Examination day is approaching, Brianna is getting nervous by each day that passes. stressing herself in studies that she had even forgotten about eating and sleeping, always in the library with books.
The prince is getting worried about her health, so is michelo. It is evening, Brianna as usual, got out from the bathroom, dressed up and carried her books to the library. For days now she has not been herself.
"Brianna, what are you doing to yourself? Don't you know that you are putting so much pressure on your head?"Michie asked, very concerned.
"I want to prove him wrong, Michie! I won't give him this chance to turn me down!" Sit back in bed crying.
"Who, Brianna?" Sit with her. " Who are you talking about?"
" Promise me you won't discuss this to anyone." She pleaded.
"I promise." michelo.
"It's Honorable Charles."Cry hard, "our head of school, of humanities. He made it clear to me that if I won't sleep with him he will make sure I fail." sobbed.
"That's nonsense!" Shout. " How dare he say that!" raise up angrily.
"Lower your voice, the girls might hear this and start making fun of me." Sit her down. Just after they sit, someone knocked at the door. They looked at each other suspicious, they didn't expect anyone.
" Who's there?" Michelo asked.
" Lawrence." answered.
Just by hearing his name, Brianna run to bed and buried herself in blanket, "Tell him I'm not there."
"Hold on." She put on sleepers and walked out, closing the door behind her. " Hey Lawrence, what brings you here this late? Actually Brianna is not around." She explained herself even before asked.
"I came for you, actually. Can we talk?"
"Yes, yes." Uncomfortably agreed.
The two walked a bit and sit down on a corridor chair. It is safe to talk since the girls are out for fun.
"Eish, where did he take her? " pacing from side to side in worry. "I hope she's keeping her mouth shut, that talkative girl." She spoke within her self." staring through the window.
"So, what's this for?" She asked. Michie is a straight forward person, she doesn't like to be kept waiting.
"It's about Brianna." Stop for a breath. " Michie, I have noticed lately that she's been panic, and that's really worries me alot. Hope you have seen that in her too and I know why."
"Yes you are right." sighed, " but wait, how do you mean, when you said, you know why she's like that?"
He take a deep breath again, " you guys are friends, I'm sure she must have told you about something bothering her, and please don't dent it because I know you do."
She sighed and said nothing.
"Michie, Brianna is indeed being troubled by him, and I want you to help me on this, what I'm about to do, just to help her."
"I'm in already, if this will really help my friend to be herself again." rose up. "Just tell me what I should do."
"Sit down Michie, we are still talking." pull her back on the sit.
"I have a plan which I will need you to help me make her understand the situation." Stop for a breath again." Michie, I know you won't like my idea too, but it's the only way I have thought of, in helping her."
"Say it already, you are making me more curious." she curiously demanded.
"I want to fake a relationship with her, announcing it to everyone in front of the man."
Michie is always silly never take matters seriously with a second thought, "wow, that's very sweet." Clapping joyfully.
" Relax, i know she will hate me for this, but I just want to help her."
"I know, I know." celebrating. " count me in, if you want, take her for real, handsome." Playful pinch on his cheeks.
"Ok. " Hold her hands down. " Keep this to yourself for now till our plan works, ok?"
" Sir, yes sir." excitedly salute. Then she realized, but wait, you are fighting to help her, what about your exam, Ain't you worried about it?"
"Don't worry about my exam, I can handle it. Take care Michie, bye." perk her on a cheek and left. She remained there standing like a statue with excitement of that perk.
Michelo came back later and found she had fallen asleep after waiting for so long. Michie stare at her sleepy friend with so much care and perk on her forehead then she climbed her bed and switched off the light.
It is morning and almost 8:30 that Brianna suddenly rose from bed after realizing she was late for a class. Without wasting time, she run into the bathroom, take a quick shower and in no time she was running out with her bag.
Brianna's sit is empty and honorable Charles is already in class. "Good morning." He greeted the students with eyes fixed on Brianna's empty sit. "I believe some loose students have already found themselves lovers," Breathed out, " but it's normal, you guys are adults and old enough to think." speaking in riddles mean while relating to Brianna whom he hasn't seen in class.
Johnson, always joke around and makes everyone have something to laugh about. After the lecturer was quite, he passed a comment, " You are right sir, like me and my girl, Tasha." He just point at a random girl sitting next to him and everyone Burst into laughing and cheering, clapping.
"He is very right and very honest. I like that." Mr Charles recommended. " Who else has found love, just be frank.
Other guys stood with their girlfriends and the rest sitted cheering.
" Any other campus love?"
It was silent for a while when Slowly Lawrence stood. All eyes on him wandering which girl is the luckiest.
"Are you alone in this relationship, Mr?" teased him since he doesn't even like him.
Before he could say anything, he looked at Temba whom he found staring at him very curious as everyone. He never told him he had a girl.
"Tell us man" Everyone insisting.
" Alright, ok. Brianna, is my woman." He confessed this at the very moment that she walked in and everyone turned their eyes on her. Very nervous and embarrassed She run out sobbing as everyone cheering and clapping, whistling.
"O God, this isn't a good sign." Michie turned down her face.
Temba sighed in disappointment. Lawrence had to run after her leaving Everyone to wander.
"Class is dismissed. He walked out looking ok, yet very angry inside. Everyone rushed to catch up with Brianna and Lawrence.
"Hold on Brianna!" Hold her back by the hand.
"Enough!" Give him a very hot slap that shocked everyone around, "What was the meaning of the nonsense you just did there? How dare you ruining my reputation, who do you think you I, huh?" push on him angrily with tears running down her cheeks.
Seeing how awkward the moment was and how every class members where staring at them, he didn't have any other thing to do than to pull her in a kiss. Michie is cought by surprise, she goggled and covered her mouth with a palm. phone cameras are all over them, capturing the romantic scene as they circled them. Mr Charles watching up from the window of his office, he cursed.
Brianna managed to pull out from his grip and ran away very embarrassed. Everyone clapping as she run, michelo wasted no time than she run after her to their room, guilty of knowing of what was truly happening. Everyone started walking away leaving Lawrence standing idly he looked aside and noticed Temba who later walked away as well.
Sighed deeply and rubbed his face with a palm, "I'm really sorry Brianna, I had no any other way of preventing people's suspicion of our relationship, but I hope you forgive me soon." Walking away to his room.
She reached the room crying and turned everything upside down, thrashing them against the wall, weeping bitterly.
" That was awesome girl....." All the three got shattered when they saw what she had turned the room into.
"Brianna, what have you done?" Michie run to her, weeping on the floor.
"Why would you punish your self like this over a mare kiss, Bri?" Cindy one of the roommate.
"yeah, Bri, Why?" Sandy the roommate too.
But she said nothing and went on crying. Michie felt more guilty even though she is holding her in the arms, comforting her, but she can't do anything for she is fighting to help her with the exam.
The prince entered the room and met angry Temba who gazed at him quietly.
"Look Temba, I know you do not approve of my behavior today, but....
" But what your majesty?" For the first time he yelled at him, without minding of his status. "Do you realize the aftermath of your careless act?"Yelled. " It seems you have forgotten about who you really are, and I guess you need a reminder. " Moved close with a glare, " You are an aperint hair to the thrown of great Yashilan, next after your father, and not a commoner! What where you thinking when you kissed her in public?" Blazing in framing anger.
" I know what I'm doing, you know. I am not a little child to see that!"
"Really? " Questioned him, right on his face. " I guess you didn't noticed the flashes of cameras from those students, watching your good kissing. Very soon they will start uploading those clips and what will you tell your father and the public?"
Temba left the prince in deeper thinking of what to do next.
EXAMINATION DAY
Papers have been distributed already when Lawrence walked in the hall, he and Charles had a little talk before he came in, and only them knows what was discussed.
"Hey young man, this isn't your father's house, you could just come in at any time you feel like. This is an exam room, get out of here!" yelled, the invigilator.
"Sorry sir, actually, I'm the one at fault, I sent him somewhere, please allow him in."
This made everyone who knows Charles better to wander of what was going on. He is one person who is said to be cold hearted, to stand for any student, even when it was his fault. Many students had missed exams because of his actions. Lawrence is allowed to sit in an exam because he spoke on his behalf, after learning about the true identity of the young man he despise so much. A prince of his kingdom, not only an ordinary prince, but the next of kin after the might king Yashi as well as the prime minister of higher education sector. Now that he has known, Mr Charles is living in fear of his actions after making him hear of his recorded conversation with Brianna and any other of his past crimes. What will be the prince's next action against him and his fellow University culprits when he leaves the University. This thought really gives him goose bams
The exams were over, Brianna left without even looking back at Lawrence, nor wait for Michelo. Lawrence didn't want to disturb her mood by running after her, since now his mission is done in helping her. He watched her leaving and faced down in guilty.
"Hey man, go after her." Johnson Whispered on his ear.
Lawrence only looked at him with a fake smile and he left
It is Monday mid afternoon that every little of the student who wrote the exams have gathered by the notice board, panicing to see their results. Those that managed to check come out celebrating, some very disappointed. Brianna stood behind trembling in fear of what could be the outcome, after a recalling a conversation she had with Mr Charles, week ago and she had no more courage left in her to check. She turned to leave when a certain girl said something that made her change her mind, "look who is here, Our best student of this year!" She said it loud
Brianna stopped freeze when she realized all eyes was on her.
" Brianna, oh goodness," Pull her into a hug," congratulations my dear besty, you came out the best student and fully qualified Humanity student." Michie said all these facing her.
" Congratulations, miss, you've made history. Non of the female students have ever come out first, in O level exams." The school union president, male, came to congratulate her.
Brianna thought this was all a lie. She slowly and shaking walked to the board to see for herself and found out that indeed she was the first of the thousands plus students who attended the exams. Out of emotion, she leaned her forehead on the board and sobbed, everyone sympathize with her and got emotional. Prince Lawrence couldn't hold himself neither, when he wiped a drop from his eyes and left quietly, but Michie noticed him as he walked away she sighed and hold her friend close in her arms.
