"What the hell do we do!?" Rada looked to Kiba for help.
He seemed to have completely lost his ability to reason, this was not good in the situation they were in.
Kiba didn't answer, he remained silent and approached Rada.
"Argh! What the hell are you doing!?"
The young man jumped up in sudden pain, below him he saw Kiba biting his leg firmly.
"Snap out of it!"
As the cub sank his teeth into his leg, he spurred his companion back to his senses.
"This prince didn't follow you for the purpose of going into a lizard's stomach! Pull yourself together!"
The pain caused by the bite brought Rada to his senses from his state of shock.
"I get it, I get it! Geez, did you have to bite me...?"
Rada moaned at the puppy, but inside thanked him from the bottom of his heart.
He took a deep breath and regained control of her emotions. After all, he had already taken the path of both cultivators and possessors, he could no longer call himself an ordinary human being.
"Any ideas?" he looked around for some way out.
"He has us surrounded, our primary goal is to get out of here, the rest we'll see."
Kiba gave his idea, inside the cave they were at a distinct disadvantage, it was vital to get out of there.
Meanwhile, the python waited no longer and began to form its deadly coils. By now it was done, once inside the coils their end was certain.
The two watched as the python's body moved closer and closer to them, as if the whole room was closing in.
Rada pulled out his dagger and struck a blow against the snake's body.
"Peng!"
But his attack didn't do the slightest damage to the snake. The python's eyes seemed to express derision at the human's futile attempt. Its body was covered in scales that were hard and flexible at the same time, not even the sharpest weapons could scratch it.
"What the hell is it made of!?" lamented Rada in horror.
"It's not an ordinary snake, in legends royal pythons are said to be descended from dragons," said Kiba gravely.
"Dragons!?" cried Rada.
Being a lover of fantasy and having read many stories about them, he had a rather thorough knowledge about them and their incredible power.
But all he knew was the pure figment of his world's imagination! Seeing such a thing live was creating a great emotional shock in him.
(We have a chance, but it's risky, we might not make it) Kiba's voice caught his attention again.
(In this enclosed place even its body will find it difficult to move freely, with the right timing we can escape its coils.)
The snake's head remained on constant alert in case of a misstep by the two.
Rada sensed at once by looking at him where the risk lay.
(It will attack us as soon as we try, won't it?)
(Exactly) Kiba nodded.
(Once we try to slip away, it will attack us without hesitation. At that point, if we don't resist his attack, we will die.)
Rada took a breath of cold air, the situation was not the best at all. They didn't have the strength to counter the python, they could mostly attempt to escape, but even that possibility was becoming increasingly intangible.
Of course, the python was fully aware of their slim chances of success, otherwise it would have attacked instantly. But for a snake, a living prey was much more attractive than a dead one, and although it was no ordinary snake, it was no different for him either.
(What are our chances of resisting its attack?) he asked looking at the pup.
(By activating my barrier as a last resort we have a chance, though we won't come out unscathed) the puppy's tone of voice became serious in his mind.
(Besides, I will be unable to do anything after that.)
Rada thought back to the moment of his fall from the waterfall. It was Kiba who had saved them from both Scarn's attack and the fall. Thanks to his light barrier.
After that moment, however, Kiba found himself completely out of energy and had to rest for a long time before recovering.
The python was no stronger than Scarn, but Kiba had already spent a lot of energy.
His barrier wouldn't have the same effect as last time, so failure was always a possibility.
At that moment, Rada felt that he really was useless.
He gritted his teeth in frustration; although he thought of himself as a rational person, he had moments where his emotions took over.
Without much ado, Kiba jumped into Rada's arms.
(Ready when you are.)
With determination, the puppy was ready for any outcome.
Rada took a deep breath.
(Alright.)
Tension was running high, but her heartbeats weren't galloping as one would have expected in such a situation.
Survival instinct, will to exist, determination, a lot of words resurfaced in his mind.
The situation was crazy, but his mind suddenly went blank.
It was time to be the greatest of fools.
"Go!"
Rada gave his legs all the energy he possessed with a searing snap. The snap was so strong that the impact with the ground created a huge cloud of dust.
The dust cloud had no effect on the python, which sensed the movement in the centre and launched itself to attack, ready to eat them in one bite.
At that point, Kiba released all his remaining power and formed a barrier of light that enveloped him and Rada.
Almost at the same moment, the python's large mouth rushed at them both. The python's sharp teeth found resistance in the barrier, which was quickly growing weaker and weaker.
"Now!" Kiba released all the barrier's energy, creating a shockwave.
"SHAAAA!"
The snake's cry resounded in the cave.
"It's time!"
Rada ran away without looking back with Kiba in his arms completely exhausted.
The python's body wiggled with extreme force inside the cave. It was furious, not at the wound it had received, but at the affront to its prey.
As he ran away, the young man noticed signs of collapse inside the cave. He anxiously hurried off, cursing his bad luck at always finding himself in such situations.
It was becoming a habit to run away from desperate situations.
How much longer did he have to run for his life?
The light from outside grew bigger and bigger, Rada rejoiced, they were close to leaving the cave.
