Chapter 242 - The Coup For Port-O-Bea: Part Two

Approaching rapid-firing shots, Leon and Heskins continued toward the gunfight, not worried about their lives. It seemed as if the gang was really gaining control of several blocks of land, although it seemed as if they were facing steeper resistance than planned. That wasn't necessarily a good sign, which they would hopefully take care of now. At least the good news was they were on point with the timing, as the group could see the bloodshed ahead.

Several dead bodies were scattered across the incoming street intersection, as both sides were hiding behind cover, firing their weapons or powers whenever they could. The longer they stood like this, the worse the situation was going to get for them and the gang. This was going as well as they could expect.

"You all finally came to help us, eh?" Bercoff turned to face them briefly with a burning cylinder-like taboon on the ground, before having a face of disappointment. "Where's the rest of y'all?"

"Spread out across the city. We are here because it seems like you're in some trouble right now, coincidentally. Ain't that a shock?" Leon crouched towards them, as shots ricocheted around them.

"Got a rifle?" Heskins asked beside them, to which one of the gang members handed him one similar to the Defense Core.

Not waiting any longer, Bercoff lay on the ground, as one of his members clipped a long clip of bullets to his taboon. Once finished, the man took aim again, and let off a long firing against the incoming forces attempting to rush them. With little room to scatter, most of them got sprayed down, with a few able to return fire or out of harm's way.

"That'll teach em'!" Bercoff whopped with joy, as Leon and Heskins watched with interest, hoping that it would be enough for them to concentrate.

"Time to get serious." Leon started expanding his aura, as Heskins started to take aim with his rifle. "Let's do this!"

....

Sera moved silently and quickly through the dim alleys. The gunshots echoed throughout the air, and screaming and shouting could be heard all around her. If she wasn't so focused on the mission, she probably would be more confused than scared like the rest. Even though that wasn't her problem at the moment, yet.

As she made her way onto an open street, she could see a large crowd barging their way towards the city's government building, with the military forces holding their ground on its steps. It was going to get really violent in mere moments and she didn't want to be in the vicinity.

"Hey, you!" Sera heard just as she was closing in towards the safe house.

Turning around, she could see three men, armed with taboons and clubs attempting to surround her.

"What do you want?" the woman held her hand onto her blade, just waiting for them to test her.

"It's not safe out here. Perhaps, you need some protection?" one of the men got really close to her, gripping her shoulder tightly.

"No thanks." Sera shook the man off, noticing she was going to get pinned against a wall.

"I think you should listen to us. We'll make you nice and comfy." another one of them said. "Really comfy."

Not even listening to them anymore, Sera zipped around in a blur with the men looking at each other in shock. Sera watched as they started looking at each other, shocked, just as blood shot out through their sides. Not turning back to see them die and cry, Sera moved past them and reached the modern-looking bar. This sure better be worth it, she sighed, as she opened the door.

...

It was all still and quiet still, as Jamal stared into the darkness. The only thing he could feel was an annoying throbbing against his side. He figured out that he was still alive, hopefully. The main issue currently was not knowing exactly what was going on in the situation. Did the others think he was dead? Was Ula even alive?

"Jamal." A muffled voice rang out, sounding far off.

Who was that, he attempted to move through the emptiness. But it was no use, as he felt nothing within his reach.

"Jamal, you need to wake up now! You're still alive!" A more recognizable male voice cleared the silence.

At that instance, Jamal abruptly opened his eyes to see quite the spectacle. Less civilians were still in the square, as the few remaining were stacked with weaponry and gear. Not even needing to turn his head, he could see a grinning man. Hops.

"Hey, how long has it been?" Jamal tried to steady himself up, with Heskins assisting.

"Almost an hour now. We're getting news that forty percent of the city is coming back under civilian control. However, the military is reinforcing as time goes on, so we have little time to wait. How do you feel?" Hops looked at Jamal's bloodied side, which stopped bleeding surprisingly.

Without saying a word, Jamal managed to push off Hops and balanced himself onto the wood. The shots appeared to have completely grazed his side, or his flames managed to do some work against the lead. Regardless, he could easily manage against the pain, as a deep breath was taken. As almost instinctively, flames shot around the man, with Hops watching in awe.

"It seems as if we got a city to still capture. Continue onward with the objectives. This won't happen again from me now." the ignited man nodded towards his counterpart.

"Yes sir." Hops was almost able to respond back, just as Jamal phased away, leaving streaks of fire in the air. They couldn't hold up any longer, or it would all be a waste of time.
