Chapter 243 - The Coup For Port-O-Bea: Part Three

It was well into the night, as the blazes brightened the night environment. Despite the onslaught of the newly formed rebels, they had only managed to occupy sixty percent of the entire city. The city's military themselves wouldn't give up without a fight, and the steep resistance against their new enemies showed.

With only their homes to provide protection, those with high enough views could watch as their former protectors fired artillery shells into the newly reached spaces. The damaged buildings brought nothing but dust and scattered debris into the stricken air, with the sounds of war filling the air.

Jamal himself was used to quite the environment, as he stepped past a destroyed barricade. Hastily as it was made, he couldn't help but notice the two fallen soldiers on the ground, dying for nothing. Died for a false man who couldn't even care enough to keep them in check. This reality was an act of shame, as Jamal reached for a loose piece of paper gripped in one of their hands.

Without even looking, he quickly stretched his hand towards what was once one of the city's local banks and launched a large fire blast in it's direction. Ignoring the loud explosion and roars of pain, Jamal continued reading the paper, getting more anxious with each word. What he was just learning about was going to be quite the ordeal. An ordeal that would change the course of the planet and anyone against Youden. The true power for those without powers could yield was just now being figured out and at this point would it all be too late.

.....

"We're facing a lot more than I thought we would see!" Sera hissed in rage, just as gunshots rang around her.

"Like we don't notice already! Jamal was supposed to clean this all out!" Hops manage to roar over the shootout, as an artillery shell bursts through the building next to them. "Don't we have our own to fight back?"

"Your girl would sure be useful right now. Speaking of which, she isn't even a psychic, but more telekinetic? Even she doesn't know what she's talking about!"

"Guys! We have one mission right now! To either gain control of this northwesternmost fortification or hunker and hold down long enough until Jamal or reinforcement comes. There's literally no other option. This chokepoint here is the only thing keeping them from pushing us back." Leon yelled through the argument, causing them to both shut up.

Focusing back ahead on the action, they could only watch as a heavy tarr roll right in front of the fortification. Despite the bullets crashing into its armor and barely leaving a dent, the machine's turret turned with a loud groan, causing more worry within the group.

"Come on now! Pull back!" Bercoff cried out, as some of his men scattered behind.

Not looking good here, Leon could figure as he managed to pulse out his aura just as the tarr fired. Just barely missing his side, the shell rammed into the already broken building next to them, raising more dust and debris around the area. Hearing loud creaks and crashing from within didn't make matters better, with most of the already disorganized resistance scattered away.

"We gotta move out now! Come on!" Leon grabbed both Hops and Sera before any objections could be made.

Leaping through the street, Leon didn't even look back at the collapsing building, which smashed onto their former positions and blocked access for either side. It may have been a minor setback for them, but a major victory for the military, at least in terms of containment, and for now.

.....

"Sir, have you heard the news?" a soldier stood behind his commander of the division, holed up inside the local military headquarters.

"Ah, I have indeed. The days of Youdenia are coming for the world. For far too long have we been denied access and what was rightfully ours. The Great War Of Worlds is only getting started." Zim grinned with fury, weapon fire echoing in the background. "Now, get back to your position!"

That soldier could only gulp with fear, as he quickly shuffled towards the rear of the building. As he moved, he could only quickly read what happened from the radio transmission he printed out. That the most powerful weapon rumor was true. That the nation of Nikao was no more.
