Beai held her breath tightly, concentrating at the army laying siege ahead. Gripping the rifle tightly, as she barely peeked around the wall, she could barely hear the two sides clashing, slaughtering each other for several feet of land. For the last months since Jamal had left, the attacks in the region were getting more intense, before an all-out conflict erupted only a few weeks prior. All but one town they had Jamal's assistance to capture were reoccupied, except the one they were in at the moment.
Just the thought swayed the rifle barrel, as Beai quickly collected herself and concentrated at the battlefield ahead. She could barely see the head of one of the commanders that Youden had brought down here, but she just needed the man to move a little higher. She sure got her wish though, as the man cried out an order, lifting his head with determination, and providing the woman the opportunity. Without hesitation, she fired the shot, to which the man collapsed behind their lines, and a bullet in his head.
Pulling back, as multiple shots pressed to where she was, Beai got to work cleaning the weapon before reloading the bolt-action weapon quickly. They didn't have the latest equipment unsurprisingly, and most of the forces still had to resort to using their own powers to stay alive and hold off the assault. She knew that it wouldn't go well for them after he left, but turns out having operations dependent on one person was an extreme flaw in the resistance plans, and costly as well. They already lost ten percent of their entire army once Jamal left, either dead or captured.
As more Ariocasters flew above wreaking havoc, Beai turned around to see some of her soldiers hastily rotating a cannon that was off a tarr and placed on a former carr chassis. Didn't some of her advisors tell her that they were making a few of these creations, she thought about, before breaking focus from the loud bang that came from the machine. Staying attentive, she finally peeked again at the wall, only to be greeted with a disturbing sight.
While not looking, it appeared that half of the town was completely covered in darkness, resembling an impenetrable fog. From the outside, she could hear screaming within, as streaks of the darkness sliced across the land. It wasn't so intimidating until Beai watched as the sections cleanly cut through the area, and any of her soldiers in the vicinity of the streaks to get killed with it.
Crouched down, she turned as the home they were camped behind got sliced in half, as well as the makeshift tarr, to which the soldiers were displeased with. Sighing with relief, she got up until realizing that the remains of the home began to slowly slide towards her. In a heartbeat, she rushed across the dirt road, as her soldiers attempted to move beside her, only to get crushed right behind her. Beai didn't look back, as she landed behind another building, this time what appeared to be a small storage building.
Breathing heavily, she could see the darkness fade away, and the bodies of her army being strewn across the battlefield ahead of her. Standing in the middle of the mess, was a woman seeping darkness from her body, before looking her way. Hiding behind the building, she watched as some of her surviving soldiers lay onto the ground, before firing from their taboons onto the woman. She didn't see what happened, except for streams of darkness to move towards them, and entering their bodies.
Beai could only watch, as they began to convulse and shrivel up, before they exploded from the inside, spewing blood and entrails in the area.
"Holy powers." Beai managed to say, before throwing up to the side.
Steading herself up, as she supported herself against the window, Beai could just see as some of her soldiers began to raise their hands up in surrender from the sight, while several more continued going. Beai was losing ground each second, and at this point, she knew that they would, at best, hold for another hour or two before a complete collapse. Their efforts failed, and all the time they spent was wasted.
"Wait, you must be the leader." Beai looked back, to see the woman that created the darkness, as some of it swirled around her hands. "I read you from the file. What a pathetic effort."
"Is that so? Cause even to the end, I will support the true government that is Saputa!" Beai shouted back.
"Unlikely, but I have no reason to kill you. At least yet, I'll let Youden deal with that." Ula grinned at her, before punching her in the jaw, knocking her out cold, before staring at what was left of the pocket of troops. "And now to deal with the rest of them."
