Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Visit of Archaeology Team

Can you please tell me the way to D-street?" – asked an

anonymous person to the bearer of the Highway Bar calling him

outside. He was wearing a brown color hat with few papers

holding in his left hand, and there were two other persons standing

behind him.

"There are two ways to the D-street" – answered the bearer

looking at their faces.

"First. The left way. You need to travel three kilometres

through the tunnel to reach the D-Street. On the other hand, it is an

older way, no one goes extensively. It is said that there are many

stories tied with it.

Second. The right way. You can reach the D-Street in 10

minutes" – said the bearer doubtfully showing his hand to the right

side.

"One minute."

"Who are you, Sir?"

"Why did you come here?" – questioned the bearer

straightway to the persons without hesitation.

"Hmm!! Am a professor."

"Dr. Johnson."

"Archaeologist."

"Came here to perform ancient excavation."

"By the way, thanks for helping" – said Johnson and left for

the D-Street in their old jeep.

Time Morning 8.30 Am

The archeology department was driving toward the D-Street. On

the way, they saw a person walking on the road. Johnson drove his

jeep near to him.

"Is this the way to the D-Street?" – asked Johnson to that

person.

"Yes. If you go on straight, you can directly reach the DStreet" – replied the person and left.

The Archeology Department persons finally reached the main

gate of the D-Street. When they were driving to the main gate,

Michael opposed them.

"Forgive me. Sir!"

"You cannot go further".

"I never saw you before in the D-Street."

"No strangers allowed" – said Michael frankly opposing

them.

"Am Johnson."

"Archaeologist."

"These are my assistants."

"We come here to perform ancient excavations" – replied

Johnson softly.

"Whatever."

"Without any permission letter, you are not allowed to

perform excavations." – interfered Michael.

"See this. We have no restriction certificate." – said Johnson

showing to Michael.

"Alright!"

"You can go now" – said Michael allowing them inside.

After entering the main gate, they stopped the car near the

parking lane as a sweeper cleaning the road held their attention.

Johnson moved his car to him.

"Excuse me"

"Will you please help me" – asked Johnson respectfully.

"Yes Sir!"

"Of course"

"How can I help you?" – replied the sweeper.

"Is there anyone in this D-Street who will be helpful for our

work" – asked Johnson.

"Yes"

"If you go this way, you will see Walter‟s house. Walter is

very intelligent. He will be helpful" - replied the sweeper listening

Johnson asking the way to Walter's house.

Finally, the archaeology team reached Walter's house and

rang his door bell.

"Who are you?" – questioned Walter seeing the archeology

team.

"Am Dr. Johnson"

"Archeologist"

"Came here to perform excavations" – replied Johnson

patiently shaking his hand.

"Glad to meet you, Dr. Johnson."

"Come inside" – said Walter giving him a handshake.

"After our long enquiry, we found the D-Street as one of the

most important ancient landmarks and also there are many

mysterious stories tied down with it. So our experts estimated that

it is possible that there could be some ancient antiques – said

Johnson sitting on the sofa.

"It sounds good."

"The announcement was telecasted that you are likely to visit

the next week. But you came a bit earlier" – asked Walter casually.

"Oh! Yeah !"

"It is actually the next week, but our task is rescheduled. This

is why we came earlier" - replied Johnson with a smile.

"Will you join our team" – asked Stephen who was sitting

next to Johnson.

"Hope. I could".

"On the other hand, am not in a good situation. I have many

business problems."

"But I will send my friend Sedrick with you, he is familiar

about the D-Street. He may be helpful" – suggested Walter looking

at them waiting for the answer.

"Oh! Thank you very much for suggesting the name of

Sedrick."

"However, we need to start our work soon. So please

persuade Sedrick for helping us at the earliest." – requested

Johnson.

After conferring for some time, the archeology team left the

place and went back.

After reaching Sedrick's house, Walter explained everything

to him in detail.

"Ok then, Walter"

"I will help the team" - said Sedrick.

Both of them got ready to meet Dr Johnson's team in their car.

After reaching the D-Street main gate, someone shouted.

"Walter! Please wait." – shouted Michael from the watch

house.

Walter stopped his car in a great surprise. Michael came to

him.

"Where are you going?"

"Dr Johnson and his team said that they will be waiting for

you in the Highway Bar."

At the moment, Michael got a view of Sedrick sitting next to

Walter so he asked him,

"How are you Sedrick?"

"It has been a long time, we have spoken to each other."

"I think you will not go out further. Am very happy that you

are helping Johnson team".

"Oh! I think it‟s going to be late for you, I will meet you later"

– said Michael and left to the watch house without waiting for

Sedrick to listen any word.

Finally, Walter and Sedrick reached the Highway Bar. They

parked their car and stepped inside the bar. When they were

entering the bar,

"Welcome Sir."

"Am waiting for you. Dr Johnson insisted me to send you to

him." – said the bearer and took them to the luxury room.

"Ok. I leave. Sir!" – said the bearer and left from there.

After stepping inside, Walter noticed that the team was waiting for

them.

"Oh! Sorry for the late."

"Michael said that you are here" – said Walter sitting on the

sofa.

"No problem. Michael is strict and intelligent."

"By the way, hello Sedrick!" – replied Johnson giving a

shakehand to Sedrick.

They all were enjoying the moment together by drinking wine,

chitchatting, introducing themselves to one another and discussing

on different matters. All of a sudden, amidst such merriment, one

among them started saying "D-Street".

"D-Street? Do you want to know anything about the DStreet?" – enquired Sedrick with surprise.

As the person started saying, "Yeah. In the D-street …

somethi …." Johnson interfered in between and angered on him

saying-

"You stop nonsense, Mr. Stephen."

"Nothing. Nothing. He is new to our team, and does not know

anything."

"He is knocked out and talking stupid. Leave him". – said

Johnson with a fake smile on his face.

"And."

"When is your excavation going to start?" – questioned

Walter.

"Hmm! Based on our schedule, we will start our work from

tomorrow".

"We have bought all the necessary equipment and tent".

"They are in our jeep" – said Johnson.

"it‟s gonna be too late? Seems it would be a load-shedding."

"Are you going to stay this night?" – questioned Sedrick looking

at them.

"If you do not have any problem you can stay this night in our

house."

"Will you?" – invited Walter waiting for their response.

"Hmm! No".

"But thanks!"

"We have provided with cartage".

"We will stay there this night. Thanks for inviting". –replied

Johnson looking at them.

Time: Evening 6.00

That evening, Johnson's team left the bar and headed to the cartage

that was located exactly at the opposite to the bar on the other side.

Moving toward the car, Walter realized that he forgot the keys in

the bar. He moved back to the bar to take the keys and on returning

with his keys, the bearer came to him.

"Sir! I have qualm on the Johnson team. They are likely

somewhat different". – said the bearer with an annoyed gesture on

his face.

"No problem, everything is going to happen for God‟s sake" –

said Walter and left the bar giving some change to the bearer.

Walter and Sedrick left to their houses in their car.
