Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

"What do you mean I am known throughout the Universe?" Jason asked.

In front of him was Zastin who wore his armor, yet still flinched when he heard his tone. He had just finished delivering a message from Lala's Father. The message basically just stated that he approved of Lala's choice as she never favored any man before. However, he would have to protect her and not let others steal her away.

If he failed to do so, Gid basically promised to smash him and his planet.

"Due to you becoming the next successor to the throne with your future marriage with Lala. It was only a matter of time before one of her many suitors discovered this and spread the word." Zastin explained. He was pretty sure it was impossible for any other suitor to take Lala away, unless Jason basically gift wrapped her for them.

"I will warn you, if any harm comes to Lala, The King won't hesitate on his promise to destroy Earth. There once was a man who acted impolitely before my King and he was destroyed alongside his planet."

'Destroy Earth? I think Gid Deviluke is rather bold, thinking he could face two Krptonians.' Jason thought a bit amused.

While neither father or son flew around stopping crime or helping out in emergencies. Both of them wouldn't stop if someone threatened Earth. It was after all their planet they live on and neither wants to see it destroyed.

"Lala is my friend so protecting her is a small matter." Jason waved his hand unworried.

While it slightly annoyed him that everyone was basically saying he will marry Lala. Jason wasn't going to keep voice his slight disagreement. It really should be his and Lala's ultimate choice if they will and when. Until then he was happy to have a friend again.

--

"What about this?" Lala asked as she held up a blue tennis racket.

The two were supposed to be shopping for some extra clothes for Lala. While her clothing bot Peke isn't knocked off as much as in the manga series. Jason didn't feel like risking it, hence most days he forcefully told her no on using the unreliable robot.

Only after helping her browse some clothes, the two got kicked out of the shop they were in. Apparently a few other customers thought he was suspicious looking. It only got more awkward when the manager was called over to escort them out.

Now they were just shopping while visiting different shops. From looking at skateboards to music shops. They went and browsed around before leaving without buying anything. Currently they were in a sporting goods store.

"Do you want to play Tennis?" Jason asked.

While he knew the basic rules, he wasn't well versed in the sport. If she really wanted to play, he could speed read a few books to learn more about it. Such was a benefit of a super powered brain with near perfect memory and super speed.

"Do you know how to play?" Lala asked, giving the racket a couple light swings.

"No, but I can learn fast." Jason shrugged as he grabbed a racket.

"Why does it sound like you're bragging?" Lala asked.

Only once he picked up the racket, it fell apart with tape barely hanging it together. It was clear someone just taped the racket together and put it back on the shelf. Placing the racket down as he didn't feel like dealing with it.

"I think that's a sign you should pass." Jason said seriously.

"Me? You're the one that picked it up." Lala retorted.

"The universe was passing a message to you through me."

Rolling her eyes at him with a small laugh. Lala soon lost interest in the idea and put the racket back. She has gotten used to his poor and sarcastic jokes. Cheerfully moving onto the next sections with her next fleeting idea playing with paintball guns. Jason considered it before buying a couple slingshots alongside some paintballs.

'I think we got a couple of boards that can function as targets at home.' Jason thought to himself.

Returning home, the two played with the slingshots until they ran out of paintballs. In the end, besides having an afternoon of fun, they ended up with a colorful board.

'Couldn't this be considered a form of art in some people's eyes?' Jason thought as he looked at the spots of splatter paint.

--

While Jason and Lala were shooting the board and enjoying themselves. Up in space, Zastin who was writing a report on the two latest outings. When an alert suddenly appeared on the console next to him warning him that a group of assassins were spotted near Earth. Their current mission was to assassinate Jason.

"It appears Lacospo has hired them and is currently on his way to Earth." Zastin mumbled to himself.

Lacospo is one of Lala's suitors who, like the others, has a deep interest in Lala, mainly for her looks and the throne of Deviluke. He is a small frog-like alien with green skin, purple lips and pointy ears with four wives already.

"Sir, should we attempt to stop them?" A subordinate asked. The danger was, after all, heading towards the Princess they were tasked with protecting.

"No, they should already be on the planet." Zastin said seriously. "Send a message to the King. I will go down to warn the Princess myself."

"Are you sure that is a good idea?" one of the guards working under him asked. "You don't exactly have the best track record. You ended up getting lost for five hours before you relayed the King message to Jason."

Ignoring the jab at his bad sense of direction on an unfamiliar planet. Zastin already began to march out of the control room. While hearing a few sighs from his men at his departure.

--

Inside a small saucer that flew through the cosmos. A small frog-like alien laughed evilly to himself.

"Soon, Princess Lala, you will be mine. Then nothing will stop me from becoming king of the universe." Lacospo laughed. "I just hope those useless assassins will get the job done quickly."
