Chapter 81 - No Hope To Combat This Army

"Is there nothing we can do?" the Saputan Leader, Namo, asked the few generals left with him.

They were still traveling in the leader's carriage heading to Port-O-Bea, due to Youden's army overpowering theirs.

"Sir, I'm afraid we've lost many options. We even had several sacrifices to slow them down, but they just quickly recover and continue onward." the general next to him said.

"Did Sergeant Major Bob escape with us?" Namo asked the men.

There was silence before another general spoke up.

"He stayed behind to give us time to escape." the general began to say, causing the leader to slump further into his seat.

"How did we collapse so quickly? Tell me we called our allies into this or something! Did we try everything possible? I want answers right now!" he roared at them.

"Sir, we asked all our allies to come when we first got reports of what we thought was a major insurgency. Then some of their people already in our nation told them what they saw, and it appeared to force them to back off. As for everything, we could try another counteratt-"

"Stop saying counterattack again and again! This war didn't go in our favor because none of you listened to what I suggested we did years ago or even when we discovered where they were. Have a large search party to find Youden or when we learned where he was, send our forces to him before he got this strong! Now he has just about all the supplies to further strengthen his army while we're out here on our last resorts which clearly have failed. If no one wants to say it, then I will! We lost the war and now we'll flee like animals escaping a forest fire!" a general pointed fingers at all the other generals after the statement.

"Enough of this behavior! Since we're going to the port city, I want us to prepare an evacuation once we get there. We already have half of the Leader's Guard giving us enough time to reach there safely, hopefully. We'll become a government in exile if we must. For now, we need to worry about our people and we'll return to reclaim what we lost. I want no objections until we reach the city." Namo announced.

The generals were silent, not daring to disrespect his requests. Namo sighed, already knowing it was a lost cause when they had to flee from the city. It was a miracle they made it out alive, but he was still the leader and would be to the very end. He let thousands die under his command, and now it was time to do what's right with the amount of time he had left. Saputa was going to fall with everything happening, but he would make it a hard hill to conquer.
