"Ah, mate, don't tell me after bloody that you're done?" Jamal could barely hear, as he slowly moved his head towards the direction.
Out of all places, Lero was walking towards him, grinning, despite his clothes being dirtied and was pretty scratched up. Jamal tried to move towards him, before he cried out in pain, stopping him in his tracks.
"H-, he-, help me." Jamal weakly muttered, as dull sparks of fire popped on and off with him, and heavy smoke lifting off his back.
"You're bloody smoking mate. Let me help a bit." Lero grinned, as he kicked some snow on his back.
The instant cold killed off the smoke but caused Jamal to scream louder in pain.
"Dang, you really need some help. Looking like a shot down ganja." Lero commented as he picked Jamal off the ground "That fight, was bloody incredible I must say."
Jamal didn't say a word, as Lero walked around aimlessly, past broken down machinery and strewn bodies. He tried to point somewhere, but it just caused more pain to spread around his body. At least Lero was moving towards the cabin, Jamal noted.
"Mmm, by the looks of it you pushed yourself too hard mate. Such a shame that you had so much power, only for that to happen. But someone is approaching us, probably here to bloody finish you. I got you." Lero heaved him to the side, as someone came out of Jamal's cabin.
"Wait, Heskins." Jamal noted, but the man was already going towards him.
"Dang, Jamal you goo-" Heskin was about to say, before he got punched to the side.
"Don't think I can let you do nothing against him, bugger. I'll kill you quicker than ol' Yana back in Anertila." Lero muttered towards him, preparing to crush him.
Before either could attack the other, darkness surrounded them both. Jamal could only watch as Ula came through it, leaving it up behind her.
"Jamal, are you okay?" Ula moved closer to him.
"Yeah." Jamal tried getting up, before pain shot up everywhere, forcing him back down. "I'm fine, don't worry."
"Hey, who the bloody curses is this now?" Lero came out the darkness, to see Ula next to Jamal.
"Lero, it's Ula. My-" Jamal tried to speak, before convulsions started to kick in.
"I'm his fiancee, but we don't have time for this. He needs help and now!" Ula cried out towards Lero, who backed up a bit.
"Alright miss, if you say so. I just need some parts anyway, so I'll be looking around." Lero deflated, before walking away.
"Wait, your not going to help? Coward." Heskins muttered as Lero passed him.
Lero stopped in his tracks, before looking back at Heskins. Jamal could tell the situation was intense but he couldn't do much in his form, as he gritted his teeth in pain. Why were they arguing when they could be helping him?
"Listen, desert ape. I'm trying to get back to Saputa, so I can get paid." Lero spat at Heskins in disgust, "I don't want to be stuck is some crappy wasteland with more filthy creatures like you. Your kind killed off my family, and if it wasn't for Jamal over there, I would have bloody killed you by now!"
No one noticed, Laken getting out the house, as he shivered in the cold air. He could see Jamal on the ground as he began making his way towards him.
"Pa!" he cried out, as Lero looked at the boy.
"While your reunion is going on, I'll be on my way." Lero said, before walking back to the ruins of the town.
"Laken! You know it isn't safe in the cold!" Ula rushed up to him, scooping him back up, before carrying him towards the house.
Jamal could only watch as Laken stared at him, before going back inside the ruined home. No, I can't show him that I'm this weak, he believed, as he placed his feet onto the ground. He gritted his teeth, as he struggled to push himself up, despite the smoke beginning to get thicker on his back.
"Jamal! Stop it!" Ula exclaimed when she came back outside.
It was too late, as Jamal was already up, as the smoke slowly dissipated. The pain temporarily subdued, until he took a step, where it returned instantly.
"I'm fine, Ula. Trust me." Jamal forced out, as he took another step before collapsing into her arms. "I've been through worse."
"I think I know the problem. He's going through a power crash." Heskins said as he dusted the snow on him off as soon as he got back up.
"A what?" Ula questioned, as Jamal was beginning to doze off.
"A power crash. He's told me about the fights he's gotten into in the past, and how he's been pushing him to higher limits or something like that. Power crashes have something to do with one inability to adapt to an increase of their power they've never used or at least in a long time. I think he's in that state. At least the good news is that it only takes a few days to sleep off. Unless you go through it multiple times, then it's probably something much dire."
Ula just sighed, as Heskins came to help lift Jamal off Ula. They both walked him inside the cabin, which was still in ruin, as Heskins cleaned off the snow on the couch inside before placing Jamal down on it.
"Everything is fine," Jamal laughed off, as they both watched him carefully as he was beginning to doze off, "Everything is good."
