Everyone knows Holly. But they don't KNOW Holly. They knew the nerd, with glasses who loved reading who had homophobic parents. But they didn't know the Holly that Kassie and Josh knew. Holly was a smart girl, who was kind and had bushy brown hair, green eyes and slightly crooked teeth. She was goofy and kind, even with all the bullying she suffered, she still kept a smile. It's something Kassie admired about Holly.
No body ever wanted to sit near Holly, they didn't want to be associated with her. She was the weird kid. People only ever talked to her if they needed an essay written for them as she got straight A's. Straight A's.... the only thing straight about her. As Holly sat down she watched as everyone sat as far as humanly possible away from her. She heard chairs squeaking as the metal dragged across the floor as kids tried to get away from her. She heard the chatter of jocks and computer geeks as the class filled. Holly knew she should do some last minute cramming for the test she was about to take, but the only thing she could think of was Kassie. She loved the way Kassie's hair was always wavy, the perfect kind of wavy, it was natural. She loved how her grey eyes contracted with her tanned skin. Holly didn't want to admit it, but she was deeply and irrevocably in love with Kassie.
The school bell rang for the end of the day, kids rushed out the dull classroom. They pushed and shoved eachother like there was a fire and they were about to die. Holly found it amusing how desperately everyone wanted to leave. She understood why everyone wanted to leave, who would want to spend anymore time then they have to in a dirty public school, walking on the dirty white floors and walking down the same halls lined with blue lockers which barely locked half the time, with teenagers who haven't figured out how to use deodorant yet? But why do they need to act like it's a life or death situation? Holly waited back as everyone rushed through the yellow door, finally when the coast was clear she ventured out into the swarm of high schoolers trying to exit the building.
Once she finally got to her locker she was met by Kassie and Josh. Hollys breath seemed to get caught in her throat, just looking at Kassie made her heart pound and her breath get stuck. "We are going to watch a movie, want to come?" Kassie asked invitingly. Holly nodded, unable to speak. Kassie just smiled as they made small talk as they walked to Josh's red sports car. "Another new car Josh?" Holly asked as she rolled her eyes. "Hey! A mans gotta have a selection." Josh spoke as he faked being offended. Kassie slapped him playfully and ruffled his brown hair. "Not the hair Kas! It takes time to look this good." He grumbled as he flattened his hair. Josh looked like the stereotypical douche bag. Brown hair, all slicked up, his football jacket always on, blue jeans, muscular, 6'2, with blue eyes. Holly understood why Kassie was attracted to him, she was every straight girls dreams.
As Josh was driving Kassie turned up the radio, "I love this song!" Holly yelled over the loud music. Kassie and Holly sung loudly to the spice girls as Josh shook his head. After the song finished they all bursted out laughing, "You two suck at singing!" Josh chuckled as he parked the car. "I happen to think my singing is very adequate thank you." Holly spoke, sarcasm lacing her voice.
