Chapter 4 - Prototype Flip phone

God suppressed his laugh while looking at me. It seems like the confusion is quite evident on my face. Just letting your kids know that whenever your boss calls for you or in my case appears in front of you it's never a good sign.

"You thought this would be an easy job Miss Juniper? As a working lady, you should know every work will have some sort of hindrance.", he said all this while a bunch of office papers like some sort of a report appeared in front of him.

"So the demon has already caused quite a mess for you it seems and is right now tailing someone else. He also has a high success rate in turning people away from the faith and has 2 human souls combust into the annihilation pit. Unlike you, he doesn't seem like a slacker."

I glared at God also mentally cursing him. Right, compare me to a demon. I feel like his work would be a lot easier than mine.

"Good news is he doesn't seem to be aware of your involvement in today's incident and it seems you handled him before things would become uncontrollable."

I don't know what I exactly did but it seemed to work out! I'm kind of glad that God gave me an upper hand about the demon not knowing about me yet. It feels like I have to deal with him sooner or later.

"What does a demon do exactly?". It's better to get as much information I could get to deal with it.

"Demons are creatures that instigate and use humans' dark sentimental emotions against them. They are the ones who cloud sensible judgment and vacate hearts for dark thoughts. Hence leading them towards the road to hell leaving them astray. They do the work for the Devil."

Well, the last part was obvious. I just realize how melodramatically God answers stuff. The whole thing sounded likes it's a part of some holy book. Well if I want my subjects to go to the nirvana civilization, aka the advanced planet, then I wouldn't want them to go to hell now. And it seems like I would be getting faulty data from my subjects too. So all in all demons bad news.

"So what am I supposed to do about it now?"

"Well, you just have to do your job", he sat up straight. The glasses and report vanished into the thin air. His wings started to evaporate.

"Miss. Juniper take care and do not disappoint me. Any doubts then just mail me using this", he threw a flip phone at me with I caught mid-air.

"Keep this safe with you now. It's a prototype I made." After saying this he fully vanished from the patio chair.

Lady red stepped out of the bathroom, drying her hair with a towel. God said her name was Kathy. I should call her that from now on. She seemed like she calmed down now. Her eyes looked very red and puffy. She cried while showering. Classy.

She holds the jacket again and this time nuzzled her nose into it. She scrunched her nose and made a face of pure disgust. She threw the jacket in the washer with her towels and turns it on.

She went straight to bed after doing her night skincare. She is a lady with the right principle tho. Skincare before bed is a must.

She cuddles her pillow and closed her eyes to sleep. It took some twisting and turning in her bed to get her to sleep. I looked over at her and she seemed finally relax and her brows also relaxed after crunching it for a bit.

I went over to her working table and tried getting information about her that could help me. I couldn't find anything important other than a bunch of random guys' photos with a letter from her mom telling her to get married. Sheesh, her mom needs to chill.

I took out the flip phone that God gave me. It's funny to think God made a prototype flip phone. I started to look through the contacts and features. In the contact, God's number and a contact named 'if emergency'. Okay, convenient to know that. I looked through it and found there was a project app on the home screen. I pressed it and a computer like a hologram appeared.

It had a 2 part hologram with a keyboard and a screen with a puppy desktop. The flip phone was suspended in the air. I'm wildly impressed with this convenient setup. I looked at the home screen and taped on the folder icon. It had Kathy's name on a folder. I clicked it and sure enough, it had some already existing data on her.

It looks like she was previously monitored by some other soul before me. It had various data about her mood fluctuations, ideal characteristics, and various situations she dealt with in a span of three months. She seems like a smart A+ student with a positive outlook on life. But she doesn't seem to have any good relationship with the opposite gender. She had an abusive and lazy father which lead to a divorce. Then a cheating boyfriend in high school. Then had a guy forced her to date her going to an extent of stalking her. Then when she liked a guy and confessed the guy blatantly said she was a gold digger. Yikes.

She seems to be constantly targeted by her male coworkers too and looked down on on many occasions. So today's incident was just a small snippet. There seems to be some red marking on her too. Extreme self-loathing and anxiety in her early teens. Anger and frustration seem to be constantly high. I suddenly see her in a very new light. I typed down what happened today and filled in the details. I added courage to her list of merits. I was contemplating whether I should write about the officer but I think I need more information about it. It's better to wait than to jump to any conclusions.

I flipped the phone closed and the keyboard and screen disappeared.

I looked back at Kathy and I nearly jumped out of my skin. Someone was looming over her and it had horns. It kept playing with her hair and murmuring something in her sleep.

She looked uncomfortable in her sleep and kept saying 'no' over and over again. The thing laughed and kept hunching over her.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared but that thing was tall and dark. I couldn't make out its face because the room wasn't lit enough. It looked like the shadow of a demon. Wait it can't be the demon that suddenly came by. God forgot to mention that they are so scary.

Kathy seemed to start getting a lot now and she kept crying in her sleep. Why isn't she waking up! The phone in my hands started to beep. Shoes! Not now shut up.

I tried to switch off the damn thing when it suddenly stopped. It was an alert for the subject being in an extreme situation. The demon couldn't hear it right? It didn't seem to notice my presence before so I should be fine.

I sighed in relief at that thought and looked up to see a pair of yellow glowing eyes. Help.
