Episode 13.
"Hi fame."
"Hi babe,how are you doing?
I'm fine and you?
I'm just good.
We sat on the couch in my parlour, watching 'Oloture' , an interesting movie, though I wasn't fully concentrating but I was arranging words In my head. How do I spill this bean? Well it is what it is.
"Fame,I need to talk to you about something.
"Ok,go on.
I don't think I can continue to go on with this relationship,I said looking awkward.
"Why not?"he asked, stammering.
I don't know. I just feel that instead of pushing it further and saying No in the end why not we just end it now..
"So why did you start in the first place?
"I beg your pardon, Fame.
"Oh yes, why did you give me a go ahead in the first place".
"I'm disappointed".
"Disappointment you say, well it's funny how you asked for 2years then come back to tell me this.
"Exactly what I'm saying I don't want you to wait any longer,I don't want ro hurt you in the end.
"You are already doing so".
"Daula what did I ever do to you,why are you always treating me like this, Is it a crime to love you"?
"What does this relationship mean to you?"
Ever since we've been in this you've never said the word 'I love you" to me and I've never ever complained about that, you asked for time I gave you that, what else do you want.
You know what? I guess I'm not good enough for you.
I'm tired!
Fame was already raging in anger and the best I could do was to try and calm him down. He is getting it all wrong.
"So why can't you marry me?
Society?Age?Children?Divorcee?
"Oh, I know why you don't love me. I'm not surprised. So tell me, what is your reason?
"All,all of them".
"Interesting!. So you will sabotage your own happiness for people that are living their lives.
"If you really do love me all this you are mentioning doesn't matter and you know it".
Yes, maybe what Fame said was true. They ain't my reason, I just don't have an excuse.
I thought this past year would have given me a change in my stance but it's all not clear. I've never been this confused in my entire life,I mean I should know what I want, Fame has it all but there's no connection to marriage.
It's so frustrating not knowing your reason for certain decisions.
Fame's POV.
I guess the African proverb "You can force a horse to the river but you can't force it to drink water" has a relationship with my life right now,my life's a mess. Who plays with one feeling like a toy? I really and still love Daula. I don't know why she can't see it.I'm ready to sacrifice anything just to give her the life she desires but she's not ready to see that. Well I'm not giving up. I will keep fighting until I win. After all, she said I have everything she wants in a man.
Daula's POV.
I've never met a stubborn and persuasive man in my life,he keeps on trying every damn time. He is patient and calm. I had a rethink about my decision and I decided to give in to Fame's request. He truly deserved it, not like marriage is a bed of roses anyway. I'm getting dressed to dinner tonight with Fame. It's funny how one time we are enemies the next we are friends. I guess that's the power of love.
***************************************************
I walked in and the only one who mattered was Fame.
"Come!"a young lady who I guess was the waitress called as she led the way.
"You must have taken hours to look this beautiful,Daula."
"Yes,I smiled,"and you must have spent a lot to put this on."
"Of course."Fame gripped my hand tightly before saying anything.
The menu was brought and I breathed a sigh of relief. We both made our order which was brought 15 minutes later.
After Dinner Fame asked for a walk in the glittering gathering filled with purple bougainvillea and white lilies, it was really a beautiful garden.
Fame plucked one of the lilies in pretense of it falling before my feet,I bent to pick it on getting up, Fame proposed.
"Oh my!
"Yes I will".
Instinctively,Fame turned his head to mine, without thinking, tired of waiting,he kissed me gently on the lips, and it was fervently, not caring what the other couple thought or said as the tears ran down his cheeks.
Night had fallen and the couples who had passed us while we were having our moment now passed us again, still sitting on the bench, hand in hand, with my head on his shoulder, staring at the sky.
"They must be crazy," said one.
"Probably they lack home training,'' whispered another.
And then the horns of vehicles drowned their voices out. The moon, however, took notice of the moment and rose from behind it's cloud to light up the sky and send Silver ripples across the Isis.
THE END.
