Jamal yawned as the elevator finally chimed, and the door opened. The walls within were made of stone, and electrical lamps instead of the usual lighting within the region. A bit strange, but understandable, as Jamal made his way through the large clearing. He could hear moaning and agony from within, as he made his way towards the sound. It only took him a few more moments, until he realized where he was. This wasn't another part of the building that he expected, it was a whole dungeon.
Reaching the voice, he looked to see a old man clawing towards him, begging him for food.
"I haven't eaten in a week, please feed me!" the voice cried out, with Jamal continuing onward.
There wasn't even much hallway left, as he reached the end, looking at the last cell. There was a young woman in there, staring at the ground. But she looked really familiar to him, like he had seen her before.
"Do I know you?" Jamal asked, causing the person to look up.
"It's you! Jamal! Oh my powers, we are saved!" the woman cried out in joy.
"Beai? What are you doing here?" Jamal was a bit shocked, stepping back.
"The resistance must live! It mustn't die!" she began to ramble, "We lost everything, but you came to save us. We can reclaim Saputa!"
"Okay, but no? You saw Ula, my-, well, er?" Jamal didn't even know their relationship status as of know.
"Your woman. She's vile, I must say. I expected better." she cackled in joy, "She left several minutes ago."
"Wait, so she must have went to the top floor. Great!" Jamal laughed in a waste of time, "Let's get you out of here anyway."
Beai stood back, as Jamal let the fire flow around his leg, before smashing it against the cell. The door narrowly missed the woman, shrieking in shock.
"My bad." Jamal shrugged, as Beai left the cell. "She went to the highest floor."
Without responding, Beai moved ahead with Jamal in pursuit. They both rushed past the old man's cell, although Jamal quickly sliced at the lock, with it breaking in half.
"Your welcome!" Jamal cried back, as they turned the corner to the elevators. Jamal could see the floor button lighting up, as the numbers were approaching the bottom floor. Looks like a fight was about to go down.
"You did not just bring soldiers down here." Beai sighed in shame. "How are we going to get out of here now?"
"Are there stairs?" Jamal began to step back, "Wait here."
"What!" Beai cried out in worry, as Jamal accelerated himself back into the clearing.
Going the other way, he past more cells with more people, although most of them asleep or quiet. Nearing the end, he couldn't see any stairwell out of here as he finally reached the last cell. But the sight shocked him. Inside, there was a skeleton laying across the ground, still with clothes on, but holes across the body and one through the head. He didn't want to know what happened to that person, as he quickly turned back around to hear a ding.
Speeding back, he managed to slide across the stone floor, to see the elevator door opening with soldiers inside the machine.
"Get down Beai!" Jamal cried out, as he rapidly fired balls of flames towards the doors.
Beai was ecstatic with his arrival, not hesitating, as the men were barraged with pain, causing screams of agony. Some of them still in control fired at will, Jamal crouched behind a wall to avoid getting hit, as the shots broke pieces of stone of the wall behind him. How was she going to survive this, Jamal gulped, as he returned fire, literally.
He could hear scrambling, as Beai managed to slide back with him, holding something in her hands as more shots came at her original position.
"You left me to die!" she cried out, cocking back the object she was holding.
"I did not." Jamal said, after firing back more fireballs. "What's that in your hand?"
"It's a pistol. I got it off the floor when one of them soldiers dropped it. I've always wanted to keep one of these." Beai grinned, firing alongside with Jamal.
"You seem to know how to use that." Jamal pulled back, before taking a deep breath.
"Of course, I've used one before." she laughed, as she dropped two soldiers closing in on them. "It looks like we got about five more."
But Jamal didn't respond, as flames quickly swirled around him, before he was engulfed in flames completely. It was time to end this.
"That'll be quick then. Get ready to move." Beai heard Jamal say, as he zoomed past her in a blur.
The soldiers had no time to prepare, as Jamal quickly grabbed one of them and slammed him onto the floor, creating a deep crack in the ground, before tossing him back. The rest of the soldiers continued to fire back, but even in the narrow conditions, Jamal easily dodged the bullets. In front of two of them, Jamal grabbed both their heads, before slamming them together, crushing both their heads with ease. The last two began to pull back into the elevator, as one of them began to spam the button leading back to the base floor.
Jamal just laughed as he grabbed the closing doors before pulling them apart to their original position. The guards just dropped their weapons and put their hands up.
"Beai, come here!" Jamal yelled back, as the woman quickly began to make her way towards him. "Do as you will."
Jamal didn't even look back, as two shots rang out, and both bodies slumped to the floor. Even when he went savage for his standards, at least he provided mercy at times.
"It's what they deserve for not fighting for the greater good." Beai said before Jamal could say anything, entering inside.
Jamal watched as the door closed, with Beai picking one of the rifles inside. The death that occurred really meant nothing to either to them, as he pressed the button to the highest floor. They stood in silence, as Beai was examining the taboon with delight, checking the magazines left before reloading it.
"You know, I always wondered what happened after I left?" Jamal broke it up between them, his fire temporarily died down until they were back into action.
"I ended up here. I think that speaks for itself." Beai laughed, "But at least I knew I was in the wrong. How's Lero? Haven't heard from him in months."
"Last I saw, he was doing fine." Jamal recalled, as the elevator signaling their arrival. "Let's finish this."
Nodding, Beai held the weapon up, as Jamal slowly began to re-engulf himself as the door opened up. It lead to a much cleaner section of the building, as there was no noticeable activity occurring, except for the ringing alarm. Moving onward, Jamal could make out open rooms with plush seating and expensive tables. One room even was brimmed with steel cabinets, no doubt expensive information within that the nation probably saw valuable.
"There's no way she isn't up here." Beai lowered the weapon, "Something is up."
"Don't let your guard down yet." Jamal huffed. "We got a ways to go."
Continuing through the hallway, they passed more rooms with clean interiors, as they approached the end with two different paths. Looking both ways, one could see nothing but more rooms within. He was not going to get lost just to find one person.
"Ula! Stop hiding!" Jamal shouted out, to nothing replying back.
"You got to be serious. We got to be in a worse position than before." Beai began walking to the right in the intersection.
Jamal just shrugged it off, as he stood in place observing the surroundings. Why wouldn't she be here? That couldn't be possible in the amount of time that occurred, could it?
"Who's here? This is a restricted zone unless granted by Youden himself." a female voice cried out, in the opposite direction of Jamal and Beai.
"What was that?" Beai turned around to face Jamal, aiming the rifle down the section. "That's got to be her."
"It sounds like her, but it's different. What did they do to her?" Jamal clenched his fists, as flames began to swirl around him again.
"If your up here, you-" a woman finally appeared from the other end, before staring them down. "You two need to-! Wait, this must be a dream. Jamal Wrint, the most feared man in my presence."
Jamal was shaken, unable to move. There approaching him, was his former lover. The person he had been with and cared for several years, Ula Mere, was finally approaching him after all this time. Even after everything, deep down, he still missed her.
"Ul-Ula. I, I don't know where to begin." Jamal had his guard down, as his flames died down with a sense of peace. "I missed you."
"Um, Jamal? I don't think she recognizes you." Beai continued to have the weapon held high, not wavering.
"I do know him. I know that he has to die!" Ula began to rush him, surprising Jamal.
"Wait, no!" Jamal had his hands out, as Ula brushed him aside and punched his gut.
It caused him to stifle back, in a bit of astonishment, as he didn't think Ula still had this much pent-up power in her after all these years. He regained posture, as Ula formed darkness around both her fists and began to attempt to pummel Jamal with each burst. He stood in place, dodging with ease, although he couldn't force himself to counter.
"Don't fire!" Jamal was able to see Beai about to pull the trigger. "Let me do this."
"Jamal, you must die!" Ula cried out, as she managed to twist her entire body and land a kick across his chin.
Jamal fell back onto the ground, as Ula quickly formed a hammer of pure darkness. Hesitating, Jamal quickly returned to his senses, as he rolled to his left with the hammer breaking through the floor, creating a hole full of wires and pieces of plaster and plastic in place.
"Ula, please, remember me. Remember your family!" Jamal attempted to break to her.
"I only remember the suffering you've brought!" her eyes began to fill with rage, as she roared through the building, the hammer radiating its lack of light across the space.
Jamal returned to form, as he stared her down. This was going to be hard for a multitude of reasons, and his own emotions were clashing within. If he didn't get her back, then he would have to die trying to free her from whatever Youden did to her. Just as how he freed the rest of the Viligantes Of Power, Jamal knew that he could do it one last time.
"Bring it." Jamal teased at her, causing Ula to begin her attack on him again, full of vigor and fury to kill.
