Captain Dale regarded the Shimin in front of him. The unit had swollen in size since they had last been students, that was because each of the small number of Shimin had grown, and been recognized, on the battlefield. One of the benefits of serving on the front line with regular soldiers, is that he, and all the original Shimin, received field promotions.
The line between Academy and Military had become blurry during the Demi-Human war, and Dale was still getting used to having teachers and classes again. He was now a Captain, Darrin was a Lieutenant, Able and Kyle were both Second Lieutenants. It was kind of a big deal for them to have received their commissions while just starting their senior year at the Academy.
