Chapter 3: Chaos.
As soon as the man who claims to be the God of Creation started talking about transferring the mana from a dead planet to Earth, I felt a bad omen.
I don't have anything to back it up, this was just my instinct. I smell danger, extreme danger from his words!
I took out my phone and called Dad.
"Dad, are you watching the event of the church? I have a bad feeling about where this is going. Stay safe!"
"En, your grandfather thinks so too. He may be fucking young chicks most of the time but his senses have never dulled! Don't worry about us, if anything, we have manpower and security here. Instead, it's you that should be caref–!"
It was at this time that the man disappeared and after the silence, screams started erupting from everywhere.
[Thud~]
I then heard something being dropped to the floor at the VIP rooms next to mine.
[Krshsh~]
[Schkksks~]
The call also ended… but not because Dad nor me hung up but rather it was interrupted like from that of a signal jammer.
Fuck!
I looked at my phone that was constantly giving off screeching noise and hung up. No, I was about to hang up but my phone turned off before I could even do so!
This motherfucker–!
The battery was still at 69%, there's no fucking way that it just died on me! Then, as if on cue, the air conditioner, the light and other electronics also stopped working one after another.
"It's this mana transfer bullshit! This is the one that's shutting down everything!" I couldn't help but curse out loud.
This was the only thing that could possibly explain what's happening.
At this time, the screaming had already spread like wildfire, all I could hear was screaming. I looked towards the cathedral and saw a scene that only appeared in zombie movies.
The ones who initially screamed and fell on the ground got up and started attacking those around them. And then, after the zombies rips a person's flesh to shreds with its teeth and hands, that person would stop screaming.
A crazed red gleam would flash through the person's eyes and the zombie would stop attacking it. The two would look at each other and seemed to have become bros and would pounce to another person that's close to them.
It was zombies infecting people and turning them into zombies!
Though I don't actually know if they are zombies, who cares?! I have more than enough time to understand how this shit works later! And the only way to be able to have time to do that later, I would need to get the fuck out of here and not get bitten alive then get infected!
I stood up and dashed out of the VIP room that I'm in, and headed to the stairs. Hell no would I use the slow-ass elevator!
I may be trained in Martial Arts and possess strength above ordinary people, but I am still human! If I get surrounded by a horde of these zombies, I would join their ranks soon enough!
As I passed by other VIP rooms, I heard many different scenes play out.
But I don't care about any of that!
After I arrived downstairs, the originally modern and elegant cafe had now turned into a slaughterhouse with blood and gore everywhere.
A zombie saw me go down the stairs and tried to pounce on me. I gave it a roundhouse kick to the head, sending it flying to the wall on my left.
As I ran towards the exit, zombies would pounce on me, and I would either kick or punch them in the head, sending them away.
Finally, I came outside and it was even more chaotic. The people gathered in front of the cathedral were like an ant colony being disturbed with ants fleeing everywhere.
On the streets, some were fighting back with makeshift weapons like a leg of a stool as they retreated towards their vehicles. Some were just having a mental breakdown while kneeling on the floor. And some were breaking into stores and started robbing amidst the chaos and panic.
A plethora of reactions!
As soon as I got into my car, I immediately floored the gas and raced off the area. There were people, zombies and cars running around everywhere on the road so I had to constantly steer the wheel and dodge them.
I dodged the zombies simply because my car, a Prius, is not built for this. I don't want it breaking down midway. This was one of the times that I actually regretted not spending a bit more money and buying a good car that can bulldoze bodies!
•×•×•×•
A Villa that I live in was in a high-class area; a subdivision. When I got to the entrance of the subdivision, I was greeted by dozens of security personnel wielding guns and military vehicles like a Humvee.
I could see zombies thrown on the sides with gunshots on their heads and bloodstains on the road.
It seems that they have already secured the perimeter. This was only possible because of the skills of the personnel guarding the subdivision and also the fact that there are not many people around a high-class area like this. If this was the center of the city where there are many people, they wouldn't have controlled the situation this easily.
It only took them around 40 minutes to achieve this. The security here speaks for itself. It was worth it buying a house here, every dollar was well spent!
I was asked to get out of the car and was checked for any bites or scratches. It was only after a thorough scrutiny and showing them my identification did they allow me to pass.
As I drive through the road inside the subdivision. I saw that some of the houses have private bodyguards guarding it, and some have personnel talking to a person in the house.
The corpses were already cleaned out so what was left of the chaos here were bloodstains, which also started to get cleaned.
I drove up to the house and got out to manually open the gate. I didn't park the car in the garage and just put it on the driveway in case hell breaks loose, and I can escape.
The first thing I did was shower to get rid of the sweat and drops of blood that spilled onto me when I was escaping.
There was no hot water since there was no electricity. Fortunately, I'm not new to cold showers because I usually take them after I've fully exerted myself in the gym in serious workout sessions, so I was fine.
The house is designed to have as much natural light as possible like most modern houses so it was bright inside. There's still about 3 hours of light before the sun sets.
The main problem is during the night...
Not because of the light problem, that could be solved by creating fire, but because of its possible effect on the zombies.
Would they get a strength boost like in the movies?
