Chapter 27 - A rude awakening

"The glove looks like it was made especially for you," the elder smiled at the pupil.

"Master, where did you find this? Really, it seems made for this kind of situation..."

He could only ask in amazement at the glove's special function.

"A long time ago, I used to travel a lot and that glove is part of one of my finds," the old man replied. His eyes were wandering in memories of those past travels, there was a tinge of nostalgia.

"It must be great to be able to travel the world, see new places, new people, who knows what wonders this world hides!"

Rada let her mind run wild, making her teacher participate.

"Ohohoh, there will be time for that son, but first, you must be prepared" the master's initial gentle tone suddenly changed to a serious one.

"I totally agree with you master, that's why I find myself in your hands, mine is just a feeling but.... I always had a feeling that you were much more than just an Elder in charge of a small village."

Reflexively, Rada gave a purely personal judgment of the master. He didn't quite know what it was, yet he was certain that he could tell that the old man before him was more than just an Elder.

"Oh, and what makes you think that?" the Elder asked curiously.

"Intuition, after all, from what world to world, only the strongest dictate the law" Rada replied, as if to hint at something.

"Ahahaha" the Elder laughed, but some melancholy could be sensed.

"You are absolutely right my boy, in this world everything is dictated by the strongest! The winner writes history and the loser is left to wallow in self-pity! If you want to take your place in this chaotic world, you must take it by force!"

The elder's eyes this time gave off a piercing and savage expression, they were the eyes of a person accustomed to a cruel world, one that left no room for the weakest.

"That said, let's eat and then to bed early, from tomorrow you'll be very busy young man," he said the with a grin.

After dinner, the elder accompanied Rada to his room upstairs, it was spacious and well ventilated. Opposite the entrance, there was a window that showed a wonderful view outside.

"This will be your room," he said.

Rada looked around and nodded smiling, the room was gorgeous in its simplicity. There was a bed placed next to the window, a small dark wood table with a chair with rounded backs and nothing more.

A nice breeze came in through the window, the smooth white curtains fluttered like a sail inside the room

"Master as for the bathroom?" Rada jerked, for a moment he had a bad feeling. Given the technological ageshe seemed to be in, he thought the bathrooms were in pitiful condition, from the bottom of his heart she hoped it wasn't so.

His expression complicated.

"Mm? Oh, the bathroom is down the hall on the right" the Elder replied as usual, not noticing the boy's strange behavior.

Without wasting a moment, Rada put Kiba on the bed and headed to the bathroom.

Arriving at the door, he had a moment's hesitation.

"Is everything all right?" asked the puzzled Elder.

"A-ha! ye-yes! I was overthinking, heheh" replied the young man, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment.

He opened the door slowly, looking like a classic Horror movie scene was about to occur, he closed his eyes as he entered.

His nose however smelled something, there was a good smell in the room. Rada took a deep breath and opened his eyes slowly. The scenery before him allowed him to breathe a sigh of relief.

The bathroom was perfectly tidy and clean, plus nothing was missing, although it was rough in style. There were the essentials: a bathtub, a sink and yes, even a cup.

"Thank God!" he shook his head, smiling. His worst nightmare was averted.

He loved the conveniences of modern society, especially when it came to hygiene, being able to see that there were decent bathrooms reassured him.

After he finished washing up, he went back to his room and got into bed, it didn't take him long to get to sleep, despite the multitude of thoughts going through his head.

The next day, Rei and Cody showed up early.

"Good morning Elder!"

"Oh, good morning my boys," the Elder greeted in his usual kind and lively mood.

"Mm? Rada?" the brothers looked around, but saw no sign of their friend.

"Eheh, I think he's still sleeping, Rei before making breakfast, could you be so kind as to go wake him up?" the elder asked politely, but inside he laughed like never before.

"M-me!?" Rei asked hesitantly.

"Yes child, Cody needs to help me with a matter," the elder replied.

Cody looked at him doubtfully, but after crossing his eyes with the man he seemed to sense something.

"Okay..."

The sister replied hesitantly, but still decided to go, after all there was nothing to be embarrassed about, he thought.

"I think my young pupil will have a rude awakening ohohoh!" with a hand on his thick beard, the elder sneered.

"But Eeder..." exasperated, Cody realized, the elder was up to something.

Rei stood in front of Rada's room when he was about to knock, but suddenly the door opened by itself.

"Rada are you awake?" Rei cautiously entered. Unconsciously he lowered his tone of voice.

The first light of dawn had already penetrated inside the room, Rei looked around for a moment before seeing him.

He was sleeping soundly, along with little Kiba by his side, his expression was peaceful, like watching a newborn child.

Without realizing it, his face was very close to the boy's. She didn't even notice, it was as if she was hypnotized.

She moved her hand closer into his hair to caress it, when suddenly....

BOOM!

The door behind her closed with a loud bang, the sound was so loud that it even shook the window.

Rada, who a moment before had been sleeping soundly, spun around and bumped into the unconscious Rei next to him, the two of them falling to the ground with a thud.

Time seemed to stop for an instant. Rada, who found herself on top of Rei, saw her eyes reflected in those of the girl. They were so close that they almost touched.

Rei remained wide-eyed for a few seconds before noticing something. He felt a pressure on his chest, it was Rada's hand.

At first he didn't quite understand the situation, it took a few seconds before he realized what was happening.

"AAHH!!!" he let out a scream that made the whole house shake. The birds fled from the trees bolting and frightened.

"Ohoh here we go!" the elder rushed along with Cody to Rada's room.

When suddenly...

Slap! was the sound of a slap.

They saw Rei running out of the room, her face was all red and she looked like she was about to cry.

Cody looked in the direction of his sister worried, but followed the Elder into the room.

They found Rada sitting with his back against the bed, with Kiba behind him in an alert position.

"Big brother... What happened?" the little boy asked worriedly.

"Eh... I wish I knew too!" he replied somewhat indignantly.

On one side of his face, there was the clear imprint of a hand.
