Chapter 127 - A Final Stand Against Jamal

Kurt watched on top of a small hill, watching the battle ahead. This town, whatever it was, was mostly destroyed as he could see the tarrs entering the outskirts. They'll take it with ease within an hour or so, he knew, as he grinned at the site. Nothing could go wrong.

At that moment, a loud explosion appeared in the frontlines with some of the tarrs, as the wind whipped around him. He got up quickly, confused. Did a tarr malfunction? Another explosion a few yards away from the first appeared as some of the troops began to scatter. Something was off, he knew, as he began to move towards the action.

He stayed focused, as more explosions erupted around the tarrs, as some of the troops were caught in the blast. Something was attacking them, but what? Behind him, he heard a small whoosh of air, and he looked behind to see a man engulfed in fire. No, it couldn't be, Kurt's eyes widened before he was punched straight through a ruined bakery.

He slowly got up, as his back was aching before the man appeared again and kicked him off his feet. Kurt slid back, as the man fired multiple fireballs towards him. I have no choice, he knew, as his body began to faintly glow gold, as the balls of fire stopped in front of him before directed back towards the man. Jamal, you clever man.

Jamal simply moved out the way, as he stared down the man. Something was different, this wasn't from that night he met him. This must be his real power, Kurt wanted to say, as he got up with Jamal still watching.

"You know, you almost killed my family." Jamal announced to him.

"Like I should care. We were going to kill them anyway." Kurt sneered back.

That just enraged Jamal, as Kurt was getting pushed back from the attacks. If it wasn't for his power, he probably would be dead now. The attacks just deflected around Jamal, and he seemed unfazed. The punches caused Kurt to slip onto what was frozen ground but had melted from Jamal's heat. He spat out some blood, as he hissed in pain, his vision getting blurry. Why didn't Youden let us kill him, Kurt cursed himself, before Jamal kicked him into a destroyed tarr.

Jamal walked towards the man, before extending one hand out towards him. Instantly a large fireball appeared, as it quickly expanded rapidly. Kurt tried getting out the tarr, but he was mainly entangled inside the vehicle, as he risked losing an arm or so getting out quickly. Looks like this might be the end, he cursed himself, as he struggled to raise his hand towards the prepared attack. But I'll still have one shot left.

Jamal didn't hesitate as he fired the attack. It hovered between them, as it fluctuated between the two sides, before the attack crashed back into Jamal, causing him to crash back through several buildings.

Kurt used this time to get out, as he heaved a heavy piece of metal over his head, before using his free arm to untangle himself in the many wires inside. He wasn't going to question the complexity of the latest models, but it was a mess.

Meanwhile, Jamal got up, as he began walking towards Kurt as he got through the first building he crashed through. He's taken worse pain than this, and now Kurt was really going to pay. Kurt eye's widened as he pushed himself out the tarr just as he was seeing Jamal's hand condense with flames thickly surrounding his hand, like the shape of a blade.

Kurt began to edge away, before he felt a searing pain behind his back, causing him to scream in pain. Looking down, he could see a few inches of flames sticking out of his body, as he was slowly losing consciousness.

"You thought I was joking? You sick monster!" Jamal spat at him, as he took out the fire from his hand, before watching the body fall.

Kurt shook on the ground, trying to get up, before Jamal placed his feet on top of him, causing him to scream louder in pain, not only from the previous attack but because his foot too was on fire.

"You kidnapped me, had my family worried, almost killed them, and expect remorse!" Jamal yelled at him, "No, you're going to suffer every second of it, and once I'm done with you, I'll burn you alive until you're nothing but a crisp!"

Kurt tried to feel inside his jacket, before Jamal stepped on his hand, crushing it, with Kurt whimpering, already with no energy left to cry for help.

"I, I, I-" Kurt began to stutter.

"This is your end!" Jamal pushed off him, before concentrating deeply.

Kurt only had one eye open, that other shut in pain, as he could see specks of blue surround the man. He was going to die. Oh, what he would do for the other Keepers right now.

Instantly, he felt a sharp jab as he was kicked to the side of the road. Unable to move, the final thing he saw were two strangers in the position where he was, before going out.
