Chapter 21
...."Hmm she used to be my friend." Damien replied.
"Ooh okay..." I said trying to see if he would tell me more information aside the fact that they used to be friends.
"You must have been pretty close in the past seeing how she behaved earlier " I added.
"Because she kissed me on the cheek?" He asked as he tried on the wristwatch. "She said she missed you as well" I replied waiting for him to feed my curiousity. Mia was rude to me earlier so I want to know the type of relationship she has or well in this case once had with Damien.
"Can we talk about.....wait a minute. Are you jealous?" He asked
"What? Me Jealous ? I don't have a reason to be. It's not like we have a special relationship" I replied. The expression on his face showed he wasn't pleased with my answer but well he should have expected that.
He looked at me as he feigned a smile and said " I was just pulling your legs".
He then got up and head to the washroom.
'I hope I didn't get him angry' I thought.

The next day was weekend so mother invited everyone to have breakfast together. I got dressed and went to the dining room along with Damien. He just had his beard shaved but I kind of like him with the beards better.
"You've been keeping me waiting for so long,you know how impatient I can be with food" Mia said as soon as we got to the room . I greeted everyone,the mayor didn't respond to my greeting as usual so I didn't mind.
"I've prepared as space for you" Mia said as she stood up gesturing him to sit close to her. Damien ignored her and acted as if he never heard her,he took my hand and went towards the empty chairs beside Diane.
He pulled out the chair and asked me to sit and sat on the chair next to me. Mia looked furious especially when she heard Diane chuckle.
"Let's eat" mother said. Breakfast was scrambled eggs with toasted bread. It was Damien's favorite,the only thing missing was a cup of coffee which mother prevented him from having that morning.
As we were eating Mia suddenly looked up at me and asked" Have you ever been to the city Seraphine?".
"No but I've heard a lot about it from Damien". I said remembering the day I asked Damien how the city was like.
" The city is nothing like ivy hills,there are lots of luxurious cars and beautiful tall buildings called 'skyscrapers' there. There are traffic lights and lots of activities at night as well.
"Have you ever heard of Pizza?" He asked
"No,is it a place in the city too?" I asked
He laughed and said " Pizza is an Italian dish,it is majorly made with flour and cheese baked at a high temperature. It can have several toppings like olives,mushrooms,chicken...."
I was already salivating as he explained. 'The city must be a place for rich people, not for people like me' I thought.

"No,I haven't " I replied Mia and she bursted into laughter and said " You haven't been to the city? I can't believe Damien is married to a village girl ". The mayor smiled as soon as she said that.
"Watch your mouth Mia" Damien said angrily. I placed my hand on Damien's so he could keep calm.
"You probably haven't gotten married because you're a city girl right?. Damien remember the time you told me girls in the city do all sort of things just for money and they end up getting used and dumped? I turned towards Damien. " Yes she probably unmarried because she's busy making money off guys" He said.
Mia looked at me with contempt and I smiled back at her. She got up and went to her room saying she lost her appetite.
We finished our meal and went to our various rooms. While we got to the room Damien apologized for Mia's behavior.
"It's not your fault so you shouldn't apologize on her behalf also you defended me and I'm grateful for that.
"I wish I can go have pizza in the city too" I said.
"Why do you dislike her ?,you said you both were once friends " I asked Damien.
"It's a long story Seraphine,I'm sorry but I don't want to talk about it" He replied.
"It's fine,you don't have to say anything if you don't want to" I said.
I remembered what happened between I and Mia earlier,I didn't know when I said" humph, village girl? What's so special about city girls. Is it because she's more beautiful?"out loud.
I didn't know Damien was listening so he said "You are more beautiful,the difference between you two is broad. You are kind and humble while she's the direct opposite, she's all after money unlike you". I smiled,it felt good to listening to him say that.
I wanted to thank him...
Ahhhhhh! We heard someone screaming. We quickly rush out of the room to see who it was and it turned out to be Mia. She was wailing and crying in pain. According to her ,she fell from the stairs.
"Are you badly hurt?" I asked trying to sympathize with her. She ignored my question and cried "Damien pls take me to my room,I can't walk there myself ".
"Diane pls go call the driver to carry her to her room" Damien said to Diane as he walked back into the room.
Mia hissed, got up then walked to her room.
"Seraphine that must be a miracle right" Diane asked as we both watched Mia walk up the stairs with our jaws dropped.
