Heskins's eyes were widened with fear, as he watched the onslaught of what was to come. It was snowing heavily, but he could see the outlines of the tarrs and no doubt more people behind them. Days of bombing, only to end yesterday, and now this? Great, he cowered, as he turned around to the town a mile away from his position. If he let Ula or Jamal's son get captured or worse, he didn't know what would happen. He didn't even know if Jamal was even alive.
"You ready?" an old man next to him snapped him back into reality, powers being used on their side on the army below.
"Yeah," Heskins said, as the old man smiled briefly, before calling out to another person next to him to begin moving the long-shaped weapon next to him.
Supposedly, after years of weak raids from Youden, had led to a build-up of scrap, and it seems that the Suruthum government decides to show off their creations. Anti-tarr guns, as they called it, as they were supposed to combat against those vehicles. Heskin saw no use, as he believed some powers could have done a better job. But how was he going to complain?
Heskins watched as the men stopped moving the weapon, as it was finally adjusted, before placing inside a large shell, unused from years of scavaging. He just watched as they fired it down below, a cloud of snow appearing at the spot of impact, and a tarr with one of its tracks busted, slowing them down for the moment.
Heskins just watched them complete the process multiple times, and each shot landed on a target or near one. Of course, they had multiple ones, as the snow slowed them down a bit, but they were getting good, despite the little practice he heard they had.
Looking back down, he could see a man in a thick dark coat walking in front of one of the broken tarrs, before looking back at him. Why did he look familiar, Heskins wondered, as the man grinned. Then it clicked. It was him, the guy that took Jamal, and he was there, helping them do this attack against the nation.
"Hey, can you aim the weapon at that guy. He's a serious threat." he quickly demanded them to, which they didn't object.
Heskins watched, as the men fired the shell towards him, and another cloud of snow lifted into the sky. He grinned, believing that the threat was gone. But as it cleared, his expression changed.
The man was still there, as he lightly glowed a soft gold, with his clothes and hair rising lightly in the air, but what was the most noticeable fact, was that the shell was smashed as if it hit a wall, but still in one main piece. Not hesitating, the man simply deflected the attack back towards them at twice the speed.
Heskins dived to the side, as the men had just finished loading in another shot before it blew up in front of his eyes. He crawled back, as everyone else holding up the frontline didn't bother to try to help, and continued the barrage. It would only be a matter of time before they lost this at the rate this was going.
He got up, before looking over the edge. The man was looking directly at him, before going back down the mountain, coming back to who knew when, as he disappeared through the snowfall.
