It has been a week since the party.
You were back to the Isle of Atlantis.
Your birthday is tomorrow and you have to tell Paris and Rin your decision on your birthday's eve.
In your heart, you have already decided a long time ago. You just didn't know how to tell them about it.
You are afraid of how Paris will take this. He told you he is not a gentleman. As to what that means in a time like this scares you.
But you are more afraid to tell Rin. You don't know how he feels about you. He has never told you he loves you or that he can ever love you back.
You are afraid to tell him you love him and in that instant, he can always tell you he changed his mind.
Rin Saito is an unreadable puzzle.
How can you ever figure out how he would react?
You sighed as the two handsome men tried to prepare your dinner.
You wished you could all go back to that time, back when all seems so innocent. The four of you living together in one house.
You miss Daisuke and the two obviously miss him, too. The food prepared by him always tasted divine, well, at least your two boys were trying.
You nearly laughed when black smoke came out from your kitchen.
Perhaps another of Paris' doing.
Tears fell from your eyes as you realized you might lose him, too.
Paris has been your closest friend.
He has shielded you from so much hurt every time Rin chooses to ignore you.
And now, this might be the last day you can have with him.
If he chooses to hate you afterward, can you blame him?
You almost laughed when Rin came out from the kitchen coughing.
He was covered with charcoal-like black powder.
"That silly painter took off after destroying your oven. But he left you this note," Rin handed you a pink note that instantly made you think of Paris.
Your heart pounded as you read the note.
"Hey, I don't want to get dumped. So I'll just dump you. I'll keep in touch with Rin so tell him yourself if you miss me. By the way, tell me once the two of you have broken up, I'll sure be waiting. Wink. xoxo, Paris." You smiled after reading that. Paris took it better than you imagined.
'I guess you are a gentleman deep inside Paris. Thank you,' you whispered in the air as you felt some of your worries disappear.
"He said he has decided to dump you," Rin said casually.
"Yes, he did," you said, smiling.
"Then, will you be my wife?" Rin asked like it was the most natural thing in the world to do.
"How about I'll be your girlfriend first?" you asked him back, smiling.
"Very well," Rin said, pulling you closer to him.
The tone is suddenly serious. He tenderly cupped your chin as you meet his eyes.
That endless darkness calming your nerves. Enveloping you in a feeling of certainty.
This is the man you traveled another world for.
The man you have always loved.
The beautiful.
The perfect.
Rin-sama.
----------
You woke up at dawn with the uncanny feeling that you are being watched.
You switched on your bedside lamp and was startled to find someone standing beside your bed, watching you closely.
"Rin-sama! Why are you inside my bedroom?" your voice trembled.
You love him but this is simply something you don't know how to react to.
"Hey!" was all he said. He continued to stand beside your bed, unmoving.
"Rin, you shouldn't be inside my room. This is not a proper conduct," you explained uncomfortably.
"Why?" he asked like your statement does not make any sense to him.
"Well, it's very late and I'm in my nightgown," you said, blushing uncontrollably.
'Like, was that not obvious?'
"Hmm... it's not late, it's early..." he said and sat beside you.
"That's not the issue!" you raised your voice to make a point.
"Why are you embarrassed? I like what I see," he said. His eyes traveled the length of your silk nightgown which barely covered anything at all.
"We're not married yet," that was all you can come up with while pulling the covers up to your chest.
"I just wanted to look at you like I always did," he said as a matter of fact.
"As you always did? You mean to say this is all part of your routine in the past?" you can't help but feel your cheeks get hotter every minute.
"Well, yes. I start when you're asleep and continue until you wake up. You never said anything about it before," he explained without any trace of hesitation.
"Well, that's because I didn't know about it!" you exclaimed and covered your face with your hands.
"How long have you been doing this?" you asked.
"Since the moment I met you of course," he sighed. Like, he wanted to convey you are being dumb.
"Well, that's not normal at all!" you protested.
"Watching something I like is not normal?" he said, removing your fingers from your face and replacing them with his.
Your lips trembled in anticipation, why does he always have this effect on you.
"I... I... I want to say..." you forgot your protest as he meets your trembling lips with his.
You forgot a single thing in the world.
Every logic escapes your mind when he claims you like this.
He stopped and said, "Today is the day you were born... do you wish to spend the day with me?"
"There's no one else in this world I'll rather spend my day with but you," you smiled and hugged him.
"Then, do you trust me?" he asked, his expression ever unchanging.
"I do trust you," the moment you said that, you felt immense pain in your head like it is being drilled with a really bad headache.
Then your vision goes hazy and you feel that you were being carried away.
You wanted to panic but his calm heartbeat assured you that no harm would come to you.
So you laid your head on his chest instead. "I love you, Rin," you whispered before you lost your consciousness.
