Remuel and Bethany returned to the palace in Luventrion after clearing up at least half of the second floor of the dungeon. He placed both the portal and force tech in his interdimensional storage to avoid questioning of the new gadgets. When it was time to report to the king, they reported what had happened in the dungeon.
"In summary, things went a little crazy in the dungeon. Which is why we're heading back to Preeliance, to get some gadgets that can help in those puzzles." Remuel explained to the king while he was supplemented by Bethany of her findings from time to time. After their report, the king raised his questions. "I get that you are progressing well in the dungeon clearing but, may I inquire as to why you're bringing Bethany with you?" Remuel turned his eyes away in embarrassment which made Bethany retort internally. "You're passing this to me??!" She blushed but she decided to explain why anyways.
"That's a surprise, to think that one of my scholars would get engaged with Remuel." The king widened his eyes in surprised while Remuel sighed in exasperation. "Unfortunately, my marriage partners aren't decided by my own, but by Victorina herself. It can't be helped if she's okay with it at this point." Bethany chuckled at his rough explanation of his right to say something about marriage, but Remuel was entirely not in power when it comes to giving his hand to members. "It sounds like you feel troubled about it Remuel, I do understand how you feel though." Remuel's gaze quickly shot back at the king while trying to refute. "Not exactly, I know that it's tough to handle many hands in marriage, but I at the very least not be as bad as my fellow archon Draxus. Dude's going ham as he has like, three royal princesses as his betrothed right now. What's more, it's likely gonna go up in number even, judging by his actions." He sighed once again as he hung his head down. He wasn't dejected in the slightest, nor annoyed by the fact that he has a lot of girls around him, but it was about him being called a womanizer alongside Draxus. He thought to himself while trying to joke about Draxus. "Only Draxus deserves to be called a womanizer! What's more, a pedophile!" By earth's standards, Draxus is currently twenty, and he has fiancés going down to fifteen years of age. Thus, it is pretty much questionable for him to date a minor. However, it doesn't apply to the world they're currently in.
The king was able to readily give his permission to the engagement, and asked them whether they wish for a party to happen in the castle of Luventrion. Remuel easily accepted that and temporarily left the country.
Remuel carried Bethany in a princess-carry style as they flew back to Preeliance. However, on the way there, Remuel felt a very ominous presence just outside the border of Luventrion. He prepared his guard as he descended down to the ground. "Careful, we got company." He let Bethany down slowly and brought out his scythe. He was still able to detect the presence so he brought out and activated [Amalgam of Secrets] to locate the enemy. But just before he began a wide scan, the book was forcibly closed and multiple darts were thrown towards him and Bethany.
"Careful!" Remuel deflected the darts that were aimed at Bethany and deftly dodged the ones aimed at him. After dodging, he was no longer able to detect the ominous presence. He looked around in confusion to check around while staying in a prepared stance. Bethany was doing the same as she prepared to avoid any incoming attacks. Before long, Remuel got impatient and activated his magic while grabbing Bethany to ensure that she stays close to him. "[Fog of Death]!" Black fog quickly spreads out, covering them and their surroundings and making sight impossible. Since the effect was indiscriminate to ally or enemy, Bethany started to feel sleepy. It was then he decided to make a retreat by creating a portal while they're out of sight.
The portal created was connected to Remuel's bedroom, right next to his bed. He quickly laid Bethany there for the time being as she had lost consciousness. However, Remuel isn't going to allow anybody who attacks him or people close to him leave alive. He returned back through the portal in the [Fog of Death] in pursuit of his target.
"[Lockdown]!" He targeted any living creature within a kilometer, which consumed a huge portion of his mana, adding the consumption of [Fog of Death] he was already sitting at low mana, but he always comes prepared. "[Absorption]!" He quickly absorbed everything within the [Fog of Death]'s range, absorbing the mana of the fog, the chains, and the mana of the captured. Now, Remuel has overloaded his mana capacity, but he used it to boost his body and strengthen it permanently, allowing him to raise his limits and potential without any problems. The only problem with him absorbing in overload is that, the permanent reward is too little, but it can crazily scale up when it is frequently done.
Remuel finally detected a faint presence that was making desperate moves to escape. He quickly followed that presence and moved right in front of the person crawling on the ground. "Now who sent you?" Remuel quickly pointed the scythe right at the neck of the person. The person in question could simply play dumb as he looked like an average citizen of Luventrion. However, Remuel detected a faint presence of an apostle inside the person. "It's been a while Remuel Baphomet, I believe, you may not remember me though..." The young man smiled as he glared up at Remuel. "Of course I can't, you're an insignificant anyway." The young man clicked his tongue in frustration. He was hoping that he could eliminate Remuel but his power was way beyond the standard. "Tch, then what if I told you that I'm the weakest of Magna's lords?" Remuel's eyes widened, but that small gap in surprise allowed the young man to make a nasty escape. "See you again soon." With a menacing smile, an explosion occurred right above the young man, making Remuel avoid it in a rush while minimizing the damage.
"Just what..." Remuel looked around while remaining on guard, but he no longer feeling an ominous aura. "What the hell... So that Apostle also got lackeys huh...? I got some damage from the suicide escape, so I should be careful the next time I encounter one of them." Remuel drank some phoenix tears which makes a perfect heal of his body before opening a portal back to his room. It was then he realized that he could actually just do this the whole time, but decided against it anyway as he enjoyed flying more.
He sat down on his bed and waited for Bethany to wake up. But at the same time, he took out his phone and made a phone call to Draxus.
