"Really? Well to answer your question, this town is called Yorkton..."
"I know that, what I want to know is where the hell Yorkton is. What country is this?" looked like I genuinely left him puzzled.
"Are you serious?" my gaze let him know that I was serious, "Well then, right now you're in the Kingdom of Astara, we're in the southern province of Gurf."
Looking at me he could tell I was more confused than when he started.
"Astara has two provinces, Tytra the northern province and Gurf the sourthern-"
"Okay, that's enough..." at this point it was clear enough this wasn't earth. Now that my fears had been confirmed that terrifying feeling I had been expecting had arrived.
A completely different world, all that it's offered me from the moment I set foot on it was possibilities of experiencing death in brutal ways. Would I really be able to survive here?
"Calm down kid," Apparently my distress was visible enough. "What, are you really not from around here? Are you lost?"
"Yes, yes I'm lost and I don't know if I'd ever be able to go back home!" I was full on panic mode.
"Okay, where are you from then?" he asked, would he even help if I told him?
"I'm... I'm not from here...this place...this world... I'm not from this freaking world!" my outburst gave him another surprise.
"C-...can you help me? Get back to my home...my world?" Just from the confused look on his face it showed I didn't have much of a chance. All I achieved was making myself look insane.
"You had me there for a second kid..." he broke into a fit of laughter, "I know you don't want to be in here but you could come up with a better story, not this sad mental act," he got up from his chair and pushed it back to its original place.
"We'll try again tomorrow morning. I hope you'll be ready to be honest with me then..." he spoke, walking away from my cell.
Well that was humiliating, but how could I focus on that when I'd just confirmed I was in a whole different world. I tried to come myself down, I really tried to and the only way I got my respite was when I eventually fell asleep. My body once again reminded me the state I was in, adding to my mental breakdown it was already a recipe to crawl up and die on the spot.
The banging on the iron bars woke me up. The culprit was staring down at me with a wooden tray in his hand. I remembered him, the one who tackled me.
"Here's your meal, Captain's orders. Lucky you," he jammed the key into the lock and opened my cell, sliding down the tray to me.
"Eat up," he said, closing up the cell once more.
The meal wasn't even much though, just a bowl of rice and some soup but I wasn't in any condition to be demanding. The meal itself was kind of bland but a wolfed it all down all the same. Three days of hunger wasn't going to be picky of whatever would go in my body.
The meal didn't completely satisfy me but at least I didn't have that empty feeling inside me anymore.
Now to just kick back, relax and wait for morning and whatever would come after that. I really had calmed down after some sleep and a meal. That desperation I felt wasn't quite there anymore. I was thinking about sleeping some more, enjoying this little period of peace and solitude even of it was in a cold dingy jail cell, yeah fate had other plans.
The ringing of a bell, stirred me from my thoughts. The few guards who were here were already on the move, even though I couldn't see what was happening the clanging of metal told me they were preparing to go out for a battle of some sort.
Looked like the town decided to have an emergency right when I had finally settled my thoughts. But I shouldn't worry too much, I mean, I was right in the home of law enforcement. This should be the hardest place for any crook to try and attack, and maybe I shouldn't have triggered that flag.
The bursting of the door, the short intense exchange of blades and this female figure stepping right in front of my cell all hit me too fast. Her bangs slid over her other eye so that I could only stare back at her left eye and the cold look she was giving me. She tapped on to the bracelet looking thing on her arm before speaking into it.
"I've found him." Hold up, someone's looking for me? Who the hell even knows me here, I'm on a freaking different world.
"Who are you?" I asked her, all she did was wordlessly draw her dagger, and in one swift motion cut through the lock. That really shouldn't have been possible but when the dagger's blade was giving off that faint white glow I knew it wasn't your standard dagger.
She opened the door, drawing closer to me while I backed away. There was no escaping though, the one exit was right behind and everything else was nothing but wall.
"What do you want from me?" I'd reached the furthest I could move, my back against the wall while she went down in a squat, pushing back her bangs so that both her eyes were clearly examining me. Suddenly she had her hand on my face, running her fingers over my cheek then lifting up my chin.
"Is this really it?" I presumed she was talking to herself because I wasn't going to answer that. I slapped her hand away.
"Stay away from me!" That was it. I got up on my feet and tried to bolt out of the cell. I hadn't even got a single step in and her foot had already slammed into my face sending me back down. Damn it my nose was bleeding now.
"Don't make this hard for me, I don't have much time," Don't make this hard for you? Am I just supposed to sit still while you abduct me? No chance in hell.
She grabbed my arm and yanked me up, and all of a sudden my hands were shackled. She tried to get me on her shoulders but I made quite the fuss, kicking and swinging my arms which made her angrier.
She grabbed my head and pulled me into her knee, getting me square on the forehead. The pain filled me in an instant, and before I could even stagger back she already had her fist to the back of my head and after that it was all darkness.
For the few moments I regained but a glimpse of my consciousness my whole body was just in this intense rocking motion. The sounds I could pick out were the shuffling of leaves on and footsteps, and the occasional heavy breathing before I blacked out once more. When I finally came to the it seemed that day had long arrived. My current location, some weird run down cabin, neatly tied to a chair and two men and that crazy chick all staring at me.
"Is this seriously it?" the big bearded bald headed man asked. He was a little on the chubby side but still had noticeable amount of muscle on him.
"It is. He has the same energy trace the spark sensed, no doubt about it," the lady answered him.
"Okay, now that we have him are you sure we can bring Ouras back?" the other man asked leaning back on the dusty wall.
"I can't assure you completely but I can tell you I've spent most of my life doing the research. The chances of success are in our favor, we have everything we need, all that's left is that his strong enough to endure the ritual without his body crumbling," this conversation was already taking a turn for the worst for me huh. I felt like I was some sort of sacrifice for some bloody cult.
"How long till we're ready?" the bearded man asked once more.
"A week should be enough," the lady answered. So I had a week till I faced some form of end to my life. That sucked. But f*ck it if I survived a monster cat and an axe and bloody jail if I'd let them have their way. I'm not ready to die yet.
"Who are you people? What do you want with me?" I finally spoke up and they all turned to me like some sort of zombies.
"You don't have to worry about that, boy. Just play nice and we'll treat you right," the other man replied, walking out the door followed by the baldy.
Now me and the girl were left in this awkward stare contest.
"You're not gonna talk?" I asked her. She didn't really say anything so much as also make her way to the door, but stopped right before she walked out.
" Sorry you got caught up in this, but you're necessary for my plans. I know you won't understand but the thing is...I don't care. I'll bring you some food later. Rest up for now," just like that she followed her companions, throwing me into more confusion.
