Chapter 1 - ⇍ Chapter 1 ⇏

Grace walked into the school, looking as if she was going to murder someone. Teagan appears behind Grace and touches her shoulder. Grace was about to slap off her hand until she noticed it was Teagan.

"What's wrong, Grace?" Teagan asks in a calm voice. "My mom and I got into a fight… about her getting a new boyfriend."

Grace said and leaned on Teagan for support. "Girl, we can beat anyone who even looks at your mom in the wrong way," Momo said, suddenly appearing behind them.

"Sure, but the whole towns gonna know it was us because we're the only ones with elementals," Grace said as they were walking down the stairs to sit on their bench in the cafeteria.

"Yes, true, but then again. You should let your mom be happy…" Teagan said consoling Grace.

"I want to, but she's still married to Dad! He went missing six months ago, and the police gave up looking for him in the last two months," Grace said, clinging to hope that he was still alive.

"Let's look together after school," Teagan says. Momo then texts her parents telling them she's coming home late and not to go looking for her.

Grace and Teagan text the same thing to their guardians.

They all go to their first class, English, and the rest of the day went by slowly for the girls. When school was over, they went to the locker room.

They changed into all black clothing, except for Teagan who was already wearing black. They wore a matching mask that had a star-like shape imprinted onto the front.

The girls leave school and spread out. They search, they ask around asking if they had seen Kai Akari, they pick the entire city clean and wander around until they end up in a sketchy looking alley.

Then Grace feels a clamp on her shoulder. The man felt his hand burn and suddenly let go.

"What the hell are these kids doing here!" A man said while they surrounded the girls.

"I don't know, but they're cute. Are you girls lost? ~Come with me, I'll help you feel right at home~," Another man said, and they all started laughing.

"Who do you think you are?!" Momo said rage boiling in her veins.

"We are part of the Yakuza. We are the strongest gang out here," One of them said. "Look, we are just looking for Kai Akari," Grace fumed with a fire in her eyes, making the alleyway smolder.

"Why do you know that name?" One of them said with a serious voice.

"He is my father, you better fucking take me to him before I burn you to mother-fucking ash!" Grace said and made a fireball in her hand.

"Right away!" the men said, and the girls followed them to a familiar-looking man. "Boss! There's a girl who claims to be your daughter, and she's brought her friends," the man says. Grace, Teagan, and Momo step up.

He turned and when he saw Grace his eyes widened. "Grace?" He said. "Hey, Daddy!!!" Grace said before running into his arms and hugging him worried he'll disappear again.

"Daddy, you're coming with me. I'm not letting you off this time," Grace said in a dark tone.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I got caught up at work. You lot carry my recent order out," Grace's dad said and walked out with his daughter and her friends.

"Dad, these are my only best friends, Teagan and Momo," Grace introduced them. "Are they like you?" Kai asked. Grace nods.

"I have the shadow elemental," Teagan said before she sunk into his shadow and came back out.

"So be careful because if you cause harm to our friend, your dead," Teagan said in a deadly calm voice.

"I have the water elemental. "What Teagan said, You hurt Grace, we'll hurt you," Momo said.

"You have some overprotective friends, huh, Grace," Kai said while sweating bullets.

By the time they reached their home, Kai was drenched in his own sweat. He opened the door, seeing Misaki worried sick.

"Mom, I'm home," Grace said and walked in. "Grace, where have you been?! I've worried sick! You didn't message me or call me at all!" Misaki exclaims.

"Mom check your texts," Grace says. Misaki opens her phone and opens her text messages and sees Grace texted her saying not to go looking for her, and she'll be out late.

She scratches the back of her head in chagrin. "I also found someone," Grace said. Misaki looks confused.

"Come on in," Grace said, and a drenched Kai appears before Misaki. "Kai?" Misaki asks on the brink of tears.

"Hey, Misa," Kai says, and he's tackled but was quickly let go of. "Why are you soaked?" Misaki asked.

"Grace's friends threatened me. They're scary," Kai said. "Really? They are just protective of their friend, that's all," Misaki said. "They also have elementals! One has water, and the other has shadow," Kai says while waving his arms like a maniac.

"Yes, I already know Teagan and Momo. They're real sweethearts," Misaki says.

Kai takes a shower, and they eat the first family dinner in six months. They were laughing and having a good time. Then Grace changed into her pajamas and went to bed.

The next day, Grace woke up in a good mood because her father was back. Grace grabbed a slice of toast and left after saying goodbye to Kai and Misaki. Grace walks to school and meets up with Momo and Teagan along the way. They all walk to school.

Other students cowered in fear as normal until three unusual-looking boys show up. One had this off-whitish color with gold eyes. One had black hair with green tips with green eyes. Not only that, but one had pure white hair and baby blue eyes.

They were looking dead at the girls. "We challenge you two leadership rights of the school," The boy with the off-whitish hair said.

"All right then. You," Grace said while pointing at the off-whitish hair. "You're fighting me."

"Shall we introduce ourselves before we fight for school leadership?" The pure white-haired boy said.

"Since you challenged us, you're familiar with our names. Right?" Momo asks while raising a single eyebrow.

"No, we don't, but we just sense a strong aura from you three," The boy with black hair said. The girls look around the schoolyard to see it is full of people. They nod towards each other.

"Let's do this in a more private area," Grace said before calling her mom telling her she needed to be called in sick. Teagan and Momo did the same.

The new kids seem to do the same. "The name's Grace Akari, and that's it," Grace said and was leaning against a rock in the secluded area where they took the boys to.

The grass reduced to ashes near Grace. "My name is Teagan Yang, Grace's right-hand man. That's all," Teagan said while standing next to Grace's right. "My name's Momoko Itou Momo for short. You will not call me Momo until you can earn my trust," Momo said and stood next to Grace's left.

"My name is Kao, and that is my twin Rikatsu," Kao said while gesturing to the boy with pure white hair. "I could've introduced myself," Rikatsu said. Kao rolls his eyes. Momo looks at him and thinks he acts similar to Grace. Momo looks at Teagan for conformation, and Teagan nodded in agreement.

"My name is Arai. I'm the twins' best friend," Arai said. "One question," Grace says. They nod, saying go ahead. "You've ever been called a monster?" Grace asked. They shook their heads.

"What's your definition of a monster?" Momo asks while raising a brow. "An imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening," Arai says and the boys nod in agreement.

"Sorry, but we're not what you thought we were," Teagan mumbles. "What?" Rikatsu asks while looking at Teagan.

"You're looking at three monsters right now," Momo said while draining the water out of the plants and having them surround her. Arai's eyes are wide open.

"What about them, they can't be that bad… Right?" Kao asks while looking at his twin. Teagan went into Rikatsu's shadow and slowly appeared behind him and whispers into his ear.

"You don't have a clue what we're capable of,"Rikatsu turns around so fast, but Teagan isn't there she's standing next Grace once again.

"Now what about Grace? Hers isn't as bad as you guys, right?" Rikatsu said while pointing at Grace.
