Getting back to the group now we all talked about the system and what we found out about it. This is when Sylvia said something that everyone seemingly skipped over. We had no mana.
'System why do we have no mana?'
*You have not unlocked your bodies passive mana absorbtion due to discontinued use of mana in your families since the persecution of wizards and witches centuries ago. Since the mana levels of the world were low in the past anyway it did not unlock your bodies ability to absorb mana. With the heightened levels of mana in the world to come, the ability will be naturally awakened in most organisms. There are other ways to absorb mana in this world as well.*
'What are those other ways'
*The host has to figure that out for himself*
I told everyone what the system has said with some people saying similar things. This is when Dan surprisingly spoke up,
"Hey guys, what if we just try to sense the mana for ourselves, and then if we succeed try to absorb it."
Of course, it would never that be easy. We just could not sense mana no matter how hard we tried, let alone absorbing it. Even my knowledge of all those MC's in novels didn't help! 'Useless system and useless knowledge!'
*Ding*
*Actually the host is at fault. The host is as talentless as an ordinary frog compared to some of the novel's MC's*
'This... I will be quiet now system.'
*That would be best host*
Nevertheless we still continued to try for a few hours until everyone was tired and hungry. We all ate half a packed lunch and saved the rest for later. It was okay to eat like this for now since they had the lunches of close to a hundred students for the 12 of them. I had worked out we could each have 1/2 a meal for dinner and lunch, and 1 whole meal for breakfast. Which would last us for about 4 days.
While eating I decided to check out my skill descriptions
[Leadership Lvl 1 - You show signs of being able to command a group of people. +5% stats to you and followers/members of your faction during battles commanded by you.]
[Blunt Weapon Mastery Lvl 0 - In your past you have used blunt weapons to defend yourself.]
[Cooking Lvl 1 - You understand how to make a basic meal with watch you've got.]
'Okay so it looks like my [Leadership] is the only skill that gives a passive buff. For now at least.'
Looking at the levels of of my skills, naturally my next thought was how to level them up.
'I just have no clue. I guess they'll level up whenever I meet certain criteria.'
*Ding*
*The host is advised to stop drifting off in thought. The female human Sylvia, and the male named Dan are approaching*
Sure enough I felt a tap on my shoulders just then. I casually threw out a, "What's up guys?" before looking and seeing there grave faces.
Sylvia said, "Jack you really need to see this right now." With Dan nodding at her words I got a little worried about what could be bothering them.
"Quick! Look over there!" They said. Looking out the door I saw a desperate person banging the door screaming to let them in. They were being chased by some zombies that were suprisingly faster than what you might expect. Still they were pretty slow though.
"Okay, don't worry we're opening the door now!" Before I could even think about what to do Sylvia shouted to them.
Rushing in the door he thanked us profusely for the next ten minutes as we not only locked the door but barricaded it now too. Looking at the boy he looked two years younger than me, about 14 years old. He was kind of funny looking with curly brown hair, some blue eyes with some glasses. He was tall with a stocky build probably about 110 to 115 kg's, it wasn't muscle though. Not even close. He was rather tubby and looked as though he had not exercised in many years. Through labored breaths he said,
"I... am... George, do... you have any... towels to... clean off with?" Looking at him again he was sweating like a pig and was very red in the face.
"Um no, but we do have some napkins." A girl who identified herself a Jenny said helpfully. Sitting down we all started to listen to his story.
