Chereads / Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments / Chapter 212 - A Hollow Royal

Chapter 212 - A Hollow Royal

"Diplomacy is something you eventually have to deal with Viceroy, so I hope you'll be taking notes." "I get it, it's pretty troublesome if I don't really know what to do, but this is a good opportunity to learn from you." "Alright, if you get the problem then that's enough, let's think about our position first." Draxus and Viceroy began a quick discussion about how they will be able to reach out to the royals that are currently staying in the manor. "We can't just waltz in normally and hope they understand our intention when we suddenly appear." "True, but how exactly do we appear?" "Well, I guess we have to just show our identities and introduce ourselves straight up." "We really have to choose that approach?" "Yeah, it's the fastest way we could introduce ourselves. By the way, what else about this country did you learn about?" Draxus moved to ask about the current state of the country, to which Viceroy had a full explanation.

"Two Capital cities that are always at war huh...? If we really need to complete peace then we have to get serious about dealing with this country." "Do you think it's possible to unite these two countries?" "It's quite simple really, have a royal from them marry into an archon or executor for each of us. But I don't think anyone of us would marry out for politics alone. It's just not beneficial in both short term and long term in personal parts." "I see... Are there any other ways?" "Well I could always charm one person if I find the royal fancy, but that depends." "Sick ass bastard, you're casually gonna look for another wife huh?" "Uhh... No?" "Haha funny, but would you really do it?" "I have to do what I can... I'm conscious that I will have at least eight lovers." "So you know? How?" "It's because Matilda's existence caused Reito to hesitate. If something's connected to my souls and the girls around me, it has to be a chance to deal with the other souls if possible." Hearing Draxus aware of having multiple fiancés had somewhat gave Viceroy a surprise on how resolute he spoke about it. "So I guess they know about this too?" "Yep, they wouldn't mind if I get more than what was expected, but I really don't want to go double digits if I can help it." "Yet you act like no girl is enough, sick bastard." "Alright shut up..." Viceroy laughed as Draxus couldn't make a response towards his nitpicking. "You have no issued with the plan right? Just keep an eye on everything else, I'll handle the rest." Viceroy nodded, as he understood why things being left to Draxus had pretty much become a normal occurrence whenever they are stuck on something.

The two of them left the city to make their formal entrance. But before that, they had sneakily left a letter of the visitation to make sure about the awareness of the other party.

There was still time before the supposed arrival of the two of them, so they decided to check out the battlefield. "So this kind of thing happens nearly every day huh..." Draxus narrowed his eyes as he glanced over thousands of dead bodies. "For something like this to happen due to rivalry, it's not really a great sight." Both of them were uncomfortable with seeing a sea of corpses, but they were already accustomed to gruesome sights due to their line of work. "The Solarians have a massive weapon prepared, and they intend to snipe a town with it, completely erasing it from existence." "What the fuck did I just hear? A massive weapon? Tch!" Draxus felt annoyed, as he realized that they would be getting in a worse position if they spent anymore time. "It's early, but let's get to work."

Using a boundary gap, they arrived to the outside area of the city they were planning in. This time, Draxus had his clothes that was fully formal and Viceroy had his naginata out. "Identification please?" The guard, who saw the two of them felt completely at awe at their atmosphere. Seeing as the two he just perceived had great power, and a serious expression made him think that he's greeting someone important, to which he is. "Draxus Heimdal Kingfisher. Archon of Preeliance." "A-Archon?! Let the manor know right away!" He quickly shouted to the other guards to inform the manor of the sudden visit. "The place seems to be quite festive, is there something that's currently happening in this city?" Draxus calmly asked the guard about the current festivities, Viceroy had already asked such, but the guard still answered anyway. "Currently, the royal family had come to visit this city for the town's foundation week. It's a custom that occurs within us Lunarians." "I see, then I'd like to be guided towards the manor immediately." "V-Very well! We'll send somebody to guide you, will you be requiring a carriage?" "On foot will do, no need to complicate things too much." The guard felt relieved, as there wasn't too much service required to please Draxus. It gave enough of an impression on his benevolence and reason of visit.

They were quickly guided towards the manor. No longer needing to sneak around, they entered the residence without anybody questioning their purpose. Draxus and Viceroy were escorted to a small reception room, to which they were greeted by two fine ladies. One of them was a pure beauty and a complete adult charm. While the other had hollow heterochromic eyes of pink and purple. The elder had pink hair while the younger had purple with tinges of pink. Both wear similar and matching white and red shirts, black and red skirts. The lady that seems to be the elder wore a hagoromo, while the younger lady which was the same age as Draxus wore a black hat with a red bow. "Please take your seat, mother and father are still preparing themselves for the visit." "It's understandable, it's quite sudden for us to visit after all." The older lady smiled as she somewhat felt the presence of Draxus as calming. The younger lady hasn't spoken, as she seemed to be unable to do anything. Draxus, taking a good look at both of them, noticed something. "She is...?" "Oh my, did you notice?" Draxus could only nod, as her hollow eyes didn't seem to be looking at him, but a single direction. "As expected of an Archon... But before our parents arrive, I'm Violetta Lunari, the crown princess of Lunarians. This girl is Scarlet Lunari, she's the youngest princess." "Is she also unable to talk?" "She actually had extreme traumatic experiences due to the war. She was once targeted by the Solarians and was not only severely injured, she nearly got defiled and killed. She had been having difficulty interacting with people, but as expected, we can't just let an Archon visit without introducing everybody." "I wish you'd consider her feelings too, she doesn't need to force herself too much. But... Her eyes is damaged as expected huh...? Did she have any ability for her to be targeted?" "She's a puppeteer, capable of using many dolls that it could change the state of the battlefield. But she was still young when she was brought to such place, and now not only she can't see anymore, but she won't be able to speak." "Puppeteer... I'm interested in her power... But I can't really just ask her and expect a response..." Violetta's eyes suddenly had a spark of hope, as Draxus gained a bit of interest on Scarlet's power. "I have heard that the facilities in Preeliance are capable of curing such ailments. Would you be so kind as to cure her? You can ask us for anything you want afterwards." "Violetta, slow down..." A different voice spoke out to stop Violetta. A coarse but authoritative voice came and told her to slow down for a bit.

"Father... I know that our technology isn't enough, even if we try it so many times we won't be able to succeed! But if the facilities of Preeliance!" "That's why I told you to slow down..." Viceroy was having difficulty trying to follow the conversation, as he simply stayed silent and continued to watch the exchange between country leaders. "First, we don't even know if they will accept, and even if they do, what will they stand to gain?" The coarseness suddenly became sharp, as the leading Lunarian had spoken completely truthful and reasonable words. However, Draxus who seemed to have something in mind, opened up. "I don't mind. In fact, I can cure her right now." When Viceroy heard that, he immediately understood what Draxus is about to do. "Drax, you don't mean..." "Yep, I can cure her right now." "But we don't really..." Viceroy got a closer look to Draxus's expression, but then immediately realized that it was just simple kindness that he's showing. "You Lunarians sound like good and reasonable people. And besides, we'll be offering an alliance towards your country as soon as possible. So I don't mind helping Miss Scarlet." "B-But... What will you need...?" "I don't really need a compensation, but I'm more interested on Miss Scarlet and her abilities. Besides, once she's cured, what she really needs is somebody who can truly understand what trauma is... Scarlet twitched a little, trying to look around as she heard something about somebody being able to understand something. "What are you talking about...?" "You'll see..." Draxus simply smiled sympathetically, to which Viceroy immediately noticed the true reason why Draxus was able to sympathize with her. "Zero's memories huh...?" Hearing that mutter from Viceroy, Draxus shunned him by placing his finger over his lips while giving a little [Shhh].
