The Vigilantes of Power stood on the bottom of the steps to the Youdenia State Building. Jamal had never been here himself, but it didn't mean the rest of them hadn't. Of course, once he had left the rest of them had gotten captured and drugged against their will. All to work for the man named Youden, feared across continents for his insane power and brutality against anyone in his way. Until he faced Jamal, which he did underestimate.
"Jamal, put your hood over your head. You just can't be in the open." Alice reminded him.
Nodding, Jamal covered his head, as he took a deep breath, before they lead him up the stairs. Each step was closer to what he had lost, and he regretted it. Pushing everything away and causing all of this; it was all his fault, yet he was going to fix it now. Everything was going to be okay, he promised himself.
Finally though, they had reached the last stair, leading towards the door inside. Entering the premise, they found it being quite packed inside, as news was spreading of Youden's return to the nation.
"He's bringing peace among the world!" someone had shouted.
"He'll be back in a few hours, and we can celebrate! Someone get some champagne!" someone else laughed aloud, with lots of cheers in agreement.
The group stayed together, as they continued onward through the crowd, before seeing a large set of stairs higher in the building.
"Where are they?" Jamal asked, once they were away from most of the people.
"Ula might be here, and I have no idea about Laken." Fonda replied back.
"So, we didn't even make sure? Alice, can't you pinpoint their exact location?"
"It'll be a second then, hold on." Alice pulled out her book, before finding the exact page.
Jamal just watched the book light up, as he stared at the crowd, in complete joy. They were losing their minds over peace? It must have been major for that to happen.
"Well, I found both of them actually." Alice laughed aloud, once she exited the state, "Ula's underground in this building, but Laken is at the Palace. Shouldn't take too long."
"Split up then." Jamal figured out, "We can save time, and just meet up somewhere."
"Come to the palace. It's settled." Leon finally spoke, before beginning his decline on the stairs.
"I'll join you." Brat assured Jamal, as he waved the rest away. "Ula gotten me through so much, I just want to return the favor."
Nodding, Jamal waved the rest of them a farewell, knowing he would see them again. Continuing onward, the two men finally reached the top, to which two guards blocked the entrance past the door.
"No entry past this point." the guard spoke, before looking at one of the boys. "Wait, aren't you apart of the Eluyim Hexan, that Youden formed."
"Yes, yes I am." Brat quickly spoke up, "We are here to see Ula."
"We can only let you go through, as we can't bring any guests through this point." the other guard announced to Jamal, gripping his rifle tightly. "Unless you identify yourself, we'll have to do a background check. You have your ID card on you?"
"I'm Jake Bracker." Jamal made up on the fly, "Let me find my card. I thought I had it on me."
The guards watched as Jamal fumbled in his pockets looking for anything that resembled a card.
"Found it!" Jamal grinned, as he pulled out nothing.
"Um, sir?" the guard was confused, until Jamal kneed him in the chin.
The other guard, a bit surprised, turned his rifle around, until Brat grasped it and forced it the other way. They both struggled against each other, while Jamal put his arm around the neck of the other guard. He didn't budge, even as the guard began to tap out and trying to escape his grasp.
"I hate that it had to come to this." Jamal whispered in the man's ear, as the attempts got weaker, before the man went limp.
Meanwhile, Brat managed to throw the rifle to the side, as his right arm turned into one of a gorilla, and slammed the last guard into the wall. It made a loud crack, as the man slumped on the floor. Not hesitating, they quickly ran through the door that was just blocked prior. Ahead, was a thin metal hallway with several more guards up ahead. There was no doubt that extremely valuable equipment and information was here.
Jamal slowed down, before pulling both hands forward. A fireball quickly formed, before he blasted it across the room. Any guard in the way was severely burned, as many of them crouched down or slid to the side. Brat rushed past Jamal once he ended the attack, as he formed into a rhino, barely fitting within the hallway. The few guards that weren't hurt, quickly fumbled for their weapons, before they were ran over.
Luckily for them, one of the guards managed to get to the emergency room, where there was an alarm that one could ring. Untouched until now, the guard broke the glass, before slamming the button. The sirens rang aloud, as they began turning red in alert. The people back near the entrance of the building were confused by the sight, until multiple guards pushed people out of the way, telling everyone to get out immediately.
Jamal grinned at the sight. They finally knew they were here, as he leaped over Brat, using his fire as propellant.
"Brat, watch the entrance. No doubt more will be coming. I'm going to get Ula." Jamal cried ahead, to which Brat exited his form and turned around, before reforming as a wolf-human hybrid.
Jamal didn't hold back anymore, as he went into his sparking state, bits of flames surrounding him, but not completely on fire. Pushing through another door, he saw the hallway separated in two different directions, with one leading to an elevator and the other towards another door. Making up his mind, he rushed towards the elevator, seeing that it was still going up to the highest floor. The building only had ten floors, and he assumed several of them were underground.
Waiting patiently as he tapped the button to signal his presence, he kept looking behind him constantly. Thinking about it now, he had no idea what he was planning to say to her once he saw her after all this time. Could it have been too late to save her, being in the drugged state for that long, he hoped not, as the elevator chimed from coming back down.
He was greeted with the sight of three guards holding pistols, before aiming them at him. Jamal launched fireballs at them before they could even fire, before pushing them out of the machinery in their confused state. Once inside, he slammed the button towards the lowest floor, as more guards began coming out of the door he just left from, and began firing towards him.
Jamal hid against the side of the elevator, with the bullets ricocheting and piercing through the metal sides, as the elevator door finally began to close. One of the guards attempted to squeeze his arm through the door, before Jamal mercifully relieved him from his duty by crushing his hand. A cry could be heard, before Jamal kicked the hand away, and the door finally closed.
Wiping away the blood off his shoe, he eyed the button he had clicked. B6, which was the lowest floor provided within the building, and underground. Unless there was a staircase he could have taken, he would likely be stuck there with the amount of soldiers coming through, and he didn't even know if Brat had made it. They were all taking a risk, and doing so could kill any one of them.
