Chapter 13 - HOMELESS

The king didn't forget about the humiliation he went through at the cemetery. He vowed to pay them back at any cost. A month had passed since Mr Sosala died. His wife and daughter are trying to live without him. The wound is freshened when the two men who last visited Mr Sosala in the ICU, over the loan issue knocked on their door.

"I'm coming." Grace ran to check on the one knocking. She opened the door and found two strangers standing.

"Miss Grace Sosala, I suppose." One of the men asked.

"Yes, how may I help you?"

Instead of saying something, he produced the police permit that speaks of throwing her and the mother out of the house and lock the doors. " We are from the authorities, your days of staying in this house has now come to an end and you need to leave immediately, for this house now belongs to the new owner.

"No, wait please. You can't throw us out just like that, there should be some extending period for us to look for a place to stay, right?"

" We are sorry ma'am, but the owner demand that you vacate immediately." The second man spoke.

"Where do you think we will go all of the sudden?"

"What's going on, Grace?" Mrs Sosala came out asking.

" Madam you have been given 3 hours to pack your belongings and vacate the house as the owner demands.

"Who is this new owner?" Curiously asked, Mrs Sosala.

"I am," a voice spoke from behind.

They looked up, only to see Mr Imakando.

" Gentlemen, please assist them packing." He ordered the palace guards who immediately pushed Grace and her mother out of the way and invade the house. They scattered to every room.

"Wait please, you cannot do this to us. Where do you think we will go?" Mrs Sosala chasing after the man who took a direction to her room.

As though he couldn't hear her pleading, he continued carrying her things, throwing them outside. On the other hand, Grace as well is pleadung with the other men who paid no attention to her.

She saw it useless to continue pleading with the men when the one giving instructions is outside freely. She ran out side and fell before his feet, clinging on his leg pleading in great sorrow.

"Please sir, don't do this to my poor mother and I. Where will we go, please."

Mrs Sosala joined her daughter in pleading," I beg you Mr Imakando, give us even a week to look for a place to go, please." She cried. " Remember he was once your partner, your friend."

Mr Imakando is filled with remorse, but he can't change now, for the king is behind everything.

" Make sure you throw every of their belongings outside." A voice spoke suddenly.

Grace slowly unbend to see whose voice it was, only to see Princess Lukundo staring at her. "Surprise, surprise best friend." With an attitude, she said. " I know you didn't expect to see me here, am I right?" She give out a mocking smile, so did Mrs Immakando.

Grace rise up, " What more do you want from me Princess? Haven't you taken everything from me?" She asked while shedding tears.

" Not yet, Grace. I want you out of this, my father's kingdom!"

" Guards, hurry up, lock the door. Their clothes is enough for them." Mrs Immakando ordered.

The guards did as told, they locked the house door, carrying them outside the gate and locked it too, then handed over the keys to Mrs Immakando.

"Anna you are a woman, please don't harden your heart and give us a chance, please." She runs after her as they were getting into the car, but Anna pushed her hand off and they drove away, leaving her on the ground weeping so bitter. Grace wemt and helped her mother up. They remained at the gate weeping terribly.

People where passing by shaking their heads, pitting them. Some are gossiping about it, others are genuinely feeling sorry for their predicament. One woman saw it good to inform Mrs Kumwenda, now that it was getting dirk for them to remain there in the cold.

Knocking on the door," Hello, Mrs Kumwenda." She called but no one answered.

"Reuben are you there." Knock again when Reuben and his mother came from her right with boxes of vegetables and fruits. They had left to the market from where they have a small stand.

The woman spotted them first, " Here you are." I came looking for you."

"Is there any problem?" Put the box down, out of her head curiously.

"The Sosala's have been locked out from their house. Right now as I speak they are outside the gate, with their bags. Go and help them." The woman sorrowfully shook her head and left.

Without wasting time, Reuben pushed the boxes inside, without minding to close the door they rushed out to their see help the Sosalas. upon exiting the house, Mrs Kumwenda saw Grace and her mother entering the compound with their heavy bags. Reuben run after Grace and embrace her. From his arms she broke into tears.

Mrs Kumwenda hurried and take over the bags from Mrs Sosala. Holding her by the side, they walked into the house.

The King received the report about the overthrow of the Sosalas from their own house and he felt at peace. "Are you happy now, my dear? asked his spoiled princess.

" Very much dad." Embrace him joyfully.

"The house now belongs to you and your husband. Turn it in whatever you want it to be. The choice is yours." Smiles.

"Wow dad, thank you." Tightly hug him.

The queen sitting beside smiling.

It is night, Grace lied beside her mother, sobbing, yearning to die. Terrified by constant emotional pain and long for someone to save her from her fears of life, rejection, abandonment and the loneliness. She got up from bed crying in silent, avoiding to awake her mother. She could not cry in silent anymore, Grace runs outside in the dirk to cry out freely.

Under the Stars and the bright moon, she fell on her feet and groan, " O God, if you are real, I'm begging you to please answer me!" She said. " I can't take this pain anymore. This pain is too big for me to handle, I am on my knees, begging you to please fix me." She weep more and more.

At that moment, she felt a touch on her shoulder, it was gentle and comforting. "Grace, he never left you." knelt with her. "God has been right beside you all along. Come on, let's go back inside." Helped her up, holding her by the side, giving her balance as they walked in.

Five months had passed, Grace's pregnancy is now five months old and big enough for everyone to see. Each day that she looks in the mirror, she fears what will become of her child who is fatherless. How she will live to explain to her about the father, really gives her goose bumps .
