult to breathe, as if her heart was beating faster.
"Good morning, Aya!" Steven greeted without removing his eyes from her.
"What's good in the morning!? What brings you here??Don't you have something to eat in your home?" She asked sarcastically, but Steven just smiled.
"Sofia—watch your mouth," Her mom said and glared at her. She turned to Steven and smiled apologetically.
Sofia saw the naughty smile on her Mom's face, and she doesn't like it. Strange!
"Come on, Sofia, sit down and have breakfast," Her Mom said, looking at her. Sofia just walked past him and sat on the chair next to her Mom.
Looking at Steven, her Mom said while smiling, "I'm so excited about this year's summer vacation because you and your Mom are spending it with us."
"Me too, Aunt Helga." Steven replied with a sweet smile.
"Sofia, are you alright, dear?" Her Mom said as she turns to look at her.
"Yeah," She replied but somehow her forehead broke out in a sweat, and she trembled a little. Steven looked more handsome and very different from how he was ten years ago. She tried to be calm and started to put some food on her plate.
"You and Steven haven't seen each other for ten years, I guess I'll leave you two now---" Mom said as she stood up and turned her back on us, heading into the living room.
With a mischievous smile on his face, Steven poured a fruit juice in a glass, and he then reached out and handed it to her. At that moment, Sofia felt strange, and her heart was beating faster.
"Sofia! Are you okay?" Steven asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" she mumbled.
Throughout the breakfast, Sofia could feel his stare, but she didn't look back at him and pretended not to know it. Right after having breakfast, she hurriedly went back to her room.
"What's wrong with me?" Sofia blurted out as she rested her head against the door, taking in a deep breath, a sudden knock startled her. She opened the door only to see Steven's face just a few inches away from her. She froze.
"Hey, are you avoiding me?" Steven said with his signature smirk.
"No, why should I?"
Sofia turned her back against him, then sat in bed. Steven then followed, sat next to her, and pressed his hand against her forehead. His touch made her feel uneasy and her whole body trembled.
Seeing that Sofia didn't want to answer his question, Steven stood up and headed through the door. He looked back and said in a low tone, "I guess you're just tired, See you tonight!"
In the blink of an eye, his face lightened. He then closed the door and walked out of her room.
