Where was he! Jamal was fuming, as the sun was beginning to set from the sky. For the last several hours, he was searching for Lero around town, to be found nowhere. He could have sworn he was still around in the area, as last he heard his Ariocaster was actually his home. There's no way he could have moved it.
As he got off a side street, and back onto a more used road, he realized that it was about twenty minutes away from home. Great, he sighed, as he began making his way there. There was no point in searching anymore, as he began to jog back towards home.
It was only several more minutes, that as he could begin to see the outskirts of Termia, he noticed a longish shadow between the thin, but thickly-packed grasses just to the side of the road. You got to be kidding me, he almost shouted in frustration, as he slowed down to get a better look.
He could see a piece of metal sticking out, and as he edged closer he could hear a liquid coming near it. A bit strange, but I suppose Lero planned this out well, he assumed, as he moved closer. Shuffling through, the space had temporarily cleared only to see Lero zipping himself up after just finish taking a leak. Talk about timing, Jamal wished he was taking his time just then.
"Oh, it's bloody you!" Lero almost jumped in shock from seeing him. "What did you want?"
"Um, I know it's been a while, but I was going to ask if you could get us a ride back to Saputa?" Jamal announced, to which laughter came out from Lero.
"What a joker. Mate, why should I even help you, when you wouldn't even let me get a good place to sleep when I needed it. Do you know how bad it is to live in this hunk of garbage? Or that I still haven't gotten any parts for this?" Lero began to get serious once he calmed himself down.
Jamal did just actually get a look of the flying machine. It looked like one of it's wings actually snapped off, and that it was in some type of depression, making it even harder to move. Most of the windows were either blown out or cracked, and it was beginning to rust. Not a good look at all.
"How about we make a deal?" Jamal tried to negotiate. "Let's say I can get someone with parts and fix your thing, and in exchange, on your way back to the Resistance, you can drop us off to what we need to do?"
"I bloody forgot about 'em. Mate, I don't know if I should trust you or your "people", especially the desert ape if he still around. But if you can guarantee me that you can get me some parts, any condition at this bloody point, then I'll consider taking you back to Wansher."
Jamal just assumed he meant back to the resistance, so he just nodded in agreement.
"Great. Now get out of here, and get what I need before we'll talk again." Lero grinned in excitement for possibly leaving this place, as he shoved open the door of the craft, before it quickly closed behind him once he entered, spitting out dirt.
Sheesh, Jamal realized how bad his living conditions were as he backed out of the space, and onto the main road again, just as someone passed by with their mule and cart. Hopefully, it'll be better to work within Saputa, Jamal hoped for as he continued his jog back towards home.
.....
Changed into cleaner clothes, he opened the bathroom door, before closing it softly, making as little noise as possible. Carefully, he crept towards his and Ula's bedroom, as he tried to quietly open the door. It made a small creak, and he could hear shuffling inside before it became silent again. Just let me get some sleep, please.
Opening it wider, he noticed a crib-shaped object in the corner, although he never recalled something like that here last time he was here. I didn't know Ula was buying stuff, he figured, as he slid inside, before carefully closing it behind him.
"Jamal, where have you been?" he could her ask him softly from the bed.
"Well, turns out Lero been living pretty badly himself. I've been getting really lucky finding all these people, you wouldn't believe it." he commented on what he's been seeing as he got into the bed next to her. "Now, how's training going?"
"Mmm, I was going to tell you something about Laken's power. They're, they're different."
"What do you mean? I thought it was just like yours."
"I mean, it is, but it also isn't. He did something that even I hadn't bothered trying. He didn't try any of the basic uses of his powers yet, and I'm just worried he's going to get hurt."
"Don't worry about it, it'll be fine. Plus I'm going to see what I can do about it, so no need to worry anymore." he grinned even though she probably could barely see him, before kissing her cheek. "But it's been a long day, so I'm getting some much-needed sleep."
"Good night then," Ula said quietly.
"Good night. You can tell me about what you bought while I was gone over there in the morning." he yawned back.
Before Ula could respond to the statement, Jamal was already asleep, especially after the eventful day he had been through the entire time. She'll explain it all to him, and then he'll try what she tried to do.
