Jamal peered down below from the woods, at the next town he had to take. It was next to a small pond, with water flowing down clearly from a stream. This town was more defended, with multiple more tarrs and people. He could do it himself, but he'll destroy the town and that wouldn't go well for Beai. Being here in Yodenia sucked, and he needed to get to his family, with this being his only way out.
He turned back to the fifty rebel soldiers he brought alongside with him again, who stared back at him. This was his chance to redeem himself.
"You guys will fight this time. When I say attack, go ahead." he grinned, before going out of the wood cover.
The rebels watched, as he moved closer to the town, before quickly sneaking behind one of the houses. This wouldn't be an easy task, as Jamal slowly engulfed himself in flames.
"Attack!" he cried out, scaring Youden's soldiers in the area, as powers and shots began being fired upon them.
He moved quickly to the side, as the soldiers quickly began firing into the woods, and the tarrs lining up their turrets with them, before firing. Jamal was expressed with dispair as he could hear screams from the rebels getting injured or killed even. He looked ahead, as a tarr aimed its turret at him, to which he moved out the way before the shot destroyed the building behind him.
He quickly fired multiple fireballs at it, to which it just left several burn marks on the vehicle. Jamal then ignited himself in flames, as he began to speed towards the tarrs, who were still firing into the woods. It's been a while, but let's see if I can still do it, he hoped for. Leaping above, he concentrated his flames deeply between his palms, as a large fireball illuminated the surroundings. Without hesitation, he fired the blast, as it sliced through the tarrs, creating molten metal and killing the people inside.
Grinning, he slowly floated back down, before another shot barely missed his head, to which he fired multiple fireballs in their direction before moving behind another building. This was tough, he panted as he eyed some of the rebel soldiers pushing ahead.
The fighting continued for another thirty minutes, as many troops on both sides were getting picked off or injured. Jamal was currently dealing with a brute of some size, as the man was holding a large misshaped wooden club, smashing the ground around them. Jamal was able to dodge the attacks easily, but the brute was more aggravated as it charged towards him. Jamal eyed the being as he backed up to the edge of the pond, and quickly created a blade of fire from his hand.
The brute didn't bother to slow down, as it rushed up to him even faster, with the club in his hands, preparing to strike him down. Jamal took a deep breath, as he sidestepped the creature before it could hit him, while deeply slicing the creature's side, causing a loud groan of agony, before Jamal kicked the dying beast into the pond.
He looked back, as several rebels surrounded the few troops Youden brought here that were still alive. Grinning, he walked towards them, as the flames from his body dissipated.
"That was difficult," he commented, to which the rebels looked glum. "I should ask how many we lost."
"Ten." someone replied to him.
Jamal was disappointed with that amount since they need as many people as possible for fighting, but they would hopefully have enough to replace them and not lose any important ground. It was just another tough reminder of the cost to bring Saputa back.
"Well, this is what must be done, or else Youden will keep Saputa under his control. Let's get back to Beai, before we're going to launch the final assault, as I wanted to take that other town today, but I can imagine this will be nothing compared to this." Jamal noted, as he commanded them to march, alongside with the rest of the captured soldiers, while several others looked around the ruins of the town to see what can be found and to keep guard.
