Jamal watched as Brat left the room, and he entered back and closed the door. Now he could figure out what Ula wanted to take about.
"What did Brat want?" he said, walking back to a map of the city, preparing a route if things go awry.
"He said wanted us to know that he and Fonda were going to get some food, that's all," she replied cautiously.
"Okay, hope they're careful out there. But now, you wanted to talk about starting a new life?" Jamal began to open up.
"Oh, that?" she sounded surprised.
"Yeah, unless something is wrong?" he looked at her with worry.
"Um, I can explain it." she began to mumble before pausing.
"Go on," he said, putting down the pencil he was using to begin mapping their exit from the road the hotel entrance was on and getting up.
"Well, I just had a thought that with a new life, that we co-, you know what never mind, it was a stupid answer," she replied, beginning to turn around in embarrassment.
"You wanted to start something, didn't you," Jamal said looking directly at her. "If I could guess, a family?"
There was silence in the room, except for breathing. This was not the moment for a conversation like this to be happening. For crying out loud, they were in a war. And Jamal wasn't trying to do anything like that yet, at least yet. With a sigh, he sat back down and continued looking at the map. Why now.
"Yeah," she mumbled, still not looking at him.
"It wasn't a dumb question, but why ask out of all times?"
"I-, I don't know Jamal. I just felt like we were connecting, and what was happening in the hotel, and all of that, and I just really don't know," she said.
He almost forgot what happened in that building. He remembered it was getting close to something more than a regular kiss, but it meant a lot more to Ula.
"Plus Ula, don't you think you're a bit too young for that? I mean, you don't turn 18 until next week, June 2nd. You told me this."
"I'm sorry Jamal. I won't bring it up again," she sadly replied.
"Doesn't mean I don't want to though." he wasn't going to lie.
"Don't try to make me feel better. I understand."
"No, I really mean it. I wouldn't want to leave you alone anywhere in the world. I'm just avoiding problems later down the road." he grinned at her, getting back up.
"Jamal." she tried to start again, but he just hugged her.
"Trust me, it's only for the best right now. We have a war to escape first."
"So we'll do it?"
"Sooner or later, yeah. Heh, we'll have the greatest legacy the world has ever seen!"
"Is that what it's about to you?" she began to ask.
"Nope, but it's just a benefit, just like being with you." he laughed off, before kissing her not bothering to be apart.
He didn't mind, but the only thing in the way was the war. And their escape wouldn't be easy, despite everything set in place.
